He was the pioneer of that heavy distorted sound that is so eminent in today's rock and metal. Do you like effects? Those wouldn't exist without Jimmy's crazy cartoon-inspired combination of tuning's, string bends, and whammy bar action. Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, Buckethead, Dave Mustaine and many others list Hendrix as a main influence in their playing style.
@thisistheescapeplan In fact anyone who plays heavy music or electric guitar owes some level of respect to Mr. Hendrix for his swift popularization of the instrument. Jimmy Hendrix is not the most technical player of all time, he is @ times downright sloppy, but his style was that of the soul, he was after all influenced by the blues, anyone who plays guitar long enough can play the most complicated scales and chords, but if u do not have music within your soul, all u r playing is notes.
@thisistheescapeplan Notes might sound good, but without soul, they r not truly music, u cannot feel them, u can only hear them, and that is only 50% of what music is.

Im sick of seeing this shit, people asking for tabs all the time, ok it's good that you can read it and play something quickly without prior musical knowledge but too many people are becoming dependent on it. How do you expect to train your ears to hear and transcribe things if you rely on tabs all the time, he even shows you what his playing and tells you the chords
@ashifrin How does that make me a douche? As soon as you ditch tab and start learning to read music and notation you'll become a better musician for it, do you really think Jeff Beck, V Halen, Stevie Ray Vaughn and other greats relied on tab?
@Timmy4pawz People should be allowed to learn at their own pace and if they don't feel their ready to learn from ear then that's fine. But I see your point, learning from ear will help you improve. I'm not quite there yet but will be soon... hopefully! =]
