  • I hate her, deeply. She plays it beautifully, and me, with 8 years of piano lessons at a special music school, can't play with that awesome thecnique. Congratulations, little lady (:

  • @lumpypinecone

Hey!!!! I'm Asian too!!! She WASN'T forced to learn... Some Asians do. (but NOT Koreans) they do it for hobbies. So don't talk about Asians like that!!!!

  • Asian parents just work them into the ground. White composers actually had talent and given birth gift - they weren't forced to learn.

  • im Korean and r u? and im playing that right now

  • the beggining was waaay too fast

  • JOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODER!! Como toca la condená!! y yo con 14 años no lo toco ni la mitad de bien que ella... x(

  • @kabivose SORRY I MENT PIECES gosh. and i ment my songs by the pieces im playing right now SORRYYYYYYY.

  • @sprluver1234 I'm sorry too! I was having a bad day and feeling grumpy but that's no excuse. I do find it irritating when every piece of music is called a song whether it is or not but a better target for my irritation would probably be iTunes - I suspect they started it!

Lots of non-asians can play better then you (and me) but we can play better than lots of them too. It took me a long time to realise that I didn't have to the best at anything to enjoy it; I hope you get there faster than me!

  • I hate this peace... it's sooo uuugly -.-

  • it's videos like these that make me feel like crap. all these asians playing my songs better than me! fucking FOURTEEN and she can play it better than me im such a failure. ive been playing four years...:( im white too... sigh.

  • @sprluver1234 That's not one of your songs!

It's not yours; it was written by Bach around 1723, long before you were born, and it's not a song (or at least, I've never seen any words for it.)

  • exceptionally good for her age :)

lol the last note, BAAAM! *lifts hands gently* xD

  • extrememly good for her age, but she plays quite heavily and lacks the feeling necessary for this piece. I believe that children at this age are too young to truly understand the emotions, feelings, and dynamics of music properly. you could teach anyone to hit the right notes, but there's a difference between hitting the right notes and the notes right. very good though, if she keeps it up maybe she'll be concert pianist material some day.

  • @crazytacoburger "children at this age are too young to truly understand the emotions, feelings, and dynamics of music properly." Perhaps this is true...

However, it's an invention - a composition based on process, technique and rules, not whimsical or capricious emotions. That's why young kids learn these first, then, when they understand, they'll have the necessary skills to play the great pieces WITH emotion, feeling and great musicality -which is what I assume you meant by dynamics.

  • @ColtonBrook true, and I did say she's quite good for her age. It was just a thought that hit me when I was watching this.

  • @crazytacoburger (>^.^)>

  • is she like 7? shes pretty good for her age :)

  • the song is not hard to play its hard to learn. Very good job I think

  • @duelover actually it's not hard to learn at all.

  • Why did she decied to jump ahead and not play the opening? Great preformance anyway.

  • @HerrWarja Actually she did play it from the beginning, but for some reason the video skipped.

  • plus shes adorible!!

  • i started late in like 5th grade and i am playing this piece now its not very VERY hard but i'm impressed that she plays it sooo well :) and i believe that asian people are extremely talented and focused! plus if you dont really like playing its hard to put emotion into it (i'm not asian soo this is a very unbiased comment)

  • :'( why must i lack any piano talent...

  • Good.

  • I love how she slams the last note.

  • oh, bach.... these songs are amazing !!!!!!!! (Well, congratulations to Serena!)

  • yo opino que la nena toca muy lindo!!! es un angelito! Felicidades!!!

  • que chiquitita:O!!!!!! toca maravillosamente bn

  • Comment removed

  • what, and according to these 'stereotypes' you speak of, caucasian kids can show emotions in their music?

    what the hell?

  • @ chknwitrice so to play an instrument you gotta be all like hitting the keys while head banging or something? i hate people who just look at asian kids and say "urr no emotion durrr" because they know nothing about asia or music... so stfu

  • this piece was rlly good... :D the problem is, i didnt hear any emotion in it :( sad...

  • @chknwitrice2 hey man you gotta first find out about Baroque music before you judge

  • i quite agree with you on that

  • uhm... i think you guys are trying to oppose on the technique part, rather than the emotion part. every piece should be played with emotion, but it seems that the girl is only playing the notes and the dynamics as shown-- as in, she is only playing the way it's written than actually feeling the piece herself. technique wise, yes, this piece is very well displayed-- the piece is speaking amongst itself, but emotion-wise, it is not. as before, she is only playing by what the notes say, but is not

  • actually taking the piece and melding it into herself.

  • @chknwitrice2 I think you are trying to oppose on the part where she's just a friken kid. Cool it man...She'll eventually grow as a musician and learn to feel the music.

  • My comment below is a response to Bergunthera's comment by the way.

  • Bravo!

  • Actually I like her very much because of the mistakes she made. That shows me, that she probably isn't one of these girls who are forced to practice the whole day, and don't have a life. Maybe she is just talented, don't you think ?

  • @7Midsummer7 bravooooooooooooo

  • @7Midsummer7 I think the same..

  • u must have never been to china to hold thoes views..while they do not have the liberties we may have in the west, 21st century china not that repressed..it is far from maoist rule...

besides, being chinese has shit all to do with the video..

    she amazing..

  • My last comment was directed at the people spreading their negative thoughts. I think she played bach very even and very well, and that is was a tremendous display of discipline from a child. :D

  • WENIIIIISIMO

me encantari ahber tocado asi a su edad

ME ENCANTARIA TOCAR ASI A MI EDAD xD

  • wow!! this is amazing.. .. i wonder how much she practices!

  • more hours than she has had dinners

  • i think i was 10 when i first played this piece....

my playing was much worse though...

  • Crazy asians, always kicking musical ass. Very good.

  • thats just an excuse to justify your laziness.

  • whatever eases your conscience

  • Not all children will be forced to practice long hours, some children's parents will give them no choice but to practice, but that doesn't mean its chinese people who do that only i don't think chinese society is f***** up at all. They are intelligent people, and the things they do, they work hard at, like this little girl and well, you can see the results. I just think what you said was a bit harsh.

  • If you don't think that Chinese society is fucked up..then basically you must live in China, because the government don't allow you to see the terrible things that go on. Government-controlled media anyone? Do you honestly think this poor 7 year old girl is there by choice?

  • Im english... lol

  • My piano teacher grew up oppressed by communism enforced by Russians on Czechoslovakia, she said the only thing she had was piano and music, it was her liberator. She said there would be times as a child when she would leave her teacher feeling as though she were walking on air, as if she flew. Music sustained her soul. I bet this girl loves to play the piano. Better to be liberated by self endeavors that than to allow yourself to be a victim of social oppression. That goes for all societies.

  • very true ^^

  • I'm Korean and I play piano. I have never been forced to practice long hours. I could play just like the little girl there, and now, if you see my video, you will see how I have grown as a musician without being forced to practice. Although I think kids need some sort of parent-pressure, you shouldn't assume all the talented kids are forced to be so. AND, I have many "white" friends whose parents are "crazier" than "Asian" parents.

  • @marjucarrot yeah :)

  • i thik shes amazing at this piece, im just learning it now, n she is really really good

  • people lighten up, she's 7!

  • awesome girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    bad video

  • That seemed a shortened version of the piece...

  • Heheh, her trills were cute.

  • i think so too!

  • amazing, and she can't even reach the pedals!

however i do agree with 'wsckky'

  • She's a fine pianist at 7. However, she shortened the trills (some sloppy), lacks dynamics, and killed the ending with a "bang". It's really not her fault that her piano teacher gave her a piece beyong her ability at at this time.

  • i don't think you should say any musically piece is beyond any child's ability. This Girl did a wonderful job for her age and to say that it's past her ability is to defy the unique beauty of music. Mozart composed at 4, would you say that was "past his ability"?

  • speechless.

  • she was sooo amazing for a little girl of 7 years old!

  • Comment removed

  • It always makes me mad to watch child musicians. That girl probably can't even tie her shoes.

  • im trying to learn this on clarinet

    :]

    this songs amazing

  • hm.... u r young gun

  • Um, though it is impressive that a seven year old is playing this piece, it's not very impressive when you listen to the piece impartially.

  • add more dynamics. but pretty well for a seven year old

(not including the banging) but keep up the good work! : D

  • the chinese and asians always play the best at piano

  • I'm going on 20 and couldn't play that half as well as she did... >_>;

  • I know her!

She's great! I think shes kinda pushed thow!

    but still shes great!

  • hahaha all asians seem to be the best at piano!!!! lol but nice job there!! excellent :D

  • the trills were ... BLAH

  • You, sir, are correct.

  • ya... it's funny though... how a 7 year old can completely noodle her way through a piece like that, and make tonnes of mistakes... but it's ok because she's.... well... 7..... so it's adorable.

  • ya. in china they pick what u do. like this girl that moved fom china and has the same piano teacher as me, her mom makes her practice 2 houres a DAY!!! ofcoarse shes only 8 and better than me. but thats what they do. i not saying its a bad thing though, its just not the best thing to do. the child should be able to do what THEY want.

  • so true, i practice (viola) 4 hours a day, but I'm also 19 and love playing for the last 12 years... i think when i was that girls age i'd practice an hour a day cause i felt like it.. if my parents forced me i woulda chucked the thing... thought i don't see her chucking a piano, haha

  • She is very talented, but she wouldn't be if she didn't live in China. Well maybee, but the day she was borned the people around her decided that she's gonna play piano, and they have trained and trained her all the time. Maybee she likes to play the piano, but if she don't it doesn't matter. She was borned to do it. Because of that I can't enjoy listening to this, even if she is very talented (and very cute :)). That's just my opinion.

  • ...gay

  • How did you manage to teach this piece to such a young child? I know I wouldn't have been able to sit still for more than 5 minutes at her age, or even comprehend the music if I tried...she's very talented!

  • It's sort of like learning a language when you're younger. It's easier for them to remember.

  • wow she's really good!

  • Congratulations! Excellent!

  • woow. I'm playing that song too, but she is waay better than me! and I'm 13 lol

    5 stars

  • amazing!!

    You're really talented ! 5 stars

  • hehe ich heiß auch serena und spiel auch Klavier=) suuuuuuuuuuper

  • omg she is so cute... x3 5 stars for the little talented girl :3

  • Wow this girl is talented. She's going to accomplish a lot in the future.

  • Just like the other 5 million 4 year old asian girl prodigys right? =D.

    Pretty good performance nonetheless

  • wow she is talented

  • Great job! You really have talent

  • moon magic get a life - and you really must know what you're talking about, because these 'songs' are called pieces.

  • pieces or songs i believe u misinterpreted moonmagics comment. I think they weren't being mean to the girl playing just saying what there talents were.

  • What I commented was for Styxfan427

  • great :i am a music wunderkid from Belgium and i go to school on the LEMMENS Institute:: good job

  • Is that so? Your manners instead suggest that you are a hubris idiot savant.

  • Very nice ob. I am glad to see very young people taking up piano, since it is now not as popular as nowadays sports activities. Great job on that piece. Keep your great work up!!!!

  • Nope, nothing wrong. That's impresive!

  • Yeah, way to go man... any troll can slag a virtuoso, it takes a truly exceptional calibre of sub-human to criticize a 6 year old.

  • While not terrible she's certainly not a virtuoso--it's unlikely that the span of her hand alone can even physically permit virtuoso passages. In any event, the mis-use of terms such as 'virtuoso' and 'prodigy' are almost as irritating as vulgar comments.

  • I never called anyone a 'virtuoso'. What is truly 'irritating'are people that can't even read.

  • No fence, but Styxfan427, shut up I think that shes good AND GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Seriously, I saw your videos and I don't even know if that is really you, but saying that it was terrible and all wrong, the one who is terrible and all wrong is you. She played it nicely and impressivly. I know this because I had the music with me right then so think before you speak

  • pequenyo saltamontes..

  • OMG! If I learn to play like this some day I'll be very hapy, really! She is unbelievable good!

  • they cut the video short

  • wow.... im amazed i just learned how to play that song for my exam and i'm only 14!

  • same here. I feel pathetic compared to some people who play the piano, like my friend who \'s in the same grade as I am, and should be done with level 10 by now...

  • i should have been done w/ piano, as in finished all the levels and graduated... but then i kept on switching teachers and stuff... so right now i'm stuck in level seven until i find out if i pass my piano exams to go to level eight

  • WTF???!!!

    T_T

  • OMG .....very good

  • Wel it's ok! I played this one year ago! ..!

For her age this is wonderfull..! I played this when i was 13!

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!

Why Can't a many English people that age play that well??

I will be that good one day!

    I hope

  • whao

    good

    she plays very well

  • YEAH YOU ROCK KID!♥

  • me parecio fantástico felicitaciones como profesor te doy un 10 (diez) seguí así...

  • masallah yaaa , super kizzz!!!:))

  • ben bunun yarısı kadar çalsam okulu bitireceğim be. helal olsun sıpaya :):)

  • very nice!!

  • Just out of curiousty why are ALL of the comments markes with a minus?

  • omg! shes absolutly amazing!

  • ehm.. MAy I play classical?!!? you learn much more ond this way.. and shut up.. i listen to much classical music.. and my piano teacher do that.. and that what she's listening to sounds.. really cool.. totally freakyy!! PEACE n love

  • hey idiot, all music, even hip-hop is based on classical music....this may burn your hands, but try reading about modern music history and something might stick on you other than the boogers in your fingernails.

  • Peace and love after a vile derogatory comment? Classical is heavily steeped in theory and aesthetics - pop music is based on making money and appealing to a wide audience. Hence the name "popular" music

  • oh my word.

    this little girl is amazing.

  • WOW

  • excellent

  • waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw

  • Nice kid!

  • she is great. !

    i can't say more :)

  • if this is your daughter..you are a lucky person

    she is really talented!

  • Wow...

  • im feeling like a noob... she plays a lot!!! OO''

  • By the way, the following comments were made in reply to "dupapa33" who seems to be in the habit of trolling video-posts (such as this one,) and harrassing people. Please excuse the interruption.

  • classical musicians arent well equipped musicians because their ear is very underdeveloped and they cannot play by ear simple melodies because they always use their eyes for note reading. and that is pervert. music should include dancing. i love classical music but i hate so called classical musicians who only play one style of music and european classical music is not the only music in the world.

  • Aren't you generalizing a bit? And why use words like "hate?" After all, most musicians tend to "specialize" a bit. There're on the other hand, others who play a multitude of style's (Keith Jarrett for example,) as well.

After seeing the cutest little child play Bach, are these really the only comments you can post?

  • oklllllslslslsls

  • you do not know how she is taught. And whether this girl understands melodies or not or whether five years from this video she would be writing music and great sheets of great orcestrial music. Just because you are a fan of jazz and other self taught and trail and error ways of teaching (kinda thing) doesn't mean that when she has the foundations of classical music that she could go on to play all kinds of music. love and peace xxxx

  • the classical european school of music is dumbing down the nation. I am a defender of the african american school of music that includes the art of jazz, funk, hip hop, disco latin american music like salsa, samba, calypso, reggae, joropo, tango, mariachi and flamenco.

  • All forms of music are valid & it is silly to just mock one style! If classical music is "dumbing down the nation" (as you claim,) it is "news" to the rest of the world! In fact, studies have shown consistently, that the opposite happens!

It isn't classical music that is "dumbing down" our nation but, our frivolous life-styles & priorities...

  • so called classical musicians are no musicians to me because they havent been taught the art of improvising.

  • I think musicians can also interpret music that a composer wrote. Music is written with enough room for personal choices that a musician gets to in regards to tone, dynamics, and articulation. You can still be a musician without improvising.

  • she doesnt even understand the harmonies. bach used to improvise a lot in his days like beethoven or mozart, like jazz musicians today like art tatum or keith jarrett. but she is just licking his balls.

  • She is just a child & you're acting like an ass! It is abundantly clear that you have "problems" & "issues" & you really should be seeking counseling & treatment, instead of harassing little children!

    Off with you!

  • Shame on you, dupapa 33. You are a child yourself, and offer nothing but obscenity, in a childish fashion. Keep it on the punk playground.

This is a young musician, who has a feel for the music. Congratulations to her teacher.

  • pendeja de mierda, yo me ropo el culo para tocarla a mis 15 años y ella asi como si nada

  • :) quiere decir ke no eres buena/bueno.

    :) idiota =D

    ...

  • hahaha! ya sure like py parents told me to took lesons ! BHA! I decided miself and it was my choice and it's been 10 years now that i play.

  • shut up all you. this is pervert. she doesnt even understand what she is playing. i hate so called classical musicians who do nothing but practising alone in their tiny chamber instead of living life and going out into the fresh air and playing with other children. this little girl was just forced by her parents to be drilled like a robot. all classical musicians are slaves of notes.

  • damn right

  • So no true! Only 'cause YOU don't like to play (or even, only 'cause you CANT play) classical music, doesnt mean that everyone else around you doesnt like. So just shut up and admit that she is a good player and that she, probably, likes to play the piano and will be much better than you ever dreamed of being.

  • fuck you

just because you lack the individual determination and skill to sit down and learn a piece front to back and then nack to front just means you are an inadequate muscian, not a free living person, like you seem to imply. as classical muscians we escape moderns day problems( being slaves of corporate agendas) and accomplish something far greater than the avaerage man. you obviously have no expirence as a classical musician and you have no merit to judge family matters or music

  • I understand where you're coming from, dupapa, but being "drilled like a robot" is a good way to get good at many things, from sports to programming. I definitely disagree with the blanket "slaves of notes" judgement, since it can be applied to musicians in most genres (and are engineers slaves of physics?). More to the point, I don't think we have enough insight to judge little Serena's family situation here.

  • go kill yourself fag. wat do u do just go home eat sleep masturbate? piano ... music helps the mind helps the soul in creating a new pespective on life.

  • Music is like languages, just cuz you dont understand some of them doesnt give you the right to pay them out. So shut the fuck up and dont annoy people with your ignorance.

  • I should probably go practise....lol

  • omg she cant even reach the pedals and she is better than me

  • It's only a Grade 4 song.....

But I guess it's really good how she's so young and able to play that piece already.

LoL it's funny how she looks so clueless and all that, then she's on the piano and then BAM! rofl.

    Keep it up.
