Actually, if any system wants to emulate N64, it must have 64 MB or more RAM -Memory in it, or you can`t fit N64 -game on the system memory. -Simple as that...
@ghostlink2027 It is clear to me that you know nothing about emulation. Emulation is an extremely CPU intensive process since it has to be done with reverse engineering, too extreme that not even a Dreamcast can support, running the game very slowly like in the video.
Why not use a newer emulator like PJ64? Daedalus is really old and not nearly as optomized as the newer N64 Emulators out there.
I still have hope that one day N64 emulation might be "playable" on Dreamcast, however that does not have mean 100% emulation, 20 - 30 FPS would be a Dream!
Hahahahaha, no. The Zelda series is made by Nintendo - strictly a first-party developer. This is a ROM of the Nintendo 64 game The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time running on an emulator on the Sega Dreamcast - a system created in a time when Sega was a first-party developer (save for the Sega PC titles and the one-off Sonic the Hedgehog title for the SNK Neo-Geo Pocket).
there isn't OOT for dreamcast. only for N64 but however it IS available to download on wii shop channel for 1000 wii points. thats what i did. :) about i think 3 months ago i dunno..
well no emulator is perfect on dc but console like gp2x can run better emulators, gp2x has emulators like cps1,2,mega cd,psx, final burn alpha, mame, neo geo mvs,neo geo pocket color, oh man dreamcast doesn't even play some of these, it has said pandora will play dreamcast which will be really cool.
the PSP can do most of those as well and even Dreamcast and N64.
but back on topic, look at the tech specs of the Dreamcast and tell me who would have thought the homebrew community could get the Dreamcast to do what they can get it to do.
i would have thought you could not even get the DC to run a N64 emulator let alone getting like 5 FPS out of it like in this video
Yeah, precisely. This is a technical marvel which shouldn't be taken for granted. I've heard that the problem with emulators on the Dreamcast is not its processing power, but rather its rather low internal RAM - the Dreamcast only processed what was immediately visible on-screen, so if you were looking at a street-sign in Shenmue for instance, the system knew what was obstructed by the sign, but didn't actually render it until you adjusted your view - but by then other things weren't visible.
I myself knew what the Dreamcast was capable of, its hardware was awesome in the day and really it still is today. my Friend Excalibur007 (XDP Browser) helped me learn about the capabilities of the Dreamcast. even before then i knew that the Dreamcast was a powerful system only hobbled by the amount of ram it has and the lack of a better storage medium (aka DVD disk). i would have loved to seen more 3rd party support for the DC then what it did have.
I adore my Dreamcast like I adore my... oh God, I don't know... my soul? I don't think I'd change a single thing about it other than maybe let it live long enough to see a few more of the first-party releases which got ported to other consoles (Virtua Fighter 4 on Dreamcast would be amazing to play), but I've always wondered why they weren't able to give it more RAM AND implement that creative only-process-what's-on-screen technology? I don't know a ton about hardware design.
Your opinion, sir, is crap aswell. A Dreamcast only has 200 Mhz. I doubt there are any N64 Emus on the PC that would even start a game with a config like that.
I'm willing to bet that if you used a gameshark cheat to warp when you press R (then assign the R key) you could play as the Link that the game loads playing the horse (a debug Link on file 4, read only, it's a hidden secret)
This is the original rom, no compression was used. There are 2 emulators, 1 has a rom limatation of 10 mgs and only runs mario64=faster. The other 1 does not and is what i used for these videos.
eeeekkkkk!!!!! shitty 16 bit graphics in a 64 bit game!

make a PJ64 emulator for Dreamcast. it's the only emulator that runs full speed like the N64 on a console besides PC
PIKACHU49386 2 years ago
The psp was totally crap for n64 emulation.
I hardly plays anything.
It doesn`t play dk64,f-zero,zelda majora`s mask,killer instinct gold.
I have a umpc which plays nearly all of the n64 games plus it can play pc games over 500 commercial games.

nice proof of concept! dreamcast playing n64, lol

Wow how did you compress all of these roms down to 8mb limit, amazing.
fatman01923 3 years ago
Dreamcast has 16MB's of main RAM. Don't confuse the main RAM with its 8MB video RAM.
m03ez 3 years ago
i didnt i was only saying 8mb because that is what the author of the emu said.

where did he say that?
