  • hahaha Chevy just anounced they are cutting production of the Volt because they only sold 1600 units out of the projected 60,000 . that means they met less than 3% of their goals. way to go Chevy, you have done it again. now go ask Obama for more bail out money.

I am considering to buy one of the Toyota hybrids soon, my parents have a 3rd generation Prius , everything about the car is nice. (Toyota Build Quality) 24,000 base price VS. 41,000 for the Volt, Chevy what were you thinking ?

  • I like the Chevy volt. But love the Tesla Model S more

  • CHEVY VOLT ANOTHER PIECE OF JUNK FROM GOVERMENT MOTORS

  • The Chevy Volt gets 40 miles on Battery electricity. Then it offers 35 MPG. Awesome!!

  • Every Volt video is the same. I've seen the dials and the trunk space 10 times.

What I want to see is.... WHAT WILL SHE DO?????

Cmon people. Take it out and slam the peddle down and let her rip.

Put it next to a civic or Prius or whatever. Make the tires squeal with excitement.

    What's the top speed?

    How's the brakes?

    How's the sound system?

Is it a chick magnet. Stop talking and drive it. dang......

    UbuntoO

  • This was a very good review. Ross hit the nail on the head with a key benefit of electric vehicles - max TORQUE. I have seen 3 Volts in 3 weeks in Atlanta. I haven't been impressed with some of the old GM's products, but I have been impressed with their new products. THis one is starting to grow on me.

  • Chevy Volt -- the poster child for crony capitalism.

  • but on gas alone, it only goes 222 miles er tank? hmmm.... Not that thats bad, nut that means twice the stops n a long trip.......

  • Why driving very slowly

It seems to me that the battery is not fully charged

  • Wow, it comes with a Smartphone remote? That is certainly forward thinking.

  • so who is selling their volt back to gm? american cars are crap.. enough said

  • @xxlap2xx American Cars ARE THE BEST.

  • @randyseck :DDDDDDDDDD lol

  • So everyone thinks GM is still an American car company huh? Ya might wanna think that again folks Engines coming from Japan and or Austria and a few from Mexico same with Transmissions some even from France. Hey GM thanks for giving us the jobs to build your parts for your cars you freakin a-holes giving other countries our jobs and you wonder why our economy sucks and unemployment is at a record high. F-off GM you suck I'll buy a Ford or Dodge before I buy your crap..

  • @soyntgo4it Oh and also Korea can't forget they get parts for their cars their to next time your on a GM lot take a look at where the parts come from on the window sticker it will amaze you

  • @soyntgo4it of course it's that time of year again...

  • @soyntgo4it you think all dodge and ford parts are made in the U.S.? think again, example the hemi engine is built in Mexico. These are word wide companies, they sell vehicles all over the world, they have plants all over the world.

I have a 2009 Malibu and the engine and trans were both built in the U.S.

    get your facts straight

  • @jesseh1970 Umm not anymore since Ford and Dodge are opening more plants in the USA. So ya I think my facts are straight.. Unlike your Engine is made in Canada and or Mexico Transmission Canada or USA I actually have scene a few that Transmission where from France and Korea. Seriously dude next time do the research and check a window sticker on your car..

  • So now if you buy a Volt you with catch on fire. Doesn't surprise me that GM builds a car then fails at it. Most of the cars are being bought back from the consumer before or after they catch fire and some are getting repaired if able. Now the FEDs are involved with it. Of course GM say these no reason to be concerned so buy our product anyway. To bad the Nissan Leaf is selling slightly better than the Volt since its prices is better. Don't worry there are still plenty of Volts at the Dealer.

  • @soyntgo4it and if I will buy a Volt, I will be happy about it because the Leaf is selling like bullshit, and the Volt is selling like crazy for the coming months

  • @RichardJoash Ya ok its actually outselling the Volt buddy sorry to say.. Don't catch fire in your Volt now ...

  • @soyntgo4it Go buy a Volt do you think your actually buying an American made vehicle.. If you think so your surely wrong on that my friend very wrong.. The Transmission is made in Japan and the Electronic drive too. The Engine comes from Austria. So makes sure your do your research before you buy another GM vehicle cause they are giving all the jobs away over seas other than giving them to us. GM AMERICAN VEHICLE BULLSHIT JUNK..

  • Eww what ugly shoes, is he wearing socks or not? Eww

  • cough cough mitsubishi I cough cough

  • My favorite car reviewer by far. Straight forward, doesn't sound like he's trying to entertain, just the info.

  • I think the nissan leaf is a much simpler and better car than the volt. Hopefully they will come up with much better mileage in future versions of the leaf ...

  • @zaneacademy but the Volt has more hours of fun for the whole family than the Leaf, even if a teenager can ride a bike

  • GM began selling the Chevrolet Volt, a plug-in car that can drive about 35 miles on a fully charged battery before turning on a gasoline engine to generate electricity for further driving, at the end of 2010. While GM had expected to sell 10,000 Volts by the end of 2011, only about 4,000 have been sold so far. Still, GM spokesman Rob Peterson said sales will pick up now that the Volt is being sold nationwide. Until recently it was only available in a few states. Sounds like Bankruptcy again.

  • @soyntgo4it until today. it does not sound like bankrupt to me, because the Volt was unveiled as a concept during the Bush administration ;)

  • @RichardJoash The still haven't sold all the productions vehicles they made for the year. Now that these cars catch on fire..Now GM is buying some of these back from the consumer so ya sounds like bankruptcy again to me. GM can't make a car with out having FAILED at it

  • @soyntgo4it you sound like bullshit to me

  • @RichardJoash Well sorry if your retarded and sorry that I know my shit. Your just another consumer that is to busy not caring about what hes actually buying just what color it comes in hahahaha

  • One other correction, or correction #4, ( see my last post ) is that the Volt's cargo area is roughly that of a current Prius - seats up, and/or down. One note worth taking is that the Volt is a four-seater, not five like Prius or Leaf. That said, you also misclaimed Leaf has more cargo room - In fact, it has MUCH LESS. There is a large deep hole in the Leaf cargo area, with a 14" rise - making NO FLAT FLOOR with seats down. Pls. get your facts straight next time - as you will lose credibility.

  • With all respect - Your facts are all to often wrong. 1) Volt's gas tank holds 9.3, not " a tiny tank holding 6 gal ". 2) the 93mpg on electric only graphic and statement is wrong. EPA's rating is 93MPGe - the e meaning "equivelent" give or take the cost of electricity where u live. In essence, many who go 40 miles per day gas free are getting hundreds of miles per gal. and more! 3) Volt DOES NOT come with a cell phone! It's an APP - just an APP from GM and OnStar to manage charge, etc

  • The Volt comes with a Droid? SCORE!

  • These are sooo much better looking than the Leaf.

  • My main beef with the Volt IS that blacked out portion under the side windows. I can't stand how it's trying to look like the windows are larger, when they aren't. Look at the bottom of the window and where it lines up with Ross during his drive. Somewhere around his shoulder/neck.

  • pretty Chevy but its the same as always.

    Isnt that car a fastback?

  • I like Ross but i want to see another Emme or Elizabeth review. :)

  • Roadflyyyy when will you make a 2011/2012 Chrysler 300 review!?!?

  • Please test drive the 2012 VW Jetta GLI.

  • 1.the range of electric drive is too short.

2.the rear storage is too small

3.the rear seats are just for two

    I think I'd rather buy a plug-in Prius

  • @krirks you are trolling

  • Respond to this video...

  • I'd buy one if it were $10k cheaper and had some long-term reliability records behind it.

Unfortunately for GM, there is a plug-in competitor that IS $10K cheaper and has proven itself very reliable...the Toyota Prius.

I know GM has a lot of R&D costs to recover with this model, but they really need to take it on the chin and get as many of these these cars out on the road as possible.

  • I understand the differences between the various hybrid modes: electric only, gas-primary or electric-primary.

But is any one 'better' or generally more efficient than the others?

  • ill buy one of these cars when the price drops to around 20k

  • I didn't get that little phone with my Volt? I don't think you get a phone with the car.

  • Wish they had put a higher capacity battery and a smaller gas engine in this.

  • How does this car stack up against Nissans Leaf? If you had to pick one which would it be?

  • I would buy one besides the last gen malibu

  • Can it transform into a robot?

  • EV1 is back, with lower capacitiy....

  • I ve seen only two genuine car reviewers in youtube. one is You Ross and other is steve hammes. all others are just simply shit. just blah blah blah. congrats and best wishes

  • @robincrack786 what about Tom Voelk, who does the drivencarreviews?

  • @itsTiLER Sorry man. thanks for introducing him to me. never saw his video. amazing.. added one more guy to list. thanks and i subscribed to him.

  • @robincrack786 you forgot Tom Voelk of Driven car reviews because he is a 3rd genuine reviewer in youtube

  • someone please explain the phone

  • Comment removed

  • @Igreen5 obviously not possible for the increase of accleration youd need less weight = lower saftey + worse gas mileage probably would be like 45 mpg. I they actually did that i wouldnt hesitate to buy it

  • European Diesel engine is much better on MPG. Like it been say the price too high, and the power too low.

  • What it would take for me to buy a Volt? First, replace the gas generator with a European car makers excellent diesel engine. Some of these engines are rated at 60 plus miles per gallon. Next, increase the size and or power of the electric motor. 0 to 60 in 9 second is unacceptable. Give the world something to talk about with a 0 to 60 time of 5 seconds. Then upgrade the tire and suspension setting or make it an option.

  • But, it's a GM product. The Union has ruined that company.

  • How bout some reviews for the new chrysler products. ie. 200, 300, charger, or challenger maybe?

  • for me ill still use a gasoline car and wait until the electric cars are fully developed like if the leaf could like up to 200-300mi a charge.

  • Why does it has to be a Hatch Back Ross?

    I'm just curious.

  • ROSS is the BOSS thumbs up!

  • Comment removed

  • Good review Ross. I just watched your video review of the Honda Civic Si from 07. You have lost weight !

  • and I really like his Volt Review

  • I wish you guys would send Ross to Frankfurt so he could do some nice coverage of the motorshow. I think I would even pay to see his reviews.

  • Ross is Amazing! I have read every review, watched every video review I came across and Ross was the only reviewer to make me feel like i just test drove this car! Now 6 gas tank isn't that big if your traveling cross country but that's not what this car is for is it. GM DID THE RIGHT thing with the range extender gas tank. Until there is a charging station on every corner ST. And the batteries get a 200 mile range we need alternative power source. The Leaf scares me and I only drive 100 miles

  • car looks nice

  • 7 people who drove the Leaf

  • Wait...why like the Volt concept (being a extended range vehicle)

-Once the electric motor cuts out gets only 37 mpg?(isnt 95/90mpg misleading)

    -Seats only 4 people?

-Has less space than other hybrid/electric cars?

-It cost more than its competition?

-And at $40,000 feels cheaper than the 20k less Chevy Cruze?

-So why not buy a Curze Eco? (has 28/42 mpg, has better quality, less expensive,And seats 5). So would you still buy a volt? and why?

  • @F117DJS I think you miss the point. The Volt get between 25 - 50 miles using the battery only (i.e. infinite MPG). After the battery is depleted it's ~ 37 mpg. So 90/95 mpg is misleading, because you might be 250/500 mpg. The Prius and Leaf and basically econo cars compared to this. If you upgrade the Leaf and Prius to their highest levels they will still feel cheaper and be in the same ballpark as the Volt's cost. Test drive one and you'll see it's very different.

  • For what Ross lacks in stature and footwear he makes up for in reviewing prowess. Good things come in small packages

  • Ross is the best reviewer. Please let him host more. Clear and to the point!

  • This is a nice car for a GM product but does not work too well, only 35 electric miles, and almost $50k?!! I'll buy a Nissan Leaf and with the left over $10k you'd save buying the Leaf over the Volt I'd buy a Sentra or Altima that will get over 30 MPG for my long trips if needed.

  • @noriceformeplz I concur that I would buy the Volt over the Leaf and Altima you idiot!

  • @noriceformeplz The Volt get's 25-50+ miles on electric only depending on how you drive it. Also the Leaf is only ~ $4k less than a Volt. You must have missed the price hike. The top line Volt ~ $46k - $7.5k tax rebate = $38.5. Leaf ~ $39k - $7.5k = $32.5k. The difference is $6k and that doesn't include the necessary 240V charger you'll need for the Leaf, not as necessary for the Volt. Unless you're willing to wait 20 hrs to fully charge the Leaf.

  • Another Great Video by Ross! Thank You Roadfly!

  • I believe that the Volt is the bridge to an electronic personal transportation future. Great review Ross. You make even normal cars more interesting.

  • chevy pay the phone bill for the phone they provide?

  • No thanks, their sales are pathetic too. This car wont last. GM, stick with your Camaro, traverse and other good selling cars you have. 44k for a car is like no but HELL NO. Im going Acura or Infinity for that price :)

  • I remember reading about this on Autoblog, I thought this car would NEVER exsist.

  • @chrisw40 how offensive!!!!!! idiot

  • I like the concept of this car and I think the execution was good apart from the range on electric only energy and the fact that it's a four seater. However, when you can get a fully loaded leaf for 27k after tax, spending 35-37k for this seems really steep.

  • EMMIE

  • ross is da' boss.

  • I wonder how much GM is losing per Volt.

Also I have seen one volt. It was on the back of a trailer.

  • @GhostofRazors Well, every Volt is taxpayer subsidized to the tune of at least $8000, so we know how much taxpayers are losing on each one.

  • @WesSeid Actully its subsidized to the tune of $250,000. EACH. Google chevy volt 250 000.

  • I really like mr. Rapaport

  • The Volt looks so much better in black. I really don't care for the disjointed lower body cladding along the doors or the lower window trim. It just makes it look odd on a white car.

  • I love the Volt. I think GM has done a great job on this (for a change)

  • Nice review on the Volt.

It is not a bad car for what it does.

  • wow those doors are HIGH! silly Chevy and their tank like cars.

  • Great, this is the future. But one thing he did not mention anything about. How expensive is the maintenance for this car? price wise, is it worth it as compared to a Honda Insight? Will your electric bill go up and replace your gas expense? How long or miles will that battery last for? How much will be to replace the battery and available everywhere and fast to replace and get? Will I save myself more money having my 2006 Honda accord 4 cylinder which runs 100% good?

  • @sebasitsme Maintenance is low, batteries warranteed for 10 years. Cost with incentives is in the $32K range and with savings in energy you are going to spend about the same if you bought a Cruze and paid for gas. Cost of electric is less than gas - it costs me about $2.65 to go 100 miles. At my local station, gas is $4.25/gallon so it would cost over $13 to go that distance on gasoline assuming your car got 32 MPG.

I spend $40-60 on gas.

  • i am glad that red hair lady don't do review , she is so unprofessional.

this is how i like my information presented

    thank you Road Fly

  • There's no such thing as a "gas motor", If it runs on gas its an "engine", electricity a "motor". LOL

  • This car isn't THAT bad. I was pretty critical of it on saabkyle04's video but it's easy to criticize stuff. I still won't ever buy it but it does have some cool technology.

  • yo where's Emme Hall at?

  • WTF Ross Rapaport again? I'm unsubscribing.

  • You're a great reviewer! But I will never buy anything from Government Motors! Looks to me like another cheap overpriced piece of GM junk, and more than likely you will never see a savings from.

  • Yes!!! I wanted a review from Roadfly on the Volt. I'm going off to college soon, and it's a car i'm definitely considering.

  • The Volt brings the haters out of the woodwork for sure...I think it truly pisses people off that GM makes such an advanced vehicle and many writers and enthusiasts have said the most technologically advanced vehicle available for purchase today. Some of the haters don't like GM for good reason, some with no good reason....and thats fine but I hate that they cloud reality with mis-information. I love watching reviews whether positive or negative as long as they get the facts straight.

  • Weeee Man!!!

  • Dear Roadfly, you should have Ross Rapaport do all the reviews. I only care about what he has to say about cars.

  • @Hahaitssayed Thank you! We love Ross too!

    -Charlie@RoadflyTV

  • @roadflytv so how far does that 6 gallon tank take you ???????

  • @Hahaitssayed shut up! jessi lang should do all the reviews!! she is sooo hot!!!! xDD

  • @jofe901

Be prepared for a long wait. Jessi left Road Fly around Feb of this year.

  • @Hahaitssayed Ross = straight forward no nonsense good review. The other guys are good to, but Ross has turned into the go to guy now that there is no more Jessie.

  • The only drawback? how about the fact that this car requires both electric AND gasoline engine maintanance? The powertrain system is MUCH more complex than that of the Leaf, the Leaf sits 5 not 4, and the Leaf gives you more than double the amount of miles on pure EV mode. In the Volt, someone who works 30 miles from home such as me, would have to use gasoline everyday, thus defeating the purpose of having an EV and becoming much more expensive to use, besidesthat this car is 10K more expensive

  • too expensive.

  • You are a fucking reviewer, that's why i subscribed.

  • Only 4 seats that's shit an .electric car but uses an engine so you continue to pay your government money in gas tax .

  • Show us your forearm workout.

    No homo.

  • i have never seen one of these on the road ever since its debut.. this car is more rare than a six figure exotic.

  • @BigBoss13198 It depends on where you live. It's being released in phases in certain parts of the country. It probably hasn't been released in your area yet.

  • I smell bankruptcy again GM have we learned anything yet. 40k for this car total joke. Even though its not a Hybrid but I think I'll take a Hybrid over this and save my money. GM builds this car instead of revamping the Malibu,Impala,Silverado,Tahoe,Suburban even though they are due out with a new design for 2012? or 2013 but a bit late dont you think? They are so slow at doing this with their cars every other company changes their Fleet like every 2-3 yrs time to catch up GM.

  • @soyntgo4it Exactly! why are they using my tax dollars on this it could of went to feeding some of the starving children in America. Instead, cheap, over priced, low quality, unreliable JUNK. they're nothing but liars and thieves, saying they paid their bailout back, could have used it on their current garbage, but instead they run to Mexico for more cheap junk, cause let's be honest GM stopped being a true American car company decades ago. When this country cared about quality.

  • I would like to see more exotics, such as Maserati, being reviewed

  • AM I the only guy that loves this car and wants one and would love it?

i wish it came in a traditional wagon instead of a lame half ass hatch back and it should get atleast 100 miles on a charge , if not even 50 , i mean if it cant get the equivilant of 4 gallons of gas ,or $15 or even $7.50 for 50 miles,

it's not much of a selling point , 35 miles per gallon thats like a gallon and a half worth of gas , but it does add up , i'm just saying that in the next generation the range should improve

  • Very nice car, and great review as well

  • this guy i so boring. yet somehow he gets the best cars.

  • To be honest, for that money the car should be a Buick or have a straight up Buick clone.

FYI GM okay'ed Cadillac's Voltec Coupe the ELR. Expect that in a year or two. Also Akerson has been pushing the engineers to develop a much less expensive "Ver 2.0" Voltec. So think VOLT 2.0 costing $30K instead of $40K.

But the problem remains the cost of the batteries which make up about $12K of the cost of the VOLT.

  • i hear something, clop, clop, clop, clop. oh that's just the march of the haters, lol.

  • saabkyle04 said this takes premium gas, is that true?

  • If i had to choose then i would rather have a pruis. How will I save on fuel and the environment if I'm paying out the yang to do it? None of these cars make any financial sense to me.

  • @Artyfil do you mean the ford taurus looks like the chevy volt? The volt was designed before the ford.

  • Yeah...I'll stick with my G37 for that price.

  • @Kevbox2008 I'll stick with my 2011 Maxima, because it employed US workers and is built with Japanese quality. Not some more junk from Government Motors.

  • @Zinizzle Yeah, I had considered buying a Maxima but it doesn't come with a manual transmission anymore. I know the manual is 125-year-old technology but so is the internal combustion engine. Besides, I don't feel like I'm REALLY driving unless I can shift -- and paddle shifters don't count. ;^)

  • Until the price drops on this car, it is really going to be hard to sell this to people who aren't trying to make an environmental statement with their cars.

  • Great review Ross.

  • I just don't get it, or care for it. The price is not justified.

  • please put out more videos a week...

  • @sapdaman1 We have been swamped with a few projects. I wish we could get more videos out. At least two per week right?!?! We're working on it. Thanks for your feedback.

    -Charlie@RoadflyTV

  • @roadflytv what happened to jessi lane?

  • I find the Volt very ugly. For one thing, I don't get the black trim under the windows.....just looks cheap to me.

  • This is actually a practical vehicle because all electric cars out there are not really ready for the road

  • Looks like the Opel Ampera... it looks a bit ugly, but i did enjoy your review of it. Roadflytv & Saabkyle04 are the best car reviewers.

  • is it just me or does the front end kinda resemble a new ford taurus?

  • where is the boss 302 review?!?!?!?!?

  • @ronaldom1121 your right

  • @ronaldom1121 Guys we have a few videos that are in front of the Boss review. I think there are 2 or 3 that come before it. One of the videos is the 2012 A6 which is a super nice car. I also will be posting a Roadfly Gear segment about the new Goodyear TripleTred tires.

    -Charlie@RoadflyTV

  • So they give you a phone? Do you have to make payments on the phone or is it included with a OnStar package?

  • Thanks for the video! I enjoyed hearing your take on the Volt.
