  • more than a derailment.

  • this is not dark territory. I installed all the new signals in this area with CP. This area is 20 km west of Marathon.

If you dont know what your talking about, best not post anything because you just make yourselves look like abunch of retards

  • donde es...

  • crash pacific thumbs up lol

  • if i recall correctly, a train can't park like that in that spot

  • Do Canadian Pacific SD90MACs still run?

  • i alwasy said CP is bad for you....

  • I wonder if it freaks out the locomotives to see their brothers on the ground...

  • It's not dark territory - nor is it OCS - it is CP's transcon mainline and is CTC with signalled sidings. If that train ran into the rear of the other train then someone wasn't doing his/her job properly. You can bet the crew got demerits for this one!

  • @tprdfh51 most railroads fire someone automatically if they run a siginal. i know that's the case for UP, CN, and BNSF.

  • @MrNotch9 no they don't...it all depends on the circumstances of the event and what the crew did after running the stop signal. These are matters which are determined after a thorough investigation into the affair by the company, Transport Canada and the crewmember's union rep.

  • @tprdfh51 well, my sources come from a man who spent 20 years on 3 different railroads. not saying things haven't changed in the last 9 years, but i'd think his information is somewhat accurate

  • @MrNotch9 don't know who your man is or what he does but I can say after 25 years of service and holding elected office in the BLE and TCRC running a stop signal is not an automatic dismissal...it all depends on the individual circumstances of the event and what the crew involved does after going by the stop signal.

  • @MrNotch9 As a long time railroad man, I can tell you that running a signal will not lead to automatic dismissal.. You will be taken out of service peding an investigation and upon the completion of the investigation you will be told what and how much time you will be given off. It could range anywhere from a week to 3-6 months depending if you have had any other infractions. That goes for all railroads.

  • OMG what caused it? was there a CSX freight car somewhere in the mix??? :)

  • hey jack where was this if its where i think it is i could give you more info on what hapen

  • I can't find my notes at the moment, so I can't give you the mp, but its was a mile or so hike west of the crossing at Coldwell. West end of Coldwell siding switch. Thanks for looking, Jack

  • Where is this located? Ontario? Which city?

  • As written in the above post. Its at Coldwell. There is NO big cities in Northern Ontario. It is west of the town of Marathon ONT. on Lake Superior. Thanks for looking. Jackmp294

  • @1jackdk there are only 2 big cities in Northern Ontario. Greater Sudbury and Thunder Bay.

  • @trainzandbridgez101 looks like bc

  • Dark territory is where they don't have signals. You know, like the red and green lights that let them know if they can go or if they have to stop. They have to call the dispatchers and get track warrants in order to move the train.

  • Hey armyof11 go fuck yourself. Mabye we should talk about all the american companies that have flooded Canada. And you are bitching about the Canadian railroad in the U.S. Get a life.

P.S. Merry fuckin Christmas, and how is the economy down there???

  • @baxternos I remember when the CN bought the Elgin, Joliet, and Eastern Railway down here and everyone was throwing a shit fit about it and "dangerous cargo". The EJE hauled nuclear waste for Christs sake. I bet that guy was from Plainfield, IL.

  • nice horn

  • I think they call that ''dark territory''.

  • I very sure that dark territory is area where there is no radio communication. This is just a matter of someone turning the knob on the radio to change to another channel for that section of railroad.

  • @1jackdk Actually dark territory is when there is no signals.

  • @6060steamfreak Dark territory is no signal indication for that subdivision. You will always have radio communication with the dispatcher. Your "run" is determind either by the length of the mileposts the dispatcher gives you to operate in between, or by "blocks" wich is a certain section of track given a name to cover sections of track.

  • Any one knows what happen? The cause? I know that these days they are pointing at bad axles.

  • This was error on someones part. This area is where they change radio channels, and there was a train already in the siding. The second train pulled into the siding and rear ended the one already in there. Someone missed a radio conversation somewhere along the line.

  • Crapnada?? It is too bad the USA was not free like Canada.

    USA "Land of the Free"???

  • The whole world talks trash about the usa.

  • it still freaks me out how theese CP's can handle those slanted turns, wouldnt they just fall off? or is it too less of a slant?

  • reality kick's in from graeme

  • hey is this the one that happened over in mn like two weeks ago or so

  • This one happened in Sept 2007 at Coldwell, Ontario, which is on the North Shore of Lake Superior. Take care, Jack
