Fantastic! - Heard this on my moms record player when I was about 5. - She stills have it. - I'm an Elvis -fan,and enjoy his version very much, but listen also to this swedish version which I think is just extremely good
Well, if you like soul music, then you listen to artists who were influenced by those who innovated the genre or who grew up in that part of the country. Mind you, these boys were from Sweden, which is as far from Memphis as you can get. If you were expecting soul from a Swedish group, you came to the wrong place to begin with, and that's the best I can tell you.
Clear late 50's Elvis country style influence on this song Sharon. Seems the Hep Stars were pretty versatile! Well done on the vid, excellent good pics of the group here.
I really like the effects you've added to the video Sharon. They really make the vid come alive! It's neat just to listen to, you could put just about any 50's group in this video. And I see what you man about Elvis's influences, they're all over this little number! Very nice video Sharon.
Thanks, Jim! The only thing that was missing here was that great ending the Jordanaires gave Elvis's version of this. But hey, it was the '60s, and they were the HEP Stars...Hep, as in Cool, up-to-date. There are SO many versions of this on YouTube, even the original version by the guys who wrote it dating back to 1941! Jim & Jesse's version is awesome!
I like the old country. My daughter is a Keith Whitley fan. I was happy to hear this tho. You keep posting cause I know there are tons of younger viewers than I. Thanks
Thank you, Shay! My Windows Movie Maker was acting all weird all during the making of this, so I made it twice with 2 layers of audio. It was really frustrating. I'm glad to see that I wasn't the only one who thought they were influenced by Elvis here, Jim thought so, too. A lot of the Heps' early stuff were covers, and most of those were folk songs. They even did "Four Strong Winds," which was a country hit here in America as well.
I did some research. "Four Strong Winds" was done by Bobby Bare (I thought it was, but I didn't want to say for sure until I looked it up), he had the only country version of it here in America that charted. It went to #5 here in 1964. It was written by a Canadian, Ian Tyson. I still hear it on the radio a lot.
Den bästa versionen, bättre än Elvis gjorde den. En fantastisk sång.

Frida said in an interview that she thought
"The Hep Stars" were horrible and that she never would've thought that Benny would be her husband. LOL

This is the band where Benny Andersson from ABBA used to play before he founded the best swedish popband ever.

Nice work on the video Sharon, with the 'rain' clips and the rare photos
Sounds a bit like 'Blue moon of Kentucky'
