@Aggie254 - Basically, gold bugs are making a bet on what the Fed will do. Will Bernanke print his way out (inflation) or will he have the balls to let companies, states, and cities go bankrupt. Gold is simply a way to protect your wealth. If he prints money, then all assets go up in price. If he doesn't then all assets go down (deflation). Gold bugs aren't thinking about nominal gains. We care about preserving purchasing power (real gains).

It makes a new high and retraces to test prior dip...then a speculator who believes the trend will continue will place a buy betting that the market won't break the support at prior dip.  It will look like a zig zag increasing slope pattern. Get it?

@awallin1 bullshit. rate of change graphs show what the real trend is. It can be narrowed down to clean patterns of lines and curves for months on end. THEN when you see a giant dip coming in the S&P, Dow or NADSAQ Bernanke prints.

You'd see a crash of -50% or worse without it but he's DETERMINED to print money.

"Support" and "Resistance" is voodoo know-nothing talk for people that can't do math.

@ytgv3fc7 dip buying is definitly a valid market phenomenon. even algo traders are programmed to buy dips in a strong intraday trend untill the trend ends. there is no denying that it exists. however, I do agree that there are a lot of people who are analyzing technical analysis and drawing conclusions that don't exist. unfortunately our brains make patterns out of random movements.

@awallin1 There's no such thing as a "strong intra-day trend". Intra-day volatility is a fool's game. The only way to gain on such small spreads is using MASSIVE betting capital and when it goes the other way - which is frequent - losses become the size of national deficits.

It's a mug's game. The real gains come from multi-week swing-trading with average-sized buy-ins or short-sells to ensure the total on the table is diversified mathematically,

It is from that I theorized my 7c/shr loss will be covered yet I bet no more

@awallin1 last I checked the close was .57 so I'm break-even, recently it's been as high as .68 so I could have stopped out with a gain, BUT, I choose on such a low total risk profile of 485$ to ride it longer so the lowest price is above .60 and start setting my stops there and keep riding it up. I have a price target of at least 0.7 and if Arian Silver doesn't hit disaster, 1.40 and higher and soon.

Brains are good for some patterns, math for others. That's why I rely heavily on math
