  • wise lyrics like allways, and those two, wow!!!! that's really tite!!! a rebeldy for a remedy.

  • GM <3 THIS SONG AS WELL

  • timeless beat...timeless lyrics..timeless flow...timeless subject...

  • This is something to digest!! Here's the answer that so many rappers are at a lost for...the same street games, bragging and degrading our sistas and each other. He may never be at the top where he belongs but he makes my A-list.

  • btw great work xtupacalypse

  • This is why I love Talib!

  • This is incredible. Kweli treats each character from Simone's song with such deep compassion and understanding as if he knew each of them in life. It's a beautiful homage to the work of the inspirational Ms. Nina Simone.

  • DOPE MASH-UP! thanks for doing this. i have it in rotation now

  • Whoah this is soooo dope! luv both the versions n how Talib flips it bt still maintains the original..

Big upss 2 who ever mixed this!

  • WHY R TRY SLEEPING ON TALIB KWELI???

  • @kevinhagan17 Because Talib is "The Truth" and people don't want to hear the truth. They want to live in a fantasy world with there slave chains and their fake lives. The Truth hurts and thats Talib is a dangerous emcee.

  • DAMN...HOTT MIX..KUDOS TO U !!!! THE WAY THE OLD AND NEW COME TOGETHER CORRECTLY!

  • wow... the original outro is dope but with you adding in the original nina simone track makes it extra special, absolutely love it thx!!!

  • could you possible send this to me ?

  • This is poetry!

  • This is a Classic! Check out "De Blyss- Love is mystery" for more positive love hip hop songs!

  • i use to blast this joint on repeat off my reflection eternal cd. classic. my mother who is african loves this as well

  • then right back to nigga

  • This is the song that got me really interested in the underground. At around the same time i copped the Sway and King Tech This or That. And I've been in the underground ever since.

  • this is a cool mix

  • i am encouraged. Thank you brother T. Goddess bless.

  • great job with this, the original would have to be represented with such consciousness and soul, giving thanks

  • lovely 2 great great artists

  • Wheres is the original version????

  • @sonicsoundwaveus You can find it on youtube Nina simone 4 women

  • Kweli is over the top with this one...what a genius

  • Word!!

  • I LOVED this hidden track. It was a nice end to a classic album.

  • Do you know the name of the song in the beginning and where I can find it?

  • I think its called "Four women" by Nina Simone.

Talib Kweli's version is "For Women."

google nina simone four women. Shouldn't be hard to find.

  • thx

  • wow. I thought I was the only black man who listened to nina. wow. wow.

  • How would you say that? Nina is a classic!

  • Well u not Brotha...I got introduced to Nina's music in 2008 and i'm hooked...powerful Black Woman!

  • I had to analyze the lyrics to this song in 8th grade. This is the first time I've actually heard it. It makes a lot more sense now.

  • BLACK IS A STATUS! NOT A NATIONALITY.

It's about time we stop being BLACK. hOTEP

  • (1 of n)

I hear what you are trying to say. But imma have to suggest that you rephrase your thoughts, and you let me know what u think.

No, we are racially Black. But we are NOT *BEING* culturally Black. We are racially Afrikan. But we are NOT being Afrikan.

So, Black is equal to Afrikan and vice versa. So Black Nationality = Afrikan Nationality.

We should never, NEVER deny that we are Black. If we deny that we are ...

  • (2 of n)

... Black then ONE OF the MANY things that gets fucked with would be Kmt. As u know, Kmt means Black Land.

If we are not BEING Black, then what are we BEING? We are BEING caricature of whiteness; I know it is so because for the most-est part, we are trying to be white; we keep trying to head toward whiteness. So, u take white people, make a caricature version of of that, and that's what we are BEING: A caricature of whiteness.

    In some parts of ...

  • (3 of n)

... The Black Continent, we are BEING caricature of arabness.

Even IN Afrika (and everywhere else Black People are found), we are ALSO tryna BE caricature of whiteness or arabness.

So, we need to return to BEING Black. We need to return to BEING Afrikan.

Black is a Nationality. Black Nationality = Afrikan Nationality.

  • Probably the best single track ever created

  • this was sick, nice work

  • I enjoyed watching this. If it wasn't for Talib Kweli I might not have ever heard of Nina Simone.

  • Black culture isnt all bout club bouncin and stuff. Hip hop really needs to recognize.

  • word

  • Tell that 2 BET.

  • @civilrights22 do you really think they will listen?

  • @Sagefrakrobatik No, not really cause they got money on the mind!

  • Integrating the two songs into one single track adds a lil something special...

  • well spent 9 mins! wot a genius song! love you talib!!!

  • Love 'dis woman! LOVE this MAN!

  • I love this. Talib once again showing why kicking knowledge is not a bad thing. Now if only all these club anthem, auto tuning mother fuckers would cut that shit out and get back to the basics.

  • @Paradiseimp I'm a tremendous Talib fan but the club anthem, auto tuning mother fuckers actually don't need to cut shit out. That's what they do. Talib does what he does. I like the fact that its my choice to lean towards the music Talib makes. Its the industry providing those "mainstream" artists the avenue they need and societies fault for supporting the music you dislike. You need to thank those club bangers for making Talibs music seem SO much better. You need opposites and conflict.

  • Work of Art

  • real beautiful

  • Brings tears to my eyes... Job well done Talib... This is a hip hop classic...

  • if you'd look back to the beginning of rap.. you'll find that rappers have always been sampling..musicians of all types use and build off the works of others....

  • this came before kanye you hater

  • You shoud first read history of rappers, after you can write a comment....! And 90% of commercal music is stolen.........(sorry for my english...from switzerland)

  • seriously it started with mc hammer fool

  • Just her presence was a blessing and her essence was a lesson.

    This is real hip-hop.

  • Wow. Everytime I hear your mix, I hear something new. Brilliant. Talib is brilliant, Nina Simone is brilliant...and so is this mix.

    Bless!

  • women got to open their eyes to tha real of their self an go to tha high point of their self an know who you are.tha producer of tha all living of this earth point blank, tha teacher of life.that is tha whole thing of a women...tha all living.

  • this is 4 reel - 4 real to heavy man real music real consciousness where u at come back!!!!

  • without a doubt talib's best song and a sure hip hop classic.

  • AMAZING......

  • This is the best rapsong ever. Watch out you fucking wifebeaters. One Love to all women.

  • you get much respect for this blend! i would be sooo happy if you could send me this as an mp3 please and thank you!!

  • I'm not a rap fan at all, but this collab is powerful, and I'm glad to see Nina's masterpiece reach today's young people.

  • Do yall know if both Talib and Nina's interpretation of these four women were inspired or derived from Jean Toomer's Cane? Cane was a prolific book of poetic prose in the Harlem Renaissance. Its by far such a timeless piece of work and this song really brings to my mind the stories of the women that Toomer explored in that book. I really recommend that book to everyone

  • thank u!

  • nice collab. i like it

  • nice idea! the fusion of 2 great songs.

  • this is a beautiful song, and i think dr. simone would've loved it.

  • This is not rap my friend this is hip hop which is another form of poetry of which dr simone loved ,so go and shit on someone else's culture..

  • omg ive found it!!! i lost this and never knew what it was or called or anything! i msooo happy!! thanx u to the person. LOADS :) and to talib and nina :)

  • This is really one of the most effective, emotional songs I've ever heard. It's a shame this was a bonus track on "Train Of Thought", since it's better than any other song on that album.

  • Is that repeated line "freak with soul"?! First Wendy Rene's After Laughter now this. Love it.

    nice remix...

  • What he said:

MAD props for this one kid

  • Talib Kweli is my favorite M.C. hands down.

He doesn't get the respect he deserves. Every artist in every genre should give him props because he really is one of the greatest that ever lived.

  • he gets the respects he deserves, he just doesn't get the attention he should. a lot of rappers and rock musicians are big fans of him

  • yo, WHERE can I get the mp3 for this. I need this, it's beautifulll.

  • well i put 2 songs into one, the first is 4 women by nina simone and the 2nd is expansion outro by talib kweli, which one would you like?

  • may I have both please? ^_^

originally I just wanted the talib version, but both mp3 would be nice, thanks :)

I'll send you my e-mail through a message
