  • that should be in my garden :-)

  • I think these tanks are on a French military reservation and have been used as targets. That is why they are still there. There are other video's showing other tanks and armored vehicles on French military ranges. It is also why there are numerous penetrations by different caliber weapons. Given a hit in the right spot to set of the ammo the standard German 75mm anti tank gun could take out either of these with one shot.

  • Honestly...I don't think this is a sherman....no coaxial machine gun...turret shape is wrong...and what looks like bolted on armor...it looks like a Czek tank to me.

  • With the high price of scrap right now all I could see while watching this vid were dollar signs.

  • Interesting the penetrating rounds seem to have been fired at the driver. That's one of those "tricks" if you will we don't think about when considering WWII. Need to kill a tank with an underpowered weapon, take out the driver..

  • The many brave men who died may not be of French blood, but She is of theirs.

  • nice'ssss

  • Why a Tiger tank guys?

It only takes a Panzer III to take out a Sherman.

Plus if it were a Tiger tank and the ammunition was hit, the bloody turret would have been blown off, there would be much more serious damage from an 88mm cannon!

  • I was a tanker for many years - "expert" opinion they were recovered from a battle to a 'boneyard' and stripped. That is why they are parked the way they are. The engine and cannon are out of the M-10 and most of the easily removed equipment was out of the Sherman. Note also that the Sherman was an early version with the rotary aircraft engine that ran on gasoline(note the sign welded near the gas tank) Later versions were diesel inline engines. Funny, if they were german panzers, they'd be gone

  • @SWOLFOOI I would also note that if they burned, the armor would be compromised, so the hatches, guns and other parts would not have been salvaged. I suggest that some of the crew in both survived. The Russians were shipped 4000 Shermans and their operators seem to have preferred them to the T-34. The match to the Sherman's shot traps was poor armor quality control in T-34 and Panther.

  • There are atleast 3 vehicles there

  • Sherman was towing the M10 when they got hit? Would explain the Shermans gun pointed up. Plus the M10s killing shots (in the front) would have been blocked by the Sherman. Maybe...

  • thats a M10 wolverine

  • they werent destroyed in the heat of battle they finished the war intact and were then outdated and put on a firing range and used as targets.

  • @balongaboy why would they be pulled off a firing range just to be dumped in a forest?

  • @LukewMorgan no idea. mybe trees grew on the firing range. i just remember that little bit when i read something about these tanks and a steward nearby

  • @balongaboy i mean stewart

  • If there were a two shermans in the woods near me I wouldn't think twice bout pulling it outta there

  • HOLY BALLS!

  • did u fine that

  • Salut.

  • Im shocked that the Bovingtton tank restore society hasn't scooped these puppies yet.

  • 0:57 is looks like theres another tank in the back ground

  • Looks like they were used for gunnery practice. The Sherman looks like an M4A1 with the T23 turret and 76mm gun. Good luck finding the gun, mantlet and turret counterweights for that Wolverine.

  • must be post war French .... the Sherman is an Easy 8 or 76mm armed and thicker hull more a later vehicle than D-day and invasion of France type.... M-10 looks like latest type probably given to France....probably used to some target practise as they were replaced.... alot of rebuilds come from target tanks of the 50's shot up by later tanks or anti tank weapons...

  • must be .50 armor pierced, look the sherman!

  • Damn...look at the holes in that thing. She got hammered on!

  • wonder y no1 ever come back for them to scrap them or just get them out of there

  • @sully676 why its history. they a work of art in my eyes.. how could you scrap something like thats? it kinda like a good friend to me. see'n them there made me shiver , an kinda glade poor boys went in2 batle with them known it was a death traps.. i wish i could bring them homes.. were they belong..

  • Good luck restoring them

  • YES it is a M10 Tank Destroyer.. but in pretty bad shape !

  • holy damn, its a wolverwein

  • Holy sweet Jesus. I suppose those who were in there had no chance at all. Obviuous they would have been taken away with the other wounded and dead. May the R.I.P!

  • ammo cooked off in the tank destroyer from the looks of it

  • looks like it got hit with 20mm and some 12.7mm and maybe some 37mm

  • those two maby was in group and get attacked by a german bazooka trop

    and a tiger tank

  • Putain! Ils sont toujours la? Ils appartiennent a quelqu'un?

  • cant belive they are still thier , they must be worth a lot of money

  • Comment removed

  • @bigheatover they are still there because in France people don't think about mone constantly. and these are sitting on a military terrain that is forbidden to civilians.

  • @bigheatover Yours if you have the money to remove them and refurb.

  • Very, very solemn and sobering

  • Spare what? It's obvious that the Sherman was almost competely engulfed in flames. You gotta wonder if they were later put in this position or is this where they both died in the heat of battle. The M10 is actually behind the sherman, with the turret of the sherman pointing to the rear. the front of the M10 is riddled with bullet holes. If only they could talk to us....

  • @cbff33 ONLY ARD TARGET ON TRAINING AND

    FOR THE MOMENT FORGOTTEN

OR TOO OLD FOR REALISTICAL TANK TTRAINING

  • @cbff33 the germans did not call these tanks tommy cookers for nothing the yanks called them ronsons because they lit first time

  • @cbff33 theses where probably used by french army for target practice. i've seen abandonned military training fields with old german and US tanks full of holes after doing some research turned out they where targets for army practice from many years ago

  • @cbff33 amazing video! i doubt those are bullet holes. i don't know of any machine gun that could penetrate that armor. I would be willing to guess that if the tank was on fire there may have been ordinance inside the tank that exploded. HE ammunition might not be it; however, AP ammo may have some fragments in it that are usually designed to spray once they penetrate armor. -possible? Unless some kids were out there with a gun shooting at that rusted metal.

  • @slavery4m there were armorpiercing bullets, and larger calibre automatic cannons

  • @slavery4m youtube.com/watch?v=IAyGIs-muYE&feature=related Look around 4 min in and there are some, i dont know if they are antiair HE or AP but it looks like they could have made the holes in the tank. they guy finds live panzerfausts in the end he will get himself blow up soon, good vid.

  • @drglibrl Most explosives used at that time were water soluble. It rains a lot in northwest Europe. Panzerfausts were in high demand, not likely to be left their by either US or German soldiers.

  • @cbff33

Well, if you look closely, they are both burnt, and they are both stripped... I think they were stripped after the battle, and then the hull was disposed of... M10s and Shermans were pretty disposable....

Paul

  • any one now the tank sn numbers think this is reg no 1054866

  • suprising no tankers have come along and took it away for spares

  • its not sherman its m10 tank destroyer

  • The sherman is face to face with the M10.
