  • This song ruined character making for me 'cause it replaced original main theme of nwn2 and that one is much better imo.

  • @TheGreatSanta I guess you're not a HoMM fan.

  • I just bought NWN2 Platinum off Steam. I already had the Gold Edition retail.

When I started the game and heard this, I couldn't believe how beautiful it was.Mr. Romero is a genius.

  • 4 people don't know what a good rpg is.

  • In my opinion, this beats NWN1's Theme =) Brilliant,

  • This is the best one. It makes me feel happy and a little bit sad.

  • OMG!

    It's the Dark Mark!

  • This song is so good I suffered an astral pants jizzing.

  • Sooooo good.

    SOOOOO good.

I still have a playlist of atmospheric Morrowind music- but I think this seriously needs to be thrown in it.

  • loop it!!! thanks in advance

  • since 0:50 its so good it hurts

  • @Legoldos It really does.

  • Thumbs up if you take 1-2 minutes at the Main screen just to listen to this master piece.

  • nwn2 forever

  • SoZ was probably the best NWN in terms of combat but really, after the great story of MotB (and according to some, the cliched but fun NWN2) its a disappointment. Awesome theme though, best of the series.

  • Is this expansion any good? I didn't even realize they released more expansions after mask of the betrayer. They obviously didn't put out enough publicity about it. I liked NWN2 a lot, and the expansion, so I'm thinking about trying to find this game.

  • @ficken3 It was okay... I have it, but I didn't play through it more than once. On the other hand, I've already played through MoTB about 5 times, and I have now launched the sixth campaign (It does help to have an uber-cute romance option for a change, instead of a hulking piece of beef). It was rather open-ended, and I'm a story-oriented person. It made making IWD:remake possible, though, so it's kind of a mix b/w BG/IWD interface and NWN.

  • No way to describe the epicness between 0:47 1:41

  • What a beautiful theme :) Just a shame this game doesn't live up to the original NWN 2 or mask of the betrayer. I'm sorry to say the NWN series started to go down hill after mask of the betrayer which really is a shame as this theme is probably the greatest main theme of the lot :(

  • When I first installed this exp. pack and looked at the cover I thought the theme would be all gloomy and dark, but this theme makes me so happy for some reason :')

  • I open the game just to hear this theme.

  • @EpickPhailureCinema Jaaarrrrrr ; one of the greatest themes

  • Comment removed

  • Wizard here, other classes can suck my magic wand.

  • trust me guys ( all nwn lovers ) SoZ sux compared to Motb or OC

  • i NEED to complete this game:

completed NW2 long ago but never the expansions, did get far but my pc had a virus.

anyways: almost a nostalgic feeling when i hear this theme

  • Is this expansion pack worth getting?

  • @Nightshade715 This expansion pack is quite different from other(s), and if you expect to get something like them, you'll probably be disapointed, but if you want to play something a bit different, set in NWN world, then probably yes...

  • @Nightshade715 Absolutely not. Either play the original NWN2 (a cliche infested game done right) or Mask of the Betrayer expansion (one of the greatest story and story telling experience)

  • Its beautiful. I still play NWN 1 Epic Nordock online everyday :O)

Hands down best game ever made.

  • In my opinion, the best theme of the entire NWN franchise to date.

Alas, the game fell short of even honoring the theme.

  • God I love this theme, especially when it picks up pace at 0:48 through to 1:40, goosebumps...

  • This theme is awesome, makes starting the game up an adventure :D

Also, it reminds me of BG2's theme in a way.... the first part is epic music and the second gives you a sense of mystery and wonder.

  • @Mannetasi Your point? This is the games main theme, not actual gameplay or anything, so leave your *cough* ...constructive criticism...elsewhere. An 'in my opinion' there would have saved you from looking like an idiot.

  • @SuperJoeUK perso, i really dig the Throne of Bhaal Main theme made by Inon Zur...

  • can you get this game on original xbox

  • @Mannetasi Ok, neverwinter nights 2 is not a great game... but man, all changes with Mask of the betrayer, epic, ARS MAGNA

  • This must be the best song in the whole game!

  • This expansion is a dark black spot on an otherwise wonderful game. There were just so many annoying features in this expansion.

  • Where do i find the full music files for NWN2?

The ones in the Music archive are like 20 seconds long AT BEST

  • @Gruplock

The music files the game uses are just renamed MP3s. Locate them in the install directory and you can load them up with WinAmp.

  • From the second I've first heard the theme, I knew I sensed something familiar. And decided to check out, who the composer was. For an old MM nut like me... That was something.

  • Good theme, but I still prefer MotB.

  • And suddenly I found out that many of my favorite video game scores were composed by the same man: Paul Anthony Romero.

I'm going to check out his other work.

  • Great Theme, something about 0:22 reminds me of the original star wars theme.

  • 0:22 remindes me of harry potter theme^^

    0:47 - 1:07 i love it!!!

  • What's the music when you first start the game up? Not this (obviously), but the main menu when you first activate the shortcut. Anyone know/have it uploaded?

  • If you have your own copy of the game installed, head to C:\Program Files\Atari\Neverwinter Nights 2\Music and look for a file called 'mus_autorun.wav'.

  • Thanks, got it. I love that music.

  • Not a problem, i'm happy to help.

  • Do *NOT* run this file straight from the game directory with Windows Media Player. It has a tendency to rename the file, and thus, the game will no longer be able to play the track.

The only way you can fix this problem that I know of is to reinstall the game.

However, there's a better fix--copy & paste the music into another folder, and listen to it to your heart's desire.

Just don't open it up directly from the game file.

  • I've been running the game files directly to listen to them since the original Neverwinter Nights, and have never encountered such a problem. It may be possible that you have some sort of setting on in WMP, but I haven't a clue what it could be.

Either way, feel free to just run it from the game's file or copy it elsewhere to listen to it. It really is up to you - nobody can tell you how to do it based on their experience.

  • I've done a quick google search and found out a bit more.

WMP sometimes tries to be "helpful" by adding ID3 tags to .bmu files. Unfortunately, when it does this, NWN 2 can no longer find the file and thus, can't play it.

I haven't been able to find out what exactly makes WMP do this yet. So, copy these .bmu files into some other folder, where it doesn't matter if WMP screws with them.

  • @AmuliusIV

Winamp is safe. Further, if a renaming does occur, you could easily just manually replace it with the original name.

  • I love this piece. Anyone know any music simmilar?

  • simmilar music ?

well it was composed by Paul Anthony Romero so you can check some games where he composed music . I think that few tracks from Heroes of Might and Magic 5 are similar to this and there is also other great music he composed used in Heroeses especialy in Heroes 3 and 4

  • EPIC! I especially like the last 1 1/2 min. of it :p.

  • perfect tune compared to NWN 2 s original

  • Storm of Zehir could have been a even better game, they screwd up many aspects of the game. The story was too weak, and the world exploration lacked dinamic. But overall I liked it. Stil, I'd rather dive into a D&D book.

  • 0:48 I found myself humming this theme a few minutes ago after playing this game months ago. I have no idea where it came from but it's SO good and so epic. Too bad Storm of Zehir itself was a bit of a disappointment. MotB was incredible though, like a really goo fantasy book.

  • This theme makes waiting for my saves to load a pleasure.

  • Altough the plot of Soz wasn't as epic as MotB, the overland map is an interesting additiong to the gameplay. If they can just sort out the bugs in the trading system and random encounters in time for NWN 3, it should be a big hit.

  • nwn 1 first main theme a way better

  • This is an absurdly good theme.

  • @NeoAnuer

Seriously regretting not buying NWN 2 or any of its expansions.

  • @Maciejka0111

Get it on steam, it's 33% off right now.

  • I think most of the game play improvements are available in a patch even with basic NWN, Classes, new spells, feats ect however won't be. I know when I got NWN Classic when it came out it didn't have a lot of the stuff it had when I patched and played recently. If your going from NWN1 to NWN2 I suggest the Character Camera View, I found the other one frustrating bc everything is inverted compared to NWN1

  • The previous 2 themes of NWN2 were good; this one's even better. Refreshing, somehow.

So this is already out... I should get right away for the gameplay improvements, even if I'm still playing thru the original NWN2 plot.

  • This is the best theme I've heard of the NWN2 themes so far...shame that I don't have a well enough computer to run all three.

Is there a bundle for all three games, or do you have to get Gold + SoZ? PS, I want to try out SoZ badly, because it's been a long, LONG time since we've had a good team based RPG...you know, like Bard's Tale, or Icewind dale.

  • As far as I know, Gold only has the Original and Mask of the Betrayer. There'll likely be a Platinum release in the future with all three. Maybe even a Diamond release, like the original NWN had.

  • This theme makes the expansion worth it's money by itself.

  • As much as your opinion is appreciated, I doubt you have the right to tell people not to buy it. Even though it's campaign may be poor compared to the other two, it's general improvements make NWN2 and MotB better anyhow.

  • Just there is the "party selection bug" in the OC that comes with SoZ. :( But the 1.21 patch fixes it.

  • it was bad but i played it for the music dude. :D

  • thats properly the worst reason to play a game ever...

  • wow..

  • this theme is badass...

  • MoTB is better than SoZ....horrible to say that mask was bad.

  • SoZ was better imo, the gameplay improvements make it better and i don't really play neverwinter nights for the story, i did like sasani tho :)

  • Some parts reminds me charakteristic themes from Conan the barbarian - when you compare the cover to Thulsa Doom's atribut (snake), well, you know...

It's great piece of music, thank you and sorry for poor english, I'm foreigner.

  • Wow, this is very good music. I ordered Storm of Zehir but i'm still waiting for it to arrive. After reading the reviews and hearing this music I can't wait.

  • I'm ashamed to say that i've only managed to get through about half of Mask of the Betrayer, so of course, I haven't really touched Storm of Zehir yet. But the improvements it's made to the entire game make Zehir a very good purchase.

  • Mask of the Betrayer has an amazing story. The first time I played it with a good character. But then I found out that playing with an evil character is more rewarding. Does anyone know if importing an character into Storm of Zehir he keeps all his equipment? This was not the case with Mask of the Betrayer and it would be amazing if my character could keep his 'Myrkul's Scythe'.

  • have you played Storn of Zehir yet? Im wondering how the graphics and gameplay compare to Mask of the Betrayer. I have the bundle pack with all the games together, but skipped to Zehir after playing NW2 for a few days. Zehir kicks azz for sure, although it takes getting used to using the different camera angles...

  • i dont know how I didnt know this series even esisted till now, but Im sure glad I found it! I have the bundle pack with all three games together, but I just started playing Zehir as its the latest one. Graphics and story line are awsome! The only problem I noticed is that the camera angles can be bothersome and takes tme to get used to.

  • This title them was written by Paul Romero & Rob King of the Famed Heroes of Might & Magic and Everquest Series.

  • Thanks to this video i found the music file and now im just like you, SuperJoe. I feel that fantasy vibe that i missed for so long...

  • zehir is a new god. means "poison" in turkish :)

  • That explains the venomous snake then, I suppose. Nice piece of info there, jahrein.

  • ZEHIR is the Turkish pronunciation of Persian zahr (from Old Iranian *jathra* poison < gwhn + tro; it comes from the root *gwhen*: you can find it in English words like *hunt* (i.e. to strike, kill), *hunter* (gwhen + tr), *gun* or *bane* (slayer) and also in *bezoar* (from Persian pad (to protect) + zahr)!!!

  • I liked MotB theme, but this one is way better, even better than the original NWN theme imo.

  • Wheres the music from? Please post the filename. Is this a mbu-file?

  • Assuming you have a legitimate copy of the game, you will find this track under "C:\Program Files\Atari\Neverwinter Nights 2\Music_X2\nx2_mus_maintheme.bmu". It is playable with the latest version of Windows Media Player.

  • I have found it. Thanks for the tip. Best regards!

  • Not a problem, enjoy.

  • Hell yeah. Opting for a live orchestra paid off.

  • I only recently got into the NWN series, but I really love this track. :')

  • I've been into NWN for years now, along with Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale before it, but this is the first NWN2 track that really brings the fantasy vibe from the original NWN games back to me.
