  • Hey Bill, did you get rid of the "Red Rocket" yet?

  • Sadly, it's been gone for a while, at least several months.

  • Hey Bill- Thanks for the video. You helped me figure out what was wrong with the rear wiper on my 93 Voyager, except I went through 4 wiper motors before I found out it was the ground strap on the mounting plate that was corroded.

  • You are welcome. Glad you found the problem.

I wouldn't have thought of that either, but it does stand to reason as the minivans began life on a stretched K platform.

  • You should put aerotwin wipers on it :P

  • My mom had an red 84 Aries 2.2 ....

Wipers went out 1/2 way up the windshield in a driving rainstorm an hour's drive from home.

My dad and I found the ground strap completely worn out, so we just used a wire to ground it out to that stud, like yours...

    Worked like a charm...... 5/5!!

  • does your mom still have her 1984 dodge aries k??

  • Did you change the steering wheel on that car?? Looks different than the one you had on it in the "starting the 84" video

  • No, the car is completely original, except for the radio.

  • Looks different than the one in my 84...much more fancy.

  • Hmmm...I sure don't know. I suppose it could be...this is a Reliant SE, which was (per my understanding) almost the top of the line trim level, second only to the LE. Or maybe there's a difference between Aries (if that's what you have) and Reliant wheels.

  • I think it's because yours is a fancier trim than mine. We've had two 84 Reliants (my dad had one and I had the other) that had the "basic" steering wheel. Hopefully I'll have a video up to show what I mean soon.

  • well your must of had the 2.2 chrysler motor in your k car cause if you got the bigger 2.6l Mitsubishi motor it came with a luxury steering wheel thats the one in this video cause the reliant in this video has the 2.6l Mitsubishi motor

  • Must be...my dad was pretty cheap on trim packages, and this was an off lease car anyway...

  • Love that chrome mirror, mines just black.

  • to toyotassuck01, no hondas suck do you dont see any 1984 hondas in as good of shape as the K-cars

    Long live the k-car

  • I'd suggest investing in a new set of wiper blades. Looks, and sounds, like those are the originals.

  • Nope, they are brand new. Wipers can make noises when running on mostly dry glass.

  • are those new "reflex" or "reflex with wet-tech" wipers good?

  • That's not what they are. They're just regular OEM replacement blades.

  • i was asking YOU if their good wipers to buy. im not asking if they are the ones on that car in the vid...reead the end of my sentace

  • I honestly don't know. They're only available at Canadian Tire...in Canada. I did a quick Wiki search and that's what it told me. Sorry!

  • Got one of those too. If you watched the video, you probably saw it in the background. Big if, though.

  • i didnt notice it. is it a civic?

  • 1990 Prelude. It's a fun car to drive, but both it and the Reliant are in the competition for "rustiest car".

  • take good care of the Prelude!!! Excellent cars! can u take a cold start video of it for me? oh and ur not a faggot :]

  • great to see a little Do It Yourself ingenuity going on! you're right, a $75 fix on a $100 car is not something to be taken lightly! :) I love the quarters / 'real world' experiment. You've got a great personality to host these tinkering car videos! I dig them!

  • Hey Bill or william i dunno!... Will you trust your reliant K to make a trip to davidsfarm and back?

  • Heh...I don't know what to say. I think it could get there with some tools in the back and a little luck!

  • More videos please.

  • As I've got time to make and edit them, certainly!

  • Keykeeper!

  • Yup!

  • by the way you can get 2 5x7 at walmart for 20$!!

  • you need wire brush wheel

  • I like the way I've got this grinder set up. I have wire brush wheels for a Dremel tool and hand held wire brushes if I want them.

This grinder had a twin that had two wire brush wheels on it, but I think it got separated.

  • can you show us a video of how to take the door panel off because im 13 and im emberessed at the system in the car and there is supposed to be spots in the doors for speakers!

  • I'm thinking about it. Yeah, there are supposed to be spots in the door for speakers, but it's the truth when I say that I don't like taking the trim off of car doors if I can help it.

You can put 6x9 speakers in the "package shelf" above the rear seatback in a Plymouth Reliant/Dodge Aries. That would be easier to do, and I probably will at some point.

  • @uxwbill I'm a little surprised that you didn't have rear speakers in there to begin with; my 84 Reliant (as well as the 84 my mom and dad owned) both had rear speakers and they were basic models (not LE or SE).

  • @andrewps84 No, this car never had the package shelf speakers, only the holes and "grilles" cut into the cardboard/cloth assembly. It only had an AM radio in it, so there was just the one dash speaker. Before I had to get rid of this car, I did put the rear speakers I'd purchased into place.

The effect was stunning. I clearly should have done that long ago, because the sound was really nice with all four speakers playing.

  • did you put more speakers in it?

  • No, and I don't think I am going to for now.

  • haha...i have been having problems with my passanger side window wipers. i think i broke it when i was a kid when i was yanking on it. not sure whats wrong though, maybe busted the motor. it moves but not strong enough and doesnt lock in place anymore like the other one. (as in i can move it when its off)

  • the red seats are pimp

  • Still love the quarter carwash. Is the Keykeepers ruck broke again?

  • Yeah, the Keykeeper's truck is still broken. We're actually working fuel line problems. After putting the new fuel pump in it, we've had new leaks showing up all the time.

  • how much is it to replace the wentire fuel line?

  • who knew it would be as simple as that huh? great tip!

  • It's always worth looking into the simple stuff, because you just never know (unless of course the thick black smoke came out). I certainly like cheap fixes!

  • Glad to see the Reliant is running great. BTW, didn't these cars come with electronic voice warning systems in them?

  • Yes, they did. This car doesn't have the EVA system in it though.
