@flanksteak6 The spark igniters are enabled by the computer at T-10 seconds. They DO NOT ignite the engines!!! I cant stress that enough! They actually burn off excess hydrogen that has escaped the engine nozzles. If the engines were ignited with a hydrogen cloud nearby then it would damage the nozzles and/or engines.
why does the burnoff system continue to run all the way until srb ignition? seems useless once the mains are ignited...i mean, the whole point of those is to burn off vapors BEFORE mes, sooo....yeah.
They keep running in case there is a main engine shutdown before the SRB's ignite. It's happened at least twice that I can recall. If the mains shut down, there is quite a bit of unignited fuel that gets ejected.
@crazybastard82 there have been 5 instances of main engine cut off prior to SRB ignition and liftoff... and a few residual vapours of hydrogen when this happens, thats why the sparklers continue right up to SRB ignition

They faked the moon landings in a studio. Here's a link to some of the evidence.

That's strange. There are no covers on the RCS thrusters. I wonder why.
