I just checked out the Aerosmith version...makes you weep...for all the wrong reasons... whereas The Green Gods guitar makes you weep for all the blues reasons...
Yeah i take the Freddie King thing totally on board mate ,I loved another woman ect {am i right in saying in Texas An old Politican was a big fan ,and when Freddie died he declared a Freddie King day }check it out mate think i read that somewhere .Also you should check my mates band out on here .Alan Nimmo {King King} or the Nimmo Bros .think you,ll enjoy .aLL THE BEST MATE.
Mr. Kirwan, I must say that you and Peter Green were the two guitarists who have inspired my guitar playing all of my life. I first heard you in the 60's on the Albatross and English Rose albums. I was just learning to play lead blues guitar at the time and loved what you guys did. To this day y'all are both my favorite guitarists.
well im getting it a bit,key of C, using both major and minor pentatonics, but my gosh its hard to replicate greeny's sound, and also hes vibrato shaky fingers makes all the bends super hard to sound right, some advice please?how is this done he's slipping in all these notes from the major scale and kinda alnernating, theres the bends at the end wheres hes bending a D note up to E and then flicking between bending a D# note up to an F, kinda like in hideaway with clapton, how?and why?more how
Oh yes of course, i didnt want to sound like i was saying you were incorrect. It is just this album in peters words was an effort to get a Freddie King vibe flowing through it etc.
Peter's playing especially with major ballads as you say is very like to BB king, he was the best at taking this influence and expressing himself through it without being just a cheap imitator.
Great stuff man you can,t teach this shit Mr. Green you are now and always will be my hero you smoke on guitar your vocals are hearfelt and your phrasing timing and feel and command of every note gives me chills. Hopefully alot more people will have goosebumps like I get everytime I hear the screaming million dollar Les Paul that Mr. Green made love to for so many years just wish I could turn back time and been lucky enough to see the real Mac live thanks for posting
hello folks. should i wish to purchase the best and most essential compendium or album of fleetwood mac with Peter Green in it what would your recomendations be? I would preffereably like this song and other classics present on it. joel x :)
@joelywoel "Jumping at Shadows" has the best selections IF you like the early stuff as I do. 35 or so tracks. Got mine on Ebay for less than $20.00 delivered.
@joelywoel Vaudeville Years. thats the best thing yet, it has a great mix of never before heard tracks from the bluesy years to the more jammy rock and roll years
Danny I was there. You and Peter were the best. I played with you guys and BB KIng in Phily. After that I followed you everywhere you appeared In NYC. This to me was the real Fleetwood Mac. I met you guys through your roadie Jimmy a "Scot". I had a blues band ,"Great Jones' . Worked later with Leslie West and help put on "Woodstock". Always sad you guys didn't take over that era.
Ah this is so great.. just pure old blues... there is nothing better. Amazing guitar play. I just love the sound of an old tube amp cranked up playing the blues...
Indeed, one of many under rated players. Danny Kirwan, Kim Simmonds. Clem Clemson long before he got lengthy. Just that Green and Bloomfield at their best hit something for me that no one else does.
I've no time for youtube guitar wars though! Glad they've all been around and done it.
Just unbeatably the best. Taste, touch and tone. Only him and Mike Bloomfield really had that intuitive feeling for the blues. Strangely both Jewish, both troubled, both Les Paul players.
Many other good players for sure, but technicians or pyrotechnicians by comparison.
Say, where did you find the images? They're terrific.
dannykirwan es una grata sorpresa saber que en este país aún quedan personas con buen gusto musical. Adoro a Peter Green, es mi guitarrista favorito entre todos. Él sabía sacar blues auténtico a su Les Paul.
"Now, if you don't stop messin' round
You'll be somebody's baby 'stead of mine, yeah" haha awesome lyrics!

Danny, come out of hiding and play something for us. Or if you're not the real Danny, tell him to come out and play (his guitar, that is).

Not sure which version this is - the one I loved the best was B side to a single (can't remeber what the "A" side was, age has it's problems !!!)

Epic song. My friend Josh is going to have it playing at his wedding and funeral.

@mrsub360 your friend josh sounds like a cool kid, wedding and funeral, thats a bit of a clash of emotion?
SuicideHotline123 4 months ago
@SuicideHotline123 Yeah, he's a cool kid. Shame I'm his only friend. He loves pokemon also.
There won't be a clash of emotions because the 5 people that will go to his funeral will be happy, so they'll rave to this!

@mrsub360 i think you want a couple zeros after that 5...

Every single note that came through the pick-up of Greeny's guitar came from the soul. His playing was majestic.
