@MissBikiniCanada click on "match third party content", then "dispute". Fill out the form. For these crooks, option 1 with no explanation will do. They don't put up any resistance. Their fraud claim disappears immediately.
Fortunately, copyright claims filed by this "society" are easy to get rid of. I've gotten several in the past two years, and the claim permanently disappears within seconds of my filing a dispute.
If your covering someone elses work - be it a piano tutorial, or some little girl singing a cover of a famous song...to upload it...it is breach of copyright law..and the owner of the song, melodie..is to be paid... you dont owner the rights to the work...your showing people how to play...
@dancelanddave "Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use."
@bbdhrggl the Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, is open to debate mate, and only something which would be settled by a judge...if your teaching via youtube...then that begs the question why? id guess your wanting channel views, and regardless of what your getting from that....its not nothing!! its either advertising, promotion for your own work...Youtube had two options, shut down, or collect on behalf of the recording artists - ty youtube content id!
@dancelanddave The only reason I began teaching on youtube is to help many, all over the world, who love to play the piano but have no opportunity for private lessons. Countless happy and grateful feedback motivates me to continue. Each tutorial is made for the person who requested it. If it gets only one view, fine!
I am not proud of my piano playing. Promoting is not my intention, and I expect nothing in return. The joy of music is a spark of life. Learn to give.
@bbdhrggl Then all i can do is wish you luck, ive visited your channel and you seem to be a great teacher, with great intentions, but i still stand by youtube, and support them in their Content ID, and disagree with unhappiness regarding the subject. i am a very hardworking musician, producer and once was a label co owner. Youtube has cost the industry and its people, alot of money and jobs so something had to be done.
@dancelanddave Ah, possible mistunderstanding here. I too, stand by and support YouTube's policy in regards to legitimate Content ID claims. The protest here is against the fraudulent outfit "Music Publishing Rights Collecting Society", probably started by one, or a bunch of kids. Please read the video description.
@bbdhrggl You are complaining about lost ad revenue. Perhaps peoplemight bemore sympathetic if your ONLY motivation was to make people happy. If you don't really care about the money, give it back to the owners.
@EddieHaskelll YouTube must know about this already. Subject appears on Google Searches and help forums. If my channel disappears, that's life. Nothing lasts.

@dancelanddave it is correct I do not own the rights to the work, but teaching is "fair use".

@bbdhrggl Sorry mate, what you deem as fair use, PRS wouldnt, nor the artist, act, etc..
Sadly its just the way it is, the creator owns the recording & composition, and by replicating it, and uploading...your breaking copyright law.
