Thanks for sharing Gruevie. I enjoy the history of legends like this man. I love listening to street musicians. There was a wonderful singer who use to play in front of the Garadelli store in San Francisco years ago who was so good that famous singers from all over the world would come to hear him or sing with him. You'd see lemmos pulled up to the curb sitting there while an opera star sang with the man. I wish I could remember his name. Played guitar. Anyone know? 60's and 70's.
"How'd you get into the Blues..." That's like asking the interviewer, how'd you get into being a pushy New York Jew with a nasally voice." In both cases, they were born to it.
Kind of rude saying, "Do you LIKE playing in the subway?" Duh, I'm sure he'd probably rather play Radio City Music hall to a packed house, but you don't have to rub that in.
@helmusico I agree. I wish we had a choice but I bet it comes down to advertising to keep it free. If it really came down to either advertising to keep it going then I can stand it. But I think a lot of people miss the old ways best. Just easier and more personel.
that's what I'm talkin' bout-you no what I sayin'? I wanna no who be tha whitieboy axin' all questions? I like the Black Blkues guy be better cuz he all f-ed up an drunk
Wow, what an odd mixup. Sounds like he's had alot of Japanese students play with him. Do they think, "I think I'll go to America, study English, maybe get a degree, see some sights... maybe play a few licks with an old blues man."
Do you ever make comments that anybody could possibly give a crap about, or do you spend all your time on youtube picking out spelin messtakes? oohh I love to go on youtube and comment on all the spelling mistakes. It makes me feel smart.
you are the stupid one this what blues is all about he is a real blues man and he is from mississippi that is lik THE place for blues thats where the blues scene started and from the king of blues robert johnson
Jimmy Reed started his musical career playing in the streets of Gary, Indiana and Chicago. It was a 2 man band: Reed & Willie Joe Duncan who played a unitar (1-string instrument).
I did a tribute to Jimmy Reed - just 74 seconds long on my youtube site.
yah mee too, I like to know the info yes, but, did wanna hear them , i skipped got impatient, when I go to youtube I wanna hear immediately not 2 seconds later, get on with it and talk after you earned my interest, NOW lets hear some tunes, gonna look at the other vids he has maybe its story
Keep on playin' guys! Shows,streets,subways,stage..whatever.We do the same here in Kuala Lumpur. Some folks call us beggars or junkies. They are just ignorant idoits.Just keep on playin'..especially the blues!
Young musicians in Japan play outside stations but they never expect to get paid. They also play in parks because there isn't anywhere else they can find that much free space.
what's wrong with this guy, didn't he hear the first time that he like to play in the subway to feel like he can go when he wants and ppl can come and go as well. it felt like he was mocking him. Floyd lee...great man of the blues...love him
Dude if your gonna interview someone atleast seem to have an interest in the topic and what the guy is telling you.. You sucked and came across as a complete ignorant dick..
