I much prefer this song at this btisker tempo than the usual lugubrious renderings. It sounds more like the drinking song it presumably is meant to be. The spontaneity of the moment (not to mention the aptness of the setting) all contribute. As to Mr Kruglov's voice..... WOW!
That is what I call a true basso profundo. I usually sing as a ( true, of course ) bass-baritone, and I feel like a soubrette when I hear such a tremendous voice.
@LightMare7 He seems (I mean, the guy next to Mikhail Kruglov) really apart from the feast. At 2'01'', Kruglov tells him something, I don't know what precisely, but he doesn't change his mind, or his face.
@jonedelleman What is fry? Fry is generally considered that "creaky voice" people make when trying to make low notes. My opinion, though, is that vocal fry is also what gives singers, especially male bass and baritone singers, a distinguishable timbre. A "resonant" note means tons of harmonics, and these harmonics are produced by vocal fry. What we point out as, "a ha! vocal fry" is really just what happens when we can't produce modal voice anymore, but just fry is left
There's a studio recording of him singing "Legend of the twelve robbers" where he lands on A1. Sounds a bit sharp, still - he's one of the best out there.
Crazy. And his talking voice at the end...insane !!! By the way...his lowest notes in this clip are around the low Db. Very low notes of course, but obviosly not for him (:

What's a fry ?

Vocal fry is when you go from singing in chest vice to throat voice. This is all chest voice.

Песня старого бурша 1
Сижу в прохладном погребке
У бочки полной винной.
Не может выше счастья быть,
Забавы милой и невинной.
Хозяин сам летит ко мне,
Лишь только поманю я;
Он наливает мне стакан -
И пью, и пью, и пью я.
