He did a good ass job, I'm signing up in to go to the Navy to do Fire Fighting though...Is there any pointers anyone can give me so when I join & what to expect....I have to finish my last 15 college units then I'm good to go B-)!!!!
Just completed my Fire Fighter I class, I'm leaving for the Academy "Live Burn" tomorrow morning....I hope I can do this.....I'm an old man....Firefighting is a young man's sport, I'm afraid.
good job, i am a firefighter trainee, wont be joining the military though, but anyone wondering, the army has removed the job of a military fireman as of 2010 that i know, im not sure why i just remember a few people in my class were bummed when their recruiter told them this, after watching this i would love to try this course too, we have one about half the length at our competitions for SKILLS but this is brutal, wish i could take a try hahaha. Great Job man good luck with ur career too
@ross0the0man Everyone in this video is in the Military. Goodfellow AFB in texas is home to a joint service firefighting school for servicemen of all branches. That's why you see a mix of Marines, (Desert camo with green T-shirts) Soldiers, (With the grey-green pixelated camo and tan T-shirts) and Airman (Wearing the grey-green tiger stripe pattern with tan T-shirts) The Army and the Air Force's patterns are very close, but you can see the difference at 0:40 seconds.
@ross0the0man - On top of what everyone else has said, our military has firefighters. You can join the U.S. military and become a firefighter. If a fire occurs on certain military bases, military firefighters respond. They are also trained in aircraft crash rescue. That's why our military is the best...we cover ALL bases. Think of any job in the civilian world, its probably covered in the military community.
hey man I got some serious qeustions to ask you about millitary firefighting...are you in the air force or army? im about to enlist and I wanted to know somethings about firefighting in the millitary I would really appreciate the help...I wanted to know where do you go for basic? and are you still in millitary? and did you get any certifications?
@hawaii34 odds are you will do your basic training at ft. jackson in sc,then advance to your ait. But you should ask your recruiter bout these types of questions
a tip for doing this, first control your breathing. in and out. if you stagger then u dont get the proper oxygen. second, when pulling the hose do it in a nice smooth motion. hand over hand. third, with the tire, atleast have one hand at the bottom becuase as physics applies, the larger the fulcrum, the more force you get outta it. i passed with a 5:34 using these tricks.
i get to do this wendsay... i got a 7:56 the first time round, but i dropped the damn dummy, and lost like 1:30 there. I will pass it this time, i'm sure of it. I really hope that i can, everyone has told me that its easier the 2nd time, when you have the gear on...
what is the best way to prepare for this test if you have none of the equipment?i run, lift weights and jump rope only atm anyone got any more ideas?im 6 foot 5 and can push myself really hard and never give up.someone give me ideas please!im going to take a year or 2 to get in shape and the certificates i need to qualify for the job.and all i eat is salads and drink water.
Well first... start running(hills and distance) and hiking(with weight 50lbs) at a fast pace)... Second i would recommend getting a truck tire with rim or something similar and connecting a rope to it about 50 feet of line and pull the tire to you bringing the rope through your legs also drag it through sand (simulating pulling hose and dragging hose). work on ***shoulders***, tri's, ***forearms***and biceps REPETITION is the key not just BRUT strength. good luck!
you face towards the tire and bend at the knees and try to keep your back straight and pull the rope... i guess not between your legs but it will bundle up in between your feet. basically just pull the tire towards you.
this shit aint a joke...i had to do it on friday, if your going into the AF dont rely on basic training to get you into good enough shape for the academy...start lifting asap...good luck fargo...your lucky cause it'll be cooler out in october.
