Das ist voll komisch zu sehen, wie mansche Deutsch lernen. Ich bin Deutsche und ich kann mir nicht vorstellen Deutsch zu lernen, weil ich das schon immer konnte.
That is crazy to see, that some peoples learn German. I am from Germany and i can´t imagine that i have to learn German, because I could always german
Der, die, and das aren't related to who is saying it, but the object itself.
For instance, apple in German is a masculine word. To say the apple, it's always, "Der Apfel." Unless it of course is plural, because plural words are always die ______. For instance the apples would be, "Die Äpfel." Hope this helped. If not, let me know if I can help.
It's a hard concept to learn. It really depends on the word. Singular can be any of the three, but plural words are always die. Specifically der, die, and das mean "the." They change by the object. (Ex.: Der Apfel [the apple], die Milch [the milk], das Kleid [the dress]. You just have to memorize them. Hope I helped.
I don't know why everyone is complaining? It's really not that hard so far... just keep going over it and memorizing it.... This language seems to be very fun to speak actually and so far it makes sense...
I feel so bad for myself. I have been studying german for a month and I still could not speak simple phrases. does anyone knows where i can download easy German audio books?
Hello bro , you can find perfect videos in this channel on youtube. I am not not GERMAN but i have been learning german for more than a year and i can say they are perfect.
when it lists the vocabulary, what does the ", -s," mean? it doesn't always mean add an s to make it plural, and sometimes they add an ", -(e)s," what does that mean?
@mgzagza91 es como español un poco más difícil. En español tampoco hay reglas para saber qué es femenino y qué es masculino. El "sol" es masculino al azar :)
@samuel1abarza Pues si hay unas palabras para recordar pero la mayor parte de las palabras femininas tienen la letra a y la mayor de las palabras masculinas tienen la letra o- por eso pienso que es mas facil aprender espanol.
@mgzagza91 die, der, das in accordance to your question are the article "the" for Feminine, Masculine, or Neuter singular nouns (die is used as 'the' for all plural nouns). respectfuly.
@mrAZcardinal I was corrected that lamp is feminine, which is correct. So the lamp would be "die Lampe". And it's all memorization, there's no real formula to follow.
@Taffyfolkartist the CH has 2 different pronunciations: a soft one (in the word "ich" for example) that sounds somewhat like the "h" in huge when you say it really slowly, like "hhhhhhhhuge". and a more strong one that sounds like....uhm...watch "achmed the dead terrorist" and check out how he pronounces his name, then you know how the strong CH is pronounced ;-) (btw: the are some regions in germany where the CH is actually pronounced like a SH, but please don't use it. it sounds horrible! ;-)
@Hope000666 i'm german and i say.. die nutella & das nutella. both sounds a bit strange because i don't often use that with an article... and if i do, i say 'die nutella' if i mean the jar of nutella and i say 'das nutella' if i mean the.. nutella itself xD

Hi, these are great! Although I cannot for the life of me pronounce 'geschichte' properly :) But thanks so much for posting, I really love this language
@Wziea I assume it's because many people who don't speak German can't see any difference between "sch" and the "ch" in "ich". They may even hear the difference but they may not be able to pronounce it correctly.
"psychisch" is also another word like that because it's the "ich" sound followed by the "sch" sound. This needs a lot of practice. "ich" is probably the sound almost all non-native speakers have trouble with because it's so rare.

Thank you for posting these simple, digestible lessons. I will be spending six months in Germany for an internship. I speak several languages other than English, but German is going to be the most difficult yet. Maybe because I'm not 12 anymore..
Hi. Thanks for the wishes. I learned languages in this order:
Tamil (Dravidian - India)
English
French
Italian
Hindi (Indo-European)
And now, of course, German. So, learning Spanish would be very easy for me now, since I know 2 other Romance languages. German is proving very difficult for me, simply because it's not coming to me as rapidly as languages usually do. Overall, I'd say Spanish is the easier language for someone who knows English.
I am amazed of how many languages you know, however i think that french would be easier to learn than spanish . the spanish , "catalan" and others are thought to be slightly different to romance languages, because many caracteristics do not appear in other romance languages. so, french is more similar to english than spanish (belive me) hahaha. french have a LOT of caracteristics in common with english.
Spanish has also major similarities with English. I am a native Spanish speaker and some sentences can be litterally transalated as some grammar rules are identical. :)
@TKMSeznam12 They are different indeed, but not as much as people here are suggesting in my humble opinion. May be I'm wrong but I find both languages sharing important similarities.
@gesz90 I believe Spanish and German are way different. Spanish is harder than Deutsch, which is a mathematical language, full of constant rules. Portuguese is even harder than Spanish, the verbs hardly have rules, and the gramatic is full of exceptions and special cases.
It is also much easier for Portuguese People to speak foreign languages without any accent.
@t0aM Wrong. Spanish is a MUCH easier language to learn than German. Spanish is somewhere around a 4 to learn (in terms of a difficulty), whereas German would be near a 6. Pronunciation alone is enough to make German more difficult than Spanish.
@t0aM hey friend all depends of what is your first language... for me that my language is spanish is easy learn, and german is not so hard... teh same thing hapend whit portuduese an italian... i think that all depend of your first language...
@vldget Well.... I Do Speak Spanish / English.... Now Going For German..... Spanish Is Actually Way Dificult Than German And English, Due To Many Words And Meanings, But ofc..If U Do Speak English/French..Shouldnt Be So Hard
when you say the book is beautiful, does it mean the book itself (such as the design of the cover) is beautiful, or the story written in the book is beautiful? If it's the latter, why don't we just say the story?
i'm quite new to german, thanks for posting these videos. :)
I don't think it's as hard as everyone is saying. You just have to memorize it. I know there are Germans who have learned English very quickly, and it is considered the hardest language to learn.
@notanybetteroff - That's arguably so. As much as I'd be proud to think english is the hardest language, being a singularly english speaker, it's actually nowhere close to being as complicated as Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Japanese or Arabic, for example.
thanks you or Dank sie for your videos i am American but many of my relatives has came from Germany and i wish to leard Germany's language...in a easy way of course
Very easy to follow!!!! This will help me learn German so much easier! Also, unlike the other videos, this particular one isn't all scattered. Learning German will be a pleasant experience for me with a video like this one. Well Created!!!
It is quiet "easy" when you use "die" before the plural noun, whereas the single noun, they can use der, die, das......Besisdes the genitive words like Male, Female and neutural, I really get confused for When these people use such der/die/das ie) Buch use das,( that's fine), why can't it be "das Roman" 'cos this object doesn't contain any genitive form.
@melbourneopera as I have learned (atleast I think I have learned something) das is like the -in english like " the car " and in german " das auto ", and Die is used with plurals.. now to lesson numbeeeer 4 :)

sebas11tian 1 year ago
@sebas11tian

@vldget
I am amazed of how many languages you know, however i think that french would be easier to learn than spanish . the spanish , "catalan" and others are thought to be slightly different to romance languages, because many caracteristics do not appear in other romance languages. so, french is more similar to english than spanish (belive me) hahaha. french have a LOT of caracteristics in common with english.
bye, thanks for your opinion.

@sebas11tian
Spanish has also major similarities with English. I am a native Spanish speaker and some sentences can be litterally transalated as some grammar rules are identical. :)
gesz90 1 year ago
@gesz90 Gramatically Spanish is very different than English. I'm not sure what you're talking about. :(
TKMSeznam12 1 year ago
@TKMSeznam12 They are different indeed, but not as much as people here are suggesting in my humble opinion. May be I'm wrong but I find both languages sharing important similarities.
gesz90 1 year ago
@gesz90 I believe Spanish and German are way different. Spanish is harder than Deutsch, which is a mathematical language, full of constant rules. Portuguese is even harder than Spanish, the verbs hardly have rules, and the gramatic is full of exceptions and special cases.
It is also much easier for Portuguese People to speak foreign languages without any accent.
t0aM 1 year ago
@t0aM Wrong. Spanish is a MUCH easier language to learn than German. Spanish is somewhere around a 4 to learn (in terms of a difficulty), whereas German would be near a 6. Pronunciation alone is enough to make German more difficult than Spanish.

@t0aM hey friend all depends of what is your first language... for me that my language is spanish is easy learn, and german is not so hard... teh same thing hapend whit portuduese an italian... i think that all depend of your first language...

when you say the book is beautiful, does it mean the book itself (such as the design of the cover) is beautiful, or the story written in the book is beautiful? If it's the latter, why don't we just say the story?
i'm quite new to german, thanks for posting these videos. :)

I don't think it's as hard as everyone is saying. You just have to memorize it. I know there are Germans who have learned English very quickly, and it is considered the hardest language to learn.
notanybetteroff 1 year ago
@notanybetteroff - That's arguably so. As much as I'd be proud to think english is the hardest language, being a singularly english speaker, it's actually nowhere close to being as complicated as Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Japanese or Arabic, for example.
