  • min 3:00 LOL! You´re kidding me! How blatant can you get? So she hates the QT... show a lil class lady. :D

  • one of the most genuine acceptance speeches I've heard by far,

it's not the usual "I'd like to thank this guy and that guy and then I'm gonna thank my family.." etc. it's an actual acceptance speech!

you get the feeling that what he says comes from the heart, god bless him!

  • I'm sure Hollywood is looking for a project for Waltz and he's reading scripts. He's probably flying back and forth to L.A. to talk to the "suits" at the studios, but I hope they don't type cast him as a villain. He was very funny at times as the evil yet complicated Col. Landa. He should pursue a path more like Anthony Hopkins.

  • brilliant acting, brilliant multilingual speaking -as far as i'm concerned

    i can understand those 3 languages because i'm french & i've learned

english and german at school- he has a brilliant accent for each of those

    languages, way better than mine...

On top of that, he's so humble, so modest...

His work in the movie was just perfect...

As we say in France, "Chapeau l'artiste !"

  • I don't think she was making a face I think the camera was just on her at a moment she mouth moved. Huppert is far to sophisticated to do something as low brow as making a disagreeable face during an award ceremony.

  • @mymarty23 i agree. it sure did catch her at a funny moment though. that face was like, "Hmmph, yeah yeah yeah."

  • 3 languages articulated so eloquently in 3 minutes, I'd give him a standing ovation for that, multilinguists are sooo awesome!! and as for that woman's expression, she could've just been looking at something, she might not necessarily have been reacting to what he was saying

  • Christoph Waltz is the only good thing is the geek of the bastards, the most popular and commercial film by Tarantino, who is far from the capacity of this director's talent.

  • I hate the english dubbing

  • I guess Isabelle Huppert doesn't rate Tarantino very highly.

Far enough, but for all his ranting and raving about himself and general egotism, at least he doesn't make pretentious, pseudo-intellectual crap like 'La Pianiste' and 'Ma Mere'.

I would say it's quite rude to make faces like that when you're being filmed but, on the other hand, it's a very French thing to do, to not hide one's disdain even if it may offend.

P.S. I love France and don't dislike Huppert as an actress.

  • who knows what went through her mind at that very moment. Maybe- "duh, of course Tarantino is awesome..."

  • @hihuy3 hahaha i just rolled down on the floor laughing

  • Where are these videos showing his general egotism and his ranting and raving about himself?

  • @josephscott80 , yeah Tarantino had a problem when Pulp Fiction won. His acclaim is very divided among many critics and movie goers alike. Huppert

is a fabolous actress, i didnt take any offense - a lot of people think Tarantino is overrated. I think he's had his share of failures, but also successes. He definitely redeemed himself with Inglourious Basterds.

  • Well, Madame Huppert, we still have to work on that smile acting of yours....

  • @TheLegendaryDoc She was still mad Charlotte Gainsbourg one-upped her on the you-know-where mutilation front.

  • "you gave me my vocation back" .. wow, he really admires Quentin.

  • 7 MILLION JEWS , CARL WATLES THANKYOU SATan someome wpon

  • oh wow! christoph is so amazing!

  • 1:23 even his walk is HOT

  • LOL The actress presenting the award puts on such a cheesy fake smile its ridiculous.

P.S. Christoph Waltz is fucking awesome.

  • Christoph Waltz is a wonderful actor at the right place at the right time. He is so deserving.

  • my... he's simply gorgeous.

  • Christoph scared the piss out of people as Hans Landa and here he is so humble and thankful of Tarantino it really moves me.

Tarantino took a largely unknown but talented middle aged Austrian TV actor to international stardom and acclaim with his superb writing and directing skills. Waltz's life is changed forever.

  • well said buddy

  • Maybe Huppert wanted a part in the movie and Quentin didn't give her.

  • haha, great!!!! i do love her for this....

  • pfft-hahaha!!! 3:02 reaction

  • LOL @ the reaction. She's so over it.

  • don't talk shit on huppert.

she's possibly the greatest actress in modern cinema..

and i don't care if she made a face..that was like a 5-milisecond reaction shot, and it could have been taken out of context...it could have meant anything...

  • @jamorains i agree zhang ziyi is great

  • to be the first in an endless line of prizes... ;)

    fuck huppert

  • @LCC007TB She was never up for Kruger's part. I think it was the role of the former owner of the cinema. The role went to Maggie Cheung, but was completely cut off in the theatrical release.

  • Comment removed

  • Huppert looked like an ass cuz she declined a role in Inglorious Basterds. Simple.

  • lol

  • What a beautiful speech, especially that part at the end. He's amazing! I love him.

  • @CockBlock47 blockhead is more like it

  • christoph for Oscar!!!

  • It would be just great if this extraordinary actor, Christoph Waltz, would win the OSCAR for his amazing performance. I did not know him before I saw this film, but he really impressed me! He did a great job! So - good luck for him at the academy awards 2010.

  • I fucking love this guy. He is truly talented and like most have already said, "brilliant"! Well done sir, well done. He is very humble and grateful to work with Tarantino, which leads me to my next point. Quentin Tarantino is the greatest.

  • that's an absurd, he was the principal actor of the movie, not pitt.

  • OMG this guy really speaks perfect French as he does English. It's not just lines he memorized for the movie.

  • dumbest animal on earth, you are

  • Comment removed

  • @prueba67651 hairy, ignorant latino

  • He left his award-box on at the podium!! I hope he went back and got it.

  • Huppert looks rather bored most of the time, anyway. (Check any press conference on any clip on this site!) That's just her face. I don't think she would make a face like that purposely, with any disrespect towards Waltz. That's just what I'm saying though.

  • He should get a best actor nom. instead of best supporting actor. C. Waltz executed this role as what heath ledger did for the Joker. maybe the top 2 performances in film for the last decade... Brilliant!

  • Christoph Waltz is such a lovely and talented man.

  • VERY NICE! and well deserved, Chris is humble and a great actor!

  • sexiest asian girl

  • ha, French presenter forgets to translate while staring at Ziyi Zhang

  • I was wondering how this film would be recieved in Germany. Lol, they apparently love it.

  • I'm german. And you know what? We are sitting in the same boat, you know what i mean? You really should separate the nazis from germans. I know it sounds really weird, but it's true. There is no reason, why we shouldn't like that movie.

  • Well, i am really glad to hear that. Enough with making ppl feel guilty for something they had nothing to do with. And it makes perfect sense that yall (Texan) would cheer as much as we did at the end :]

  • I certainly did. I think it's Tarantinos best Movie since Pulp Fiction, both are Masterpieces, in my opinion.

  • that didnt look like eye rolling to me, that looked like she was just looking at something "up and over" there

  • ah Landa!!!

  • He was absolutely brilliant in Inglorious Basterd, deserves a fucking oscar.

  • she roles her eyes at 3:03

  • What's the name of the Chinese actress? I didn't get that, it was not that good pronounciated. Qi Zhou? She is overwhelmingly pretty.

    那个中国演员叫什么名字?没听懂了地清楚,可能翻译没发音地清楚。他对欧,美国人非常来说非常的漂亮。

  • Her name is Qi Shu - one of the most beautiful woman on earth.

  • You're absolutely right :-) Thanks for your information! Good night.

  • Isn't she Zhang Ziyi? I am not sure

  • No, definitely not. Zhang looks different, kind of a bit more exotic :-)

  • It's Zhang. Google it.

  • It's Zhang. Google FTW.

  • It is Zhang Ziyi. And what do you mean by "more exotic"?

  • My bad, I guess it is not Zhang, but the question stands.

  • @dunjica77

Well, good that you ask. I guess some people got me already wrong, as the -4 indicates. I just mean, that her face got something very special. I can't describe it clearly, I'd say cold beautyness, oozing out pride. Maybe you can understand it, if you've seen Rush Hour 2 or Memoirs of a Geisha. And for all those fools: I don't mean any racial by saying that!

Btw. I still can't believe it's Zhang Ziyi... the host says something totally different.

  • Comment removed

  • @markdmi he says it backwards, which is "ziyi zhang" In english terms, Ziyi woud be her first name and Zhang last name, but remember, in Chinese the last name is usually said first.

  • Oscar! 100%! Boom!

  • Is it pathetic I'm all teary-eyed? He's just so modest. Can't wait to see him in future films.

  • deserve an oscar

  • check 4:00 that look scares me to death

  • I think he looks scared to death....

  • aww he got so nervous towards the end i think he'll get an oscar and all the other awards. he's such a gentlem and he's knid of cute

  • WALTZ FOR AN OSCAR! I AM NOT KIDDING!

  • if he does not get an oscar I will be surprised beyond my dreams! He deserves it more than any actor in a very long time!! His part is incredible and not only the script... they casted Waltz perfectly and his performance well.... I say BRAVO! OSCAR ALL THE WAY!!! I'm not kidding either ;).

  • indeed

  • LMAO This is classic! Huppert was supposed to be in the movie that's why she's pissed.

Isabelle Adjani was also supposed to give the Palme d'Or and Huppert refused so Adjani gave another prize. Bitter and jealous biotch lol

  • Only an European can make a great speech like that

  • dunno... Quentin has made some great speeches ;) but I agree about Christoph's speech.. it was moving

  • seen Steven Soderbergh's best director speech though?

  • One of the best characters ever created by Tarantino. Awsome performance from Mr. Waltz.

  • wow they actually let him finish his speech! xD

  • ah. I think he's gorgeous on top of it all.

  • no, the French "Academy Awards" are called the César. Cannes is an international film festival, and it's only annoying because people are often too lazy to talk and/or understand more than one language.

  • ...

  • wow. I am totally surprised.

  • I seriously want to glomp this man, he looks a bit scared! Bless him! I can't wait to see even more of his work, he's truely an awesome actor.

  • I LOOOOVE THIS MAN, fantastico, bravissimo, extraordinaire!! Merci Christoph merci Quentin!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • his speech is so heartfelt and thankful... I am very impressed with Christoph Waltz in general

  • He looks so nervous-like he had a total out-of-body experience. It was very endearing to watch. Can't wait to see his reaction if-no-WHEN, he wins the Oscar.

  • I agree, it was very sweet. His performance in IB is with out question in my top 5 fave performances EVER! I'm pretty positive he's gonna nab that Oscar, but if he doesn't that will be quite a travesty.

  • Best actor all the way---great work--worthy of an Oscar caliber too.......

I am converted fan-and hope to see more of him in American made films in the future---a great villain; and I've always believed that the villainous roles in the films are what makes the film all the more exciting--and memorable.

  • The reaction to "Bastards" reminds me alot of the release of a Kubrick movie, and it's true genius is going to be even more apparently further down the line.

    Congrats to Waltz, fantastic actor!

  • i couldn't agree with you more

  • gorgeous.

  • What a cutie! Magical.

  • WOW!!! I like that so many people like Christoph. After watching the movie, I couldn't get him out of my mind! He was absolutely wunderschön!!

  • Let me say something about Tarantino.

With this movie I will see today he gave a lot of great actors the cance to show there talent. In Germany and Austria there are a lot of great actors but they all stay at the theatres and Christoph Waltz shows that there is a lot of sleeping talent.

  • he's amazing

  • 3:38 gave him his 'Vocation' back?

Would someone please tell me what he said? He is a brilliant man, and a mile marker in theatre <3

  • A vocation is a job/profession. Waltz was basically thanking Quentin for offering him a great role that is sure to revitalize his career.

  • Thank you.

  • more like "destiny"

  • Earlier, when Tarantino feared Hans Landa would be unplayable, he said of finding Waltz, he "gave me my movie back."

  • if some one deserved it, than Christoph Waltz

  • Hello.

I want congratulate the man who have published this video.

  • Christoph was the best thing to happen to Cannes this year. He was brilliant!

  • haha he is a genius, switching in the languages so good. even the translater were not so fast and couldn't translate the german part. he is such a good actor

  • Waltz nailed it in Inglorious Bastards

  • Finally! A film that recognizes my fellow bastards and I!

I never knew my father. My mother screwed the pizza-guy and never did get his name.

    Thank you for recognizing us!

  • Mind your mouth. Just so happens she's one of the greatest actresses of all time herself. Besides, I think she was just kinda annoyed at the love for Quentin Tarantino (which is sickening at times --- pseudo cinephiles act like he's God). Also Huppert and Tarantino do not exactly see eye to eye if you can believe the rumors. It had nothing to do with Waltz (SHE's the one that gave him the award to begin with remember?)

  • yeah sorry I spoke too fast, but was Isabelle Huppert really obligated to have this face? I don't think that =)

  • Pfff. She makes a lot of weird faces. She's not a bitch.

  • did I say she was a bitch? =)

  • No no, I don't mean that. Was just saying it in general, since there's so much hate going 'round for her. ;)

  • Yeah sorry, I misunderstood =)

  • what a modest man

  • that was a very endearing speech. Very well done and sweet.

  • He's going to be huge in America.

  • He totally deserves it, and he needs more rewards for his portrayal in this movie. It shouldn't be forgotten.

  • he's an attractive man, and his command of several languages makes him irresistible to me. christoph waltz made inglorious basterds worth watching for me. so sexy!

  • I couldn't agree with you more (:

    Love him!

I thought I was the only one who thought so XP

  • great speech. he's a genius.

  • A speech spoken fluently in German, French and English, and changing inbetween. Just awesome

  • You forgot Italian :DD

  • I'm from Germany and i know Christoph Waltz from many TV-productions (Comedys, Dramas and Thrillers). His acting is always great!

Now i'm happy that he gets the international attention that he deserves.

  • What a incredible person, he deserves all the praise he gets for his acting

  • That Asian actress is so pretty!

  • I think that's zhang ziyi

    she's a great actress :)

and yes, Christoph is attractive AND talented. That's rare nowadays...

  • shes chinese

  • What a great actor, what a great movie.

  • Isabelle Huppert at 3:03 was funny. Typical French cunt rolling her eyes at American cinema.

  • did you actually see her rolling her eyes? nope. didn't think so. and why would she roll her eyes after waltz praises tarantino? this makes no sense.

  • hey!!! I'm french! rolling eyes is not typically french! there's only Isabelle Huppert to do that - -'

  • That French cunt is perhaps the best actress the world will ever see... and in no way the arrogant French cliché you make her out to be. Read up on someone before you pass judgement, Quick Draw. Jeez... all this hate for her because of one eye movement that may not even have meant anything. For all we know she was just looking up into the crowd or something.

  • Tarantino doesn't steal anything. He uses elements of genre films that he and a lot of other people like him have loved over the years and blends it into something that is truly unique and his. It's called being ecclectic, and if you can't see that, then it's your loss, man.

  • No, Its postmodernism. Like DePalma with Hitchcock or Spielberg w/ Lean. And yes its awesome.

  • does anyone else think that Christophe is really attractive?

  • He has nothing in common with those trite baby-faced guys you can see on Hollywood Screens. He's more an handsome, charismatic and charming man. And those qualities won't fade away as time goes by. So... He's surely one of the most attractive men I know. :)

  • I totally agree with you :D

  • right here bb!

  • Of course!

  • Comment removed

  • If Waltz does not win an Oscar for his role in IB then I will officially and literally know that the Oscars are there for money and do not care for talent.

  • i fell in love with colonel landa instantly... i was overwhelmed by his brilliant refine perfect acting from the very start to the end of the movie inglorious bast. its tarantino who bought me this outstanding n amazing performance of christoph waltz, you're the best christoph waltz : )

  • LOL 3:03

  • what an amazing speech, omg :)
