Like Iron Maiden, Blaze Bailey didn't sound good at all on songs that were originally sang by Bruce Dickinson but sounded great on his songs or Paul D'anno's songs (similar voice and tone).
The same can be true for many other bands, Vintersorg sounds better on the stuff he originally sang on and so on and so forth.

Dude, it's a very doubtable thing to compare somebody's skills in vocal, taking in count three things:
1. Garm's bits put here weke taken from album record, both other - from live performance.
2. Those songs were written for Garm's vocal. Can you remember Arcturus' Shipwrecked in Oslo 2005 - Vortex could hardly sing Garm's parts of songs. Take a look somewhere on YouTube - how Vintersorg tries to sing Colossus, written for Vortex/
3. Different time. Compare Worchester live and "My Domain"...
Icy by far, I'm yet to get used to Garm's voice... every time he sings it feels like the instruments are all fuzzy and get over his voice, and neither does he has an incredibly epic voice as Icy Simmen, Icy is incredibly overrated, and that says something. And I'm not even a Vortex poser or something like that, I know and like lots of vocalists, spaning all metal genres, I just say, clean black is dominated by Icy...

Well they are all very talented. I think Garm is a brilliant studio musician but his voice doesn't translate well to live performances. The opposite is true for Vortex. In the studio, especially in Dimmu, they add too many effects to his voice, but live he uses a reverb effect and that is all. It is truly a brilliant experience. It is one thing to sit in your room listening to their voices, and quite another to stand 2 feet from the man as he towers above you on stage. ;) But to each his own!
Vortex is fav for me: His grim and clean vocals are solid and easy to listen. Garm goes the same, but I like Vortex more. Vontersorg isn't good for Borknagar... His live performances of songs from albums where Vortex or Garm were in are just bad. V's vocals are fragile and his grim vocals sound like he's pushed or something. Same goes with his grim vocs. He's good singer, but not right guy for Borknagar :P ICS Vortex back!

Consistency makes or breaks a band, and when he left Borknagar for Dimmu that is called selling out, and what happened Dimmu fired him. You can give him all the credit he DOESNT deserve. He did however 2 of my favorite songs, Nocturnal Vision and The Presence is Omnious, How can you say Vintersorg does boring songs? You're clearly not a fan of Borknagar because a true fan would accept the efforts and NEVER USE the word boring for them making music which is difficult. Thats not fair to say boring

Heh, I've seen some of the live Ulver stuff, it's awful black metal vocals (really bad) and no clean singing. And to my knowledge he never sang at the recent Ulver shows either.
It was back on 93 I think and yes, that video sucks.
Past may, Ulver played in Norway. Search on yt for videos. Only clean singing/speaking. Excellent performance btw. I heard that Ulver will play on Metal Assault.
Hedlund is best imo.

Comparing them regularly, I'd say Garm. However, his performance was not the best possible in Olden Domain.
I prefer Hestnaes, because he added so much passion to the songs of Borknagar with his powerful vocals.
Vintersorg is great too with exceptional growls, but I think I prefer the other two.
