Suddenly, a group of ninjas jump on the deck, and stalk across the ship, taking out two drunken sentries before heading belowdecks, into the crew quarters. They dispatch the only pirate awake, then jump from hammock to hammock, slashing away...until one of the ninjas lights a lantern, revealing no men are in the hammocks, only dummies. The downed pirate laughs heartily, catching their attention..

Hmm...it would be interesting to see one develop. Imagine sort of a continuing story in which warriors from each culture meet and fight, maybe even teaming up. All the while the narrator would outline the history behind their weapons, but the story in my mind would be told straight; men and woman of action encountering new threats with weapons beyond their imagination and tactics they've never seen before.
