  • why cant i find part 1 of each episodes?? please help!

  • Why is Charlotte prettier than Jane?

I like this version very much but the cast of these two characters is a bit strange…

  • I prefer 06's version of Charlotte

She was much more prettier and likable and seemingly more mature

This one I think would make a better mary

  • @valencys I beg to differ, I think that she seems rather too pretty and, well, interesting to be Mary.

  • @TheEnglishGirle I guess so, I hadn't read the book then,

I like the 06 version probably because of this, although this girl is probably a better fit.

    sorry other yt account

  • I think it's a bit of a running gag for the younger sisters to always force Mary into playing dance music. And that 'Capital!' guy :P

  • Who is the red haired "ginger" girl they call so ugly? : D who inherited the 10 000 pounds?

  • I love how everytime Mrs. Bennet opens her mouth Mr. Bennet looks at her like, "Shut up woman. You're already annoying me." hehehe

  • 1:08 is there anything printed on the newspaper Papa is reading? It looks completely blank!

  • "and are three of the silliest girls in England" loool Mr Bennet is just too much, he always loves to "abuse" his children xoxo

  • That is a tough question ????? I am pretty sure that Darcy would kill Mary first as it would be the gentleman thing to do . hehehe

  • I do not think Mrs Bennett ( Alison Steadman) is over acting. Her character is written to be the grown up version of Lydia: not very bright, highly emotional and never a care in the world for what the other people think or feel.

  • Is it just me or the woman that plays Mrs Bennet is a little overacting?...

  • "Oh, very ill Edward. Noone knows what I suffer with my nerves. ..... But then I NEVER complain..."

Please Mrs. Bennet. I know you are stupid and everything but I did not expect you to lie in front your whole family!!!!!

  • I almost feel sorry for Kitty, Mary and Lydia; their dad doesn't think well of them, does he?

  • @GillianDrake93 why should he? All except Mary, kitty and Linda are completely stupid and foolish girls. I wouldn't like them as daughters when I have daughters like Jane and Lizzie.

  • @soccerlolful but surely he can find something good in their characters. I agree that they are foolish and stupid etc, especially compared to Lizzie and Jane, but then again, they are young-Lydia is only 15. And they are that way because Mrs Bennett encourages it and Mr Bennett ignores it. BTW I think that Mary is stupid and foolish; she tries to excel in matters of the mind, but never has a thought of her own-"We are told..."Also, she is arrogant, tactless and rude with it. (at the ball)

  • mr darcy ;) as for the mother....oh god her fake crying couldn't be any more annoying

  • I know, weird question, but does anybody know, haw this old song is called, that Mary plays on the piano in this scene?

  • @Marielusi Which one? The Christmas carol "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen"? Handel's "Pastoral Symphony" from "Messiah"? The dance tune "Grimestock"? Or the dance tune she plays towards the end of the clip? If it's the last, I can't help you there. (Not a weird question at all, truly.)

  • @catrinlewis I meant the first one you wrote :) Thank you very much!

  • Where is episode 3 part 1/6?

  • @Jusper89

The missing episodes were blocked by the production company.

  • I've never heard her mentioned before, but the actress who plays Mariah is lovely and such a dear character! And she sings well here. (: I wish we could have known more about her future.

  • I hate Lizzies dresses. Could her breasts be higher? / Wickham's first question is to ask if she knows the family? Had she been a gossip, she would have heard about him. Now, he's not afraid to lie and tells the story he's made up. He's high. The girls are impressed with him because they don't know his background./ I feel so sorry for Charlotte. She knows her marriage is going to be horrible but takes comfort that people will visit her. Imagine him touching her! YUK. She's freaking out.

  • Why is that weirdo always at dances and always going' Capital'! He looks so spacticated! Is he charlotts father by any chance?

  • @MissAliciaDark Sir William Lucas, yes he is her father. He's sillier than Lydia in some ways, but he means well.

  • At 4:46, that's Lucy Davis who played Dianne in Shaun of the Dead!

  • Imagine spending your wedding night with mr.Collins...*shudder*

  • @Ballet4Everz

I would have nightmares just by thinking about it haha.

  • @Ballet4Everz you know you love Mr Collins. Just admit that Mr Collins is the only man in the world you would like to see on your wedding night :)

  • @Ballet4Everz I'm not sure they got anything accomplished...him talking so much

  • @Ballet4Everz oh god...i think the inside of brain just exploded...(derp)

  • ILOVE, LOVE this movie, I recently broke my part 1 disc of my boxed collection. "I thought I should have broke my heart"- Mrs Bennett

  • does anyone know where i could watch parts 1 and three of this episode? it would be really helpful :)

  • @gossip0girl0xoxo can't... it's copyrighted..

  • i luv the mom, she is sooooooooooo funny, and a great mom in an improper way :)

  • Mrs. Bennet's crying is sooo irritating. It gives me a sudden urge to smash something :(

  • What? I'm so confused with the casting. I thought the red haired girl was pretty but Jane on the other hand....nvm some ppl'll prob get mad at me if I say it

  • @yellowtrees Yeah I agree. The casting's iffy.

  • I think the Wickham in the movie was more attractive, but this script is much better.

  • Words cannot describe how much I love Mary.

  • it's so funny how mr. bennet speaks so ill of his younger daughters in public!

  • what song are they singing at 4:40?

  • @nekomaria God Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen. It's a Christmas carol.

  • why am i reading all the comments in victorian english haha..

  • @annahpanna I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who's been doing that..loL

  • Mr Wickham is very handsome here. Better than he is in the newest version. However, he cannot beat THAT Mr Wickham from Lost in Austen.

  • hehe Mrs. Bennet is hilarious, especially her facial expression!

  • charlottes little sister is cute! and so is mary king :) most of this cast is good looking, just a few exceptions

  • Mr collins should have married mary that is a match made in heaven of boredom.

  • @froasties lol

  • @froasties Somehow, I do not think so.

  • @froasties I wonder what would happen if you put Mary and Mr. Darcy in a room together... Who would bore who to death first?? lol:)

  • I feel sorry for the future Mrs Collins! The thought of their wedding night at the lodge makes me squirm! He is so unctious!

  • Who besides me thought Mary would make a good match with Mr Collins? Don't they seem suited for each other?

  • I mean I feel like mr. darcy is barely in the story!

  • Comment removed

  • Poor thing, Mary bares the curse of being the middle child :(

  • wow! loveeeeee this shw!, the 05 version and the book!! im in love with P&P ......

and mr bennet is AWESOME!!! love his sarcasm....hes one of the few sensible ppl......:D

  • Mrs. Gardener is very beautiful. She looks thoughtful + attentive - and when people start BS-ing, she just quietly withdraws from the conversation. She looks a bit worried seeing Lizzie dance w/Wickham. It's weird how everyone flirts with Wickham. He's not that handsome - and he's kind of phony even before you know the facts a/b his past.

And how a/b Mr Bnt? I know he's better liked than Mrs. B, but if he were kinder + less sarcastic + paid more attn, he w'dn't need to complain a/b them anyway.

  • @Rosebloom12 In the book, Mrs. Gardener warns Lizzie from developing a strong attachment to Wickham, whom she viewed as an inappropriate relationship for Lizzie (in fact, a whole chapter is devoted to this conversation.) Mrs. Gardener's character had a much greater role in Jane & Lizzie's life and they went to her for advice instead of their mother.

  • Comment removed

  • The Gardeners are such wonderful people - they can be friendly and polite, and pay attention 2 everyone without getting sucked into the craziness of that house.

Do they all have to learn to sing? that girl at 5:00 sounds like she's about to asphyxiate. Or hyperventilate. Maybe she's wearing a corset - I'd bet those decrease lung capacity to about 30%.

  • Poor Mary. In the books, it says that she does this 'cause she's plain - maybe if she knew that she c'd be beautiful, she'd be able 2 talk about what she reads better, & be less awkward a/b it.

  • Everybody knows red-heads are witches. Just kidding. I think red heads are more unique.

  • Great music.

  • I love how the break in the segments repeats "Oh Lord"

  • I hate how wickham tells his sob story to everyone he meets.

  • What are regimentals?

  • @crytogod itÄs the uniform of a regiment

  • Mr. Bennett is HILARIOUS!!!!

  • I like the voice of Mr. Wickham.

  • there's no red-heads like me in this... :(

  • "But I never complain..."

Oh Mrs. Bennett, you are such a liar. Mr. Bennett is one of the best characters in the entire story. Lydia is the absolute opposite. I hate her character more than anyone else's. The actress who plays her is very good, though, and captures her absolutely terrible character well. I cannot stand listening to her, and every time I watch this movie with my family, I must be silenced repeatedly because I randomly shout out "I HATE LYDIA! AREN'T YOU GLAD I'M NOT LIKE HER?!"

  • Mr. Wickham's mouth is annoying when he talks. :P

  • Mrs. Bennet is either a very good actress, or a very bad one.

  • @OvechkinsFan1 mhm, i'm trying to figure it out myself. she doesn't seem natural at all.

  • poor mary ^^

  • I must say that Elizabeth is prettier than Jane in this version and the mother somehow believes that Jane is more beautiful than any of her daughters how can you even think that but still the movie is great !

  • @XOgabby09 but Jane is truly very elegant

  • @ilikeoootoob true but i wouldn't single out my daughter like that i mean they all have something about each that is different and nice

  • @duelx24 that's totally fair.

  • @XOgabby09 Perhaps that was the style. Men favored fair hair over darker hair, and she has the long neck and sloping shoulders. And a Roman nose, large blue eyes, and she holds herself more elegantly than Elizabeth. Plus, did you notice she looks exactly like all the statues and paintings of Greek and Roman women? Perhaps that was what men looked for.

  • @GaaraFangirl117 omg yes i only noticed now that you've said it about the statues and paintings but if that was what men looked for in those days then she was one lucky girl.i still think that men favor fair hair than dark hair but thats just me

  • @XOgabby09 Very lucky girl indeed. Nowadays there isn't really a favorite. Men have all different opinions, now. It's about fifty-fifty.

  • @GaaraFangirl117 That is totally true and i think its better that way

  • Has anyone noticed that Mrs Bennett always says "indeed" ? hehe

  • Mrs. Bennet suffers because she has five unmarried daughters. When Mr. Bennet dies Mr. Collins will inherit his land and home. Each daughter who is still unmarried at Mr. Bennet's death will be homeless and penniless. Mrs. Bennet's nerves represent her desperation to find husbands for her daughters.

  • i dont get it, why would mrs bennet ever suffer?

  • "I might outlive you." Oh tears are forming i laughed so hard!

  • I have so fallen in love with this book! This show! and all the movies!

I've always loved these kinds of stories....the mannerisms, the language...just the dignified kindness that everyone presents to eachother. Even if they don't like eachother when they are in company they still display dignified manners.

  • This Mr. Wickham is not handsome enough to tempt me!

  • @angusssss U got 100 likes exactly.. I'm gonna ruin it and make it 101 :P

  • Haha, I love the old guy who keeps saying CAPITAL CAPITAL!

  • is it me or that little girl was just moving her mouth in a very weird way.. I mean she was not singing at all right??

  • @cabamu23 ahah I totally agree... super bad voice over... But I still love this movie!

  • @cabamu23 yes i totally agree, she didn't bother herself ny making it more real!!!!

  • feels like mr bennet's paper is in blank i just had the urge to comment it

  • i always thought that 'Mary' in the 2005 one was sort of pretty in a shy way but this 'Mary' is just... plain! is a nice way of putting it

  • I do find this Jane pretty, she does have that greek air everyone mentions, but the only thing that bothers me is her hair....the bun I think is called.... is way to small for the size of her head she has a big face a big body and big shoulders the bun makes her looks disproportioned

  • "No one knows what I suffer with my nerves. But then again I never complain!" :P :P

  • The casting was so perfect for this movie, I've never seen any other "Pride and Prejudice".

  • I wonder what Mr and Misses Bennet's love story is like.

  • @Tonailsprinkles He went for beauty rather than brains, and when he figured out she was just an empty-headed dimwit, it was too late. He lavished love and attention on Jane and Elizabeth, but didn't invest much in the other girls since he hoped for a son. Then the debts piled up and he couldn't be bothered with Mrs. Bennet.

  • @PrincipessaDellOpera Ouch to mrs bennet. Well, atleast elizabeth and jane are mr bennet's favourite. But it's so obvious that Mr bennet loves elizabeth alot!! Well, too bad, mr bennet never had a son!

  • "Aye aye, the have arms and legs enough between them and are three of the silliest girls in England"

  • @randigarutan And the rest of the family turn to stare at him incredulously. That part always cracks me up sooooo much!!!!!!

  • Does anyone else think its interesting that Mary looks prettier as the movie goes on? She's starting to rank right up there in beauty with Jane and Lizzie. When before, and in the book she's the plainest of the five girls. I always felt so bad for Mary :( She tries so hard, she's a terrible singer and a mediocre piano player at best. But she has potential it seems and she really needs to speak more and I wish the whole family wasn't so tough on her, especially Lydia.

  • Ugh - why the heck did Mr. Bennett marry that horrible woman? I want to slap her every time she opens her mouth.

  • @redscarf89 yup yup i dont comprehend y he married her

  • lolllll.."let us flatter ourself, that i might outlive you"

  • " I might out live you..." hahaha omg I LOVE MR BENNET!!! why couldnt Donald Sutherland be more like this!! and Mrs. Bennett is ANNOYING!!! everytime she times my ears hurt!

  • I LOVE MR BENNET!!!!!!!

  • Haha! All Sir William says is "Capitol!" *Clasp his hands* "Capitol!"

  • Oh whatever like she never complains about her nerves That is a joke

  • Oh shut up Mrs. Bennet

I swear all she says you are vexing my poor nerves, and she complains and complains

  • I'm not really a big fan of Charlotte....she seems kind of a bitch in this movie....I don't know how to describe it

  • @AnnaAnomaly i think she is quite strange as well. She lacks something, every thing she does or says seems like she's fatigued and bored, and she is quite snobby.

  • mr. bennet owns!!

  • why is everyone against poor jane

  • to tell you the truth i think mary is prettier than jane and she was kinda scary looking at first lol.

  • Mr Bennet's sarcasm OWNS!! =)

  • Lol why does Mr. Lucas always say capital?? Is that like his catch phrase?

  • I always thought that the actress who played Jane in this version belonged in an ancient Greek painting or as a Greek sculpture.

    She's lovely.

  • it's funny cos Mrs. Bennet in the 2005 version is more gentle and we are affectionate to her and this Mrs. Bennet is just irritating. She is the one who is the most true likeness to the book. However both are very well played.

  • "..let us flatter ourselves that I might out live you."

    I love their father, lol

  • Who's the girl singing with Mary at the piano?

  • It's their cousin, daughter of Aunt and Uncle Gardiner...even though they don't show her getting out of the carriage when they arrived. You'll see her in following scenes when Lizzie is at their house.

  • It`s Maria Lucas (Charlotte Lucas´ sister)

  • Mrs.Bennet is such a Drama Queen! She is Hilarious

  • People need to stop saying mean things about the way Jane looks - that's a real actress you know, and I seriously doubt that every person who says "Jane looks like a goose" is particularly good looking her/himself.

  • Well said silversmith, take no notice of them its their problem if they want to be mean.

  • yeah. everyone is beautiful in their own way. and jane here is good at acting. besides, during the turn of the eighteenth century and that era, people with jane's beauty were consider far more handsome than that of Lizzie's.

  • charlotte has a awkwardly small forehead...

  • I remember Jane in the 2005 version was much more upset about Mr.Bingley leaving.

  • the jane in the book is very shy and hides her feelings even from her closest sister elizabeth... this adaptation sticks more to the book

  • jane looks like a goose

  • @linafelina I've always thought that myself! She wouldn't be pretty by today's standards, really...just average. Though I think the real reason why people consider Jane to be prettier than Lizzy is because she kind of looks angelic.

  • HAHAHAHHAHA!!

"Let us flatter ourselves that I might outlive you"

    OWNED!!

  • That quote was by far the funniest I've ever heard in my life.

  • "Oh, very ill, Edward, very ill. No one knows what I suffer with my nerves... But then I never complain!"

I believe this made my day xD

  • In all the adaptations I never understood why Lizze was attracted to Wickham, I never thought that he was portrayed a a man who could so decieve a woman like her; the same with willoughby in SS

  • *melsa3* good point, i didnt notice that. i love mr bennet, hes so funny and sarcastic

  • Is it just me or are the dress costumes and outdoor scenery all wrong for the winter season and Christmas holiday in England? I don't think the women would adorn short sleeves, and the trees be blooming and the grass be green for December! Other than this minor error, this movie is fantastic!

  • I really want to strangle the mother

  • i feel really bad for mary, she always gets picked on

  • @AppleBOOKS yeah but i feel as though it's kind of her fault. i feel as though she thinks she better than the rest of them.

  • I dont know why ..but whenever Mrs.Bennet starts crying, I start laughing.

  • lol, me too

  • Her facial expression when she cries is hilarious!

  • hehehe Totally! x)

  • And the way she cries is fake as hell haha

  • @iDazzelYou - I think SHUT UP! ;D

  • @iDazzelYou mr 2... lol

  • @iDazzelYou i thought I was the only one

  • @drumflare12: hahah, dont worry ur not alone xD

  • @iDazzelYou same here. lol

  • @jesusalways13: she's just hilarious. her acting is so dramatic xD

  • @iDazzelYou Probably because it's so faked - it's like she's trying 2 upset herself so people will pay attention 2 her. It's just...weird.

  • do you think lizzie would mind if i killed her mom???

    cuz im about to!

  • This version is WAY better than the 2005 version!!! I love this one! especially Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle.

  • it sounds like mrs bennet is in pain when she speaks... she's overacting a bit.

  • "why, have i not grown?"

-"why yes, in everything but in good sense!"

ahh, how i love mr. bennett's character! :)

  • I love how Mr. Bennett makes the best out of his poor marriage by amusing himself and his daughters with witty replies instead of actually bickering or fighting. Mr. and Mrs. Bennett seem unhappy on the surface, but I kind of wonder whether they really love each other in their own way. Without the other, Mrs. Bennett wouldn't get to be hysterical and Mr. Bennett wouldn't get to make witty comments. So they kindof suit each other even if they're socially embarassing.
