I love that metal has such a diverse culture... If you listen for about 10 seconds @ 3:07 you'll notice he says power in a very familiar tone/dialect ;)
does anyone have any opinions on avatar cabs? i just got my dual rec and i don't have nuff for a mesa cab but i need an upgrade from my shitty bugera cab and i was gonna get an avatar with hellatone 60's... which are 60 watt vintage 30's... any thoughts, i will take suggestions from anyone!
Often people complain that this amp "sags" because of the tube rectifier, which shredders do not like for the most part. what most people don't realize is that mesa rectifiers have solid state and tube rectifiers. So if the amp isn't keeping up with you, it's because you don't have the solid state rectifiers on. Solid state rectifiers have no resistance which is why they are articulate and fast to respond. Most tube amps use SS rectifiers, but this amp offers both. :)
Having problems with my triple rec. dont like the fact there is a gain control on the clean channe..... what kind of setting u use for fx loop mix and for clean settings?
Ive been having all sorts of issues with this thing... please respond.....
I thinking of upgrading to a better amp head. I'm gonna use a mesa cab but Im divided between getting a rectifier or a Peavey 6505/5150+. I know that the Peavey is tighter and more clarity with gain and that the rectifier is better toned and warmer when saturated. However I have heard that mesa's lose a lot of clarity when turned up all the way and that although the peavey is not nearly as good as a recto it holds up better at high volumes and is much cheaper. Can U give me your opinion on it?
right now i own a marshall vs100 wich has alot of gain and if i scoop it and put the bass all the way to 10 i can get a tomb of the mutilated cannibal corpse sound but wb a triple rectifier can i get that same sound?
I reaallyyy want a mesa boogie triple, but it dsnt produce the sound does it? Is that wat a cabinet does? Any similar products as mesa too cuz they r to pricey for me
Here are settins on my Triple R that produce a "Mark V" sound: P10 M9.30 G12 B7 M1 T11. Both Vintage or Modern sound good. Silicon/Sponge. Both Channel 2 or 3 OK.
great demo man i love triple recs but im 15 and wont be in a place of spending 2k anytime soon. I am considering getting a bugera trirec when it comes out hopefully it will be nice enough with my schecter c1 hellraiser.
I turn the channel master up to 9' o'clock, with the loop bypassed on the amp, but the best way I can describe the sound, is the mid sounds quite scooped.
A mesa triple rectifier is overkill. You would have to destroy your hearing and piss everyone off you live with or practice with to get a great tone out of it. If you want a Mesa, from experience, always go with a single or Dual.
I have a Mesa Dual Rectifier 3 channel, but when ever I crank the channel master volume up higher, the amp begins to sound awful muddy is this normal?
During presentation of Channel III I hear some hum in the background, sounds similar to some hum I have with my Dual Rectifier on Channel II/III Modern...Is this the normal hum you get because of the gain? I hear it on my Dual even with the guitar volume down...Normal?
There honestly is no tonal difference in the dual and triple, just volume and headroom. And trust me the dual has plenty of volume and headroom. I have a dual and have considered downsizing to a single rectifier because it may have too much power.
haha you know what the funny thing is: In Germany you pay for mesa triple almost as much as for a Diezel VH4. Both are around 2500 - 2800 depending on where you get them. As far as I know there´s only one Engl in that range. Normaly you pay here for an Engl between 1000 and 1600.
Tubes won't change your sound that radically to voice like another amp. Just try to find the best voicing with your amp. Juice it for a s much as you can.
I think you should defintely check out a pedal called the decimator(noise gate)
it's supposed to not change your tone when you turn it on and I've seen video's that prove it compared to boss noise gates. I could hear that buzz in the background when u swtiched to channel 3 so just thought I'd mention it
a few questions. do you like the original singer for KS more than the new guy? I prefer the original guy. for the cab, celestions? reverb or no reverb? Greatest amp on the planet for scooping i prefer no reverb myself. I really can't tell a difference between the tone per different channels on a rec besides just volume cut. Nothing against that at all.
thanx for the video man it was very helpful!!!!! I've really been getting interested in the dual and triple rectifiers especially after I heard the tone of the chords from a band called between the buried and me from a song called prequel to the sequel check it out!!!!!
i have h4z passives (emg) my amp sounds so weak (mesa dual rec.) how can i make it have cutting edge distortion? i have the switch on bold and the vacuum tubes on not silicon diode rectifier. i heard a boost pedal in front helps
what do you mean? the guitar volume or amp volume? i know you have to crank it loud to get the tubes working. ive tried going really loud it doesnt seem to have any trace of edgy distortion. the tubes or anything else havent been touched since early 2005 from the previous owner and has been used for gigs from him also. does changing the tubes give it a more full bodied sharper sound if they are worn out? sorry for all the questions & thanks i love your vids
You might need to change your tubes out. Especially if the amp was gigged heavily. They don't last forever...replace all your tubes...then get back at me.
Worn out tubes in a a dual rec causes an extremely loose bottom end sound and yes new tubes will bring back a sharper fuller sound... groove tubes are a great replacement for the stock mesa tubes
hey im about to buy a mesa head but im not sure whether to get the dual or triple rectifier.i have a death metal band and a hardcore band.i hear alot of people say that the triple rectifier is a overkill and you wont be able to get a really good sound cause you wont be able to crank it without it getting too loud.i play shows and have a mesa 4x12 rectifier cab.PLEASE WRITE BACK!!
Overkill...I think not. You won't have to crank it at all. It is a very powerful amp. At low and high volume. I play mine at night next to my baby's room while he sleeps. For gigs, I have never turned it past 3. It rocks. Either way, you'll be fine. Just be reasonable with the settings when you get it. Don't crank any of the knobs. remember, it works in "envelopes"
dude what do you think about the Vox ad100tv xl high gain amp? you think it's good enough? and by the way the pic at the beginning of the vid it's a nice detail! two drop dead beauties!!! I want 'em both!!!
i heard that the only difference between the dual and triple rec is the clean channel on the triple rec's they dont break up the louder you crank it they stay clean and i tried them booth thats the only difference that i noticed
the triple has a LOT more low end. wattage doesn't necessarily represent volume on all frequencies. if you have a half power switch a lot of times the only thing it does is reduce the lower end thump so inversely the triple rec has a ton of bass compared to the dual.
Well, I really don't know what to choose between Mesa and Engl, both are good amps. I play a lot of different stuff, from jazz to metal, so I need an amp that would be very versatile. Usually, I play a lot of metal, so I need a sound for it. What do you recommand??
ii think I sent you an e-mail by mistake. just delete it please. I recommend the Mesa because I am a mesa guy, but just play them and see which one suits your fancy. I would recommend Mesa Mark anything or a lonestar.
Thank you for replying to me. I'll try them out and I'll see what's best for me. I just wanted to see what you would recommand to me, but an amp is personnal because it always depends on which sound you want. And btw, I deleted your email.
nice playin dude. i know it could never compare to a mesa, but what would you say about a marshall dsl 100 jcm 2000? ive been looking at one for a while but i cant tell if its good enough. i play anything from classic rock to modern metal...any coments?
would this sound awesome for heavy as hell death metal and thrash but also good for classic rock and stuff i would most likely have a zakk wylde overdrive to boost it a bit as well
Hey man. Do you use your 3rd channel in vintage or modern mode cause on the video it seems like you do but the settings say vintage. Also, what are your settings for the 1st clean channel. Thanks a lot dude.
I use the vintage settings. Use the pushed setting in clean and turn the gain down for the best sound. I don't have my amp with me to getthe settings right now, but if you have the manual use those settings for clean. They are the best.
Hey man. Love your videos. I saw in some of your other responses to comments, that you have or had a Mark V? If you still have it, could you make a video of some tones? How much did it cost you too. thanks man. Your awesome dude.
I do have a mark V, but right now I just arrived at my new house in Japan so I don't have my home settled just yet. In a few weeks, I will be back up and running. The amp cost me $1,999...thanks ffor checking out my channel.
I'll bet. Good luck with that, I hate moving. All the arranging can be boring. Plus I bet you'll have to make several trips to the truck with all that gear.
Also, sorry man but you need a new camera, or a mic. The sound quality is a bit lacking, you know.
But I read about it in the manual...So I don't want to change my tubes in just a year or so....I saw you are using a tubescreamer...How are your settings there? Wet 100% before the amp?
Your tube life won't suffer greatly between the twwo settings don't worry. You tubes may wear faster if you use an overdrive pedal...also keep your settings normal...don't spike the gain.
I just got a Mesa Dual Rec. What setting on Vacuum/Silicon and on Bold/Spongy do you suggest for Hard Rock/Nu Rock like Creed,Nickelback? I thought Silicon might be the setting as I read in the manual but you use vacuum...Does the bold setting shorten the tube life? I kind of struggle getting "the Recto tone":-(
No, the bold setting doesn't shorten tube life. I recommend vacuum and bold settings. Also, I like the vintage voicings. You need to get an overdrive pedal and place it in the front of teh amp to mimmick those band's tones. Also, used the pushed voicing on the cleana and adjust the gain down...it is awesome!
this mic ruins the amps sound its like youve added a cheesy ring mod on the fx loop lol why dont you record via an interface ps sry not for using captlzation and punctation utube woudnt let m post a comm
Thanks for the good feedback. I made this video with a Cannon Poweshot a while back. I am going to make new videos with a Sony HD Handycam...I don't know what you mean by "ring mod", but I will work on it.
150 watts versus 100 watts. Either one you go with will be fine. Just be ready to tweak it, there are TONS of tones in rectos and most people never scratch the surface of what these amps really can do!!!
who said i was close minded...all im saying is every amp i put against it fails in comparison...show me a place in long island new york that has a dfiamond amp and i will try one
whats the difference between the tripple dual and single rectos? please respond

GabDuquette 2 years ago
ii think I sent you an e-mail by mistake. just delete it please. I recommend the Mesa because I am a mesa guy, but just play them and see which one suits your fancy. I would recommend Mesa Mark anything or a lonestar.
brownhog72 2 years ago
Thank you for replying to me. I'll try them out and I'll see what's best for me. I just wanted to see what you would recommand to me, but an amp is personnal because it always depends on which sound you want. And btw, I deleted your email.
GabDuquette 2 years ago
Oh and good vids too, nice demo for the amp.
GabDuquette 2 years ago
Try the Mark V or a Lonestar...the cleans are great and the heavy sound is even better.

im getting a new amp and i was wondering if a dual rec could get me a nice grungey sound because im a nirvana fan and i know that seether uses mesa's
fendersrule1 2 years ago
You can, just adjust the levels to create the sound you need.
brownhog72 2 years ago
nice playin dude. i know it could never compare to a mesa, but what would you say about a marshall dsl 100 jcm 2000? ive been looking at one for a while but i cant tell if its good enough. i play anything from classic rock to modern metal...any coments?
guitarplayingfr3ak 2 years ago
They are actually great amps bro. Just add a little overdrive and make em sing.
brownhog72 2 years ago
KILLSWITCH ENGAGE!!!! Hey, for some reason, you remind me of Howard Jones. Ever tried to sing like him? :D
LeggoMaEggo17 2 years ago
I sing like me...but I have sang some KSE songs.
brownhog72 2 years ago
would this sound awesome for heavy as hell death metal and thrash but also good for classic rock and stuff i would most likely have a zakk wylde overdrive to boost it a bit as well
adamw98 2 years ago
Hey man. Do you use your 3rd channel in vintage or modern mode cause on the video it seems like you do but the settings say vintage. Also, what are your settings for the 1st clean channel. Thanks a lot dude.
etchstone 2 years ago
I use the vintage settings. Use the pushed setting in clean and turn the gain down for the best sound. I don't have my amp with me to getthe settings right now, but if you have the manual use those settings for clean. They are the best.

Man now I know what amp I want to invest in thanks man
UndyingPlague 2 years ago
Hey man. Love your videos. I saw in some of your other responses to comments, that you have or had a Mark V? If you still have it, could you make a video of some tones? How much did it cost you too. thanks man. Your awesome dude.
vXvLETHALvXv 2 years ago
I do have a mark V, but right now I just arrived at my new house in Japan so I don't have my home settled just yet. In a few weeks, I will be back up and running. The amp cost me $1,999...thanks ffor checking out my channel.
brownhog72 2 years ago
Ahh living in Japan? Cool man. Well good luck settling in and cant wait for new videos! Rock on bro.
vXvLETHALvXv 2 years ago
Dude, I can't wait to see you up and running again bro. Best of luck in Japan.
illusionfreak 2 years ago
I can't wait either...I'm tired of camping out in an empty house.
brownhog72 2 years ago
I'll bet. Good luck with that, I hate moving. All the arranging can be boring. Plus I bet you'll have to make several trips to the truck with all that gear.
Also, sorry man but you need a new camera, or a mic. The sound quality is a bit lacking, you know.
illusionfreak 2 years ago
word...I got a new camera.

jerkmuscle 2 years ago
That is a song I wrote called "man vs the machine" and the end of section is a KSE riff.
brownhog72 2 years ago
What do you mean by "spike the gain"?
thanks!
Mickrophagist 2 years ago
By setting it rediculously high...it doesn't take a lot.
brownhog72 2 years ago
Yes. Just the recto 4x12 cab in the video.
brownhog72 2 years ago
But I read about it in the manual...So I don't want to change my tubes in just a year or so....I saw you are using a tubescreamer...How are your settings there? Wet 100% before the amp?
RoughT85 2 years ago
Your tube life won't suffer greatly between the twwo settings don't worry. You tubes may wear faster if you use an overdrive pedal...also keep your settings normal...don't spike the gain.
brownhog72 2 years ago
I just got a Mesa Dual Rec. What setting on Vacuum/Silicon and on Bold/Spongy do you suggest for Hard Rock/Nu Rock like Creed,Nickelback? I thought Silicon might be the setting as I read in the manual but you use vacuum...Does the bold setting shorten the tube life? I kind of struggle getting "the Recto tone":-(
RoughT85 2 years ago
No, the bold setting doesn't shorten tube life. I recommend vacuum and bold settings. Also, I like the vintage voicings. You need to get an overdrive pedal and place it in the front of teh amp to mimmick those band's tones. Also, used the pushed voicing on the cleana and adjust the gain down...it is awesome!

wow...
master only at 1
that is one loud ass amp
if only i had the money O.O
bbccrriicchh 2 years ago
this mic ruins the amps sound its like youve added a cheesy ring mod on the fx loop lol why dont you record via an interface ps sry not for using captlzation and punctation utube woudnt let m post a comm
fullofblood 2 years ago
Thanks for the good feedback. I made this video with a Cannon Poweshot a while back. I am going to make new videos with a Sony HD Handycam...I don't know what you mean by "ring mod", but I will work on it.

hey man have u played the dual rectifier as well as the triple cus im not sure which one to go for and i was wunderin there differences
Thanks
lespoulboy93 2 years ago
150 watts versus 100 watts. Either one you go with will be fine. Just be ready to tweak it, there are TONS of tones in rectos and most people never scratch the surface of what these amps really can do!!!

mesa rules

who said i was close minded...all im saying is every amp i put against it fails in comparison...show me a place in long island new york that has a dfiamond amp and i will try one
