  • nise.

  • wow!

  • Marquee Moon (1977) is in my top 5 albums of the seventies. I wish they reformed to tour again!

  • Needs cowbell

  • This is my walking down the Las Vegas strip theme song. I live in Vegas

  • GEM OF AN ALBUM, INCREDIBLE

  • How many orgasmic climaxes are there in this song?

  • I am a pedophile and all of the other pedophiles i know only listen to crap like mac miller or wizard khalifa, i wish more pedophiles would listen to good music like this, velvet underground ,etc.

  • @thejoj96 it sounds disturbing...but yeah, television and velvet underground are really good bands.

  • @NiceGirlCalledMia totalement d'accord avec vous !

  • this is timelessness in the form of music.

  • Back in 1977 only AOR stations had the balls to give songs like this airplay. Too bad this album didn't make the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart. It's a bona fide classic. This song is totally epic. Sad thing is that very few stations play it anymore.

  • This song - more than 10 minutes of guitar masturbation. But the whole album is damn pretty good. :))

  • Here I am, trying to find new music to listen to. And I end up not only with 70s music, but also music that my dad listened to when I was little... Story of my life.

  • Television: one of the most unique and talented bands ever. Nobody compares to them. One of my biggest disappointments in my life was not seeing them live. However, did get to see Tom Verlaine and Jimmy Ripp do the "Music for film" project in Pittsburgh. Although totally different than Television, it was absolutely brilliant. But I'd really love to see Tom & Richard Lloyd do a Television concert ( along with Fred Smith and Billy Ficca).

  • Best album ever made.

  • i ate my wifes placenta to this song

  • poo poo

  • Top Ten: Best albums ever made 10)Highway 61 Revisted - Bob Dylan 9)Sgt. Pepper's - The Beatles 8)London Calling - The Clash 7)Doolittle - Pixies 6)Horses - Patti Smith 5)Surfer Rosa - Pixies 4)The Velvet Underground & Nico - The Velvet Underground 3)The Doors - The Doors(oh really?) 2)Marquee Moon - Television 1)Revolver - The Beatles
  • @guilhermevideira17 whats wrong with the doors?

  • @lewllo Nothing, it is obvious that the band is The Doors!!! hahahaha'

Ps: It's my personal list, do you like? ...And i Love The Doors

  • @guilhermevideira17

    The doors started post punk....

The beach boy's later stuff is also really good.

  • Comment removed

  • @guilhermevideira17 No! haha u said The Doors (Oh really) and I thought the "Oh really?" was kind of a "it doesn't deserve to be on any list" type of comment. sorry haha awesome List though! Something by Radiohead on the list could of been good?

  • Anyone got some similar bands suggestions for me ??

  • @lewllo Well it's very hard because for me Television was one of hte most original bands of the punk, but the closest band could be maybe ''Wipers' but first try to listen ''Joy Division'' and ''Suicide''. Later you got ''Pere Ubu''. ''Husker Du'', ''Fugazi'', ''Thatcher on Acid'', ''Reagan Youth'', ''Magazine'', ''NomeansNo'', ''Poison Girls'', ''Chumbawamba'', ''Blyth Power'', ''Public Image Ltd.'', ''The Cows'', ''Butthole Surfers'', ''Sonic Youth'' and ''Melvins''.

  • @lgacouldbedangerous Thanks really liked all them especially fugazi!

  • @lgacouldbedangerous

yeah but you gotta be diggin some blur, The specials, English beat, The furs, Echo and the bunnymen....

  • @lgacouldbedangerous YOU HAVE AMAZING TASTE!!!!!

  • @lewllo also adds ''Fugazi'', ''Pixies'' and ''The Mob''

  • @lewllo Richard Hell and the Voidoids/ Neon Boys(song: Dont Die)

  • @unfamous13 I'm watching "Smithereens",love R.Hell & The V's-"Blank Generation" is a fave.I'm surprised "The Jesus and Mary Chain" haven't been mentioned."Psychocandy" is 1 of the most important albums of the '80's & a fave of mine.As 4 songs,The Undertones "Teenage Kicks",gr8 song & the best rock song ever written,according 2 John Peel;Sisters Of Mercy "Temple Of Love".P.S.How about Bikini Kill,Dead Kennedys,Pavement...

  • @apokryphos117g We could go on just naming a million bands, I was just naming the two acts that are in fact the most closely related to the band. Neon Boys IS Television, and well, you know Hell

  • @apokryphos117g <3Pavement<3

  • The Strokes' lead singer said he had never heard of the band "Television," which told me everything i needed to know about the Strokes. Although I do appreciate their music and melody, "Television" is certainly more innovative.

  • @mlc2005 Obviously he is a moron

  • amazing

  • still one of my favourite albums of all time.....

  • there are 2 stupid lakers who copy all song of this album : artick monkyes and strokes

  • Fuckin Brillant.

  • just missed the man i wanted- fuck he went off with my friend in a morgan- thank god it wasnt me !

  • I marauded to you - thanks!

  • This isn't a song. It's an experience.

  • I was born way too late

  • The Strokes suck. Why are you guys talking about them?

  • Days of youth!!

  • music made by angels.perfect

  • i was blown away when i found out this was from 1977. NINETEEN SEVENTY SEVEN. Brilliant.

  • 18 dislikes? how can you dislike this song??? so great.

  • Great sound...great poet!!!

    Tom Verlaine...!!!

  • would some good soul download television marqueemoon full album plus patti smith horses album ive just lost mine in a fire good xmas presey Buddy!....

  • After 50 some years as a music lover who appreciates all music genres (except death metal, I just don't get that) this is probably my favorite song ever. TheEnchantingWizard1 said it was the alt music version of "Stairway to Heaven" and I agree. Country rock had its "Freebird". Prog rockers have Yes' "I've Seen All Good People" and anything by Gentle Giant, "Stairway to Heaven" is the metal fan's opus. Punk has The Stranglers "Down in the Sewer". This is the alt rock anthem.

  • @briansnat

The Strangler's Down In the Sewer?

This is more punk than that.

  • @briansnat I agree although lately my fave's been UNDERTONES "Teenage Kicks",this is 1 of the gr8est songs & album.I'm 35 & like you I can't get in2 Death Metal.I'm going2 sound old saying this but it it really does sound the same(especially the worst the group is at playing). It does nothing4 me emotionally.

  • @apokryphos117g You don't sound old, you sound like a tool. "gr8est" Really? It was faster to type "8" than "eat?"

  • @jaredcraig3 Yes,especially once you get used2it.You're the only1 2 bitch & since my opinions were written4some1 else, why should you care? Are you that desperate?

  • @apokryphos117g The fact that you are the only person I've commented on in well over 2 years should say something. Doesn't help that you don't put spaces between the numbers either. This isn't Twitter. You get 500 characters. Don't be afraid to bust out the big boy words like "to" and "one" and "for." I know it's tough, but you'll get used to it, I promise.

  • @apokryphos117g ha ha - twitter freak

  • @oxopig Actually,I have a Twitter acct.I rarely,if ever use.I have quite a few people following me including the La.State Police though,mostly,it's small record companies,a car dealer,fitness sites,tech sites...I have a couple of bona fide people,but,that's it.I used 2 follow every1 who followed me,I learned.

  • @briansnat Dude, if you like all that music you should give death metal a chance, you're missing out. I'm an expert on death metal and metal in general, maybe i could help.

  • They had such a great look too. They didn't overdo it. Lloyd and Verlaine shared the same four or five shirts. I actually loved when they abandonned that flamboyant punk look when Richard hell left, and started looking like depressed woodcutters. This album cover is a classic. They're just RIGHT THERE in your face.

  • I used to get high to this song. That beats getting high to let's say Lee Perry, Gong or Pink Floyd's first.

  • @AlNaafiysh -take it from me-you can enjoy getting high to all of 'em :-)

  • @AlNaafiysh Not Gong,,!! And definitely not Hawkwind !!! Peace Ye`aL

  • emily lander

  • comfortable, very comfortable , or just kinda sane and waiting?

  • Where are you guys?

  • The alt-rock Stairway to Heaven?

  • @TheEnchantingWizard1 haha yeah I see what you mean.

  • First heard this in 1982 ... still sounds as fresh today ... love this band :)

  • This has to be one of the most underrated albums ever...

  • look at these fucking hipsters

  • @LordDracha

Yeah, REAL 70s hipsters; the ones who all modern hipsters try to look and sound like and can't come close to...

  • @LordDracha this song is the alt-rock equivalent to Stairway to Heaven dipshit. this isn't for hipster wannabes, who want to look cool by listening to it. this song is a classic for anyone who actually appreciates music. but you can keep listening to your lady gaga dance beat garbage that's been recycled over the past ten years.

  • @serpico89 you've just describe yourself in your own comment.

  • @jasperwoods yes because you know "exactly" what i listen to, right? for your information i actually do listen to mainstream music. i don't discriminate. i listen to anything that's original and i could care less if a band gets popular. nirvana was underground and then they became popular. and they still kicked ass. you need to lay off of 4-chan buddy. the internet isn't just memes to spew out. i'm so "sorry," i didn't know i wasn't allowed to like a band from the 70's. grow up.

  • Great song, great voice

  • recently started listening to television, this is a brilliant album and it honestly sounds like it could have been released today

  • Musical Geniuses.

  • coolest song ever made I'd say

  • This is the stunning combiantion of art and punk rock. "Marquee Moon" is one the best albums I'll ever hear in my lifetime.

  • grateful deads meets talking heads

  • thumbs up if you're a brony.

  • I loved It DEEP

  • Punk 'Prog' - love it!

  • Pete Townshend once said that Tom Verlaine was a genius

  • one of those accidental songs that gets better with age.... simply put... classic.

  • Comment removed

  • Just to let you guys know, when I said "Underrated", I meant it's underrated in terms of not being recognized as one of the greatest songs of all time. In fact, this song didn't even make "Rolling Stone" Magazine's Top 100 Greatest Songs of All Time, if I'm not mistaken. Just clarifying there for everybody.

  • @PatPatrick01 I bought the Rolling Stones 500 Greatest song's magazine, maybe a year ago, and I know for a fact that this song wasn't on it. I have seen the album as a whole on a few lists, 128 on Rolling Stones 500 greatest albums but without this song I doubt the album would be nearly good.

  • Mista, Please Mista, it's been over 30 years... may we have some more please!

  • Looked at the first minute of this in humanities class today and was like: FUCK YA!

  • This is quickly becoming one of my favorite songs. ever.

  • I`m glad I got into this group. I would feel so cheated out of life if I didn`t know about this album.

  • A long time ago... I was reading about people planning their own funeral, especially the music they wanted played...I started thinking this would be one of the cherished tunes I'd like people to enjoy after I'm gone. Want to share it with as many as possible. And yes, definitely the shortest 10 minute song ever. While writing this while listening, Tom is getting into his lengthy guitar solo...oh, happy salvation. :D

  • @1norwegian1 It's definitely on my "Funeral Songs" playlist.

  • Some people say "Like a Rolling Stone" or "Hey Jude." I say "Marquee Moon" is the greatest song ever made.

  • @DandyDizzy definitely a contender for it; i just got this cd and i can't stop listening to it.

  • When he says Marquee Moon... chills...

  • Thumbs up if you think this is the most undernourished song of all time. ;)

  • almost 11 minutes of pure musicality

  • 14 people are 'beibilers' or 'little monsters' who don't know what REAL MUSIC is.

  • I'm listening to this song right now TWICE; Here on YT AND in Gran Turismo 5 while I'm doing a B-Spec Endurance Race. How fucking dope is that?

  • the guitar work in this song is fucking incredible especially the riff in the chorus and tom verlaine's solo

  • one of the best songs ever recorded

  • erm, and? Nothing special about those guitars...

  • @alicullen

you must've been accidentily listening to another song with this song on mute

  • Doesn't the singer sound EXACTLY like Mick Jagger? Probably with a higher pitch but it's the same TONE!

  • @jevimetal13 i know what you mean!

  • "A Cadillac it pulled out of the graveyard. Pulled up to me all they said get in. Then the Cadillac it puttered back into the graveyard. And me I got out again."

    cool story bro

  • Guitar and percussion at their best

  • Marquee Moon is the most beautiful guitar piece ever. It's pretty much peerless.

  • Underrated? This song's considered one of the best guitar songs in all of rock history. Deservedly so. Guitarists pray to it.

  • thank you pandora for introducing me to this amazing song. can't wait to explore their other tracks.

  • The bridge around 8:48 could go on for another 10 minutes in itself.

  • @MichaelLoveGun I completely agree. It's so pretty.

  • oh man, i miss this.

  • @fatfrankblack Thats because your an underdeveloped pop-head. Wait a year or two and you'll get it.

  • thanks scott thompson, from south bend. my friend from iu. 75-78

  • Blimey.......Happy days

  • I'm sad...I didn't know about this band back then. But I'm happy now that I know. Better late than never

  • the most unpunk record from the punk era

  • @ColdOasisU2 Would be interesting to know your opinion of Patti Smith.

  • @namelesstombstone After I type the comment i remember about the album Horses

  • hell yeah

  • sup strokes .

  • HEY !!! WATCH JELLY PLANE on YOUTUBE !!!

  • I hate when people say this crap, but... 14 people don't know crap

  • If this is the last thing I hear, I will have lived a happy life.

  • "Forget all the New York minimalist punk stuff. Television's music is the total antithesis, and to call them punk rock is rather like describing Dostoevsky a short story writer"

    - Nick Kent 1977

  • @Charliejenkinston

Punk's about the feeling and the ideology, not the song structure. For me, they may not be a punk rock band, but they are part of the punk movement.

  • i wish this song was ten minutes longer...i always get sad when its finishes

  • @upabovechoices thats why there is this button called rewind. you can restart a song. its pretty cool. if you like a song, you get to listen to it again. being a punk fan, i have 2 to that. because they are just getting started and the song finishes. your comment makes me a saaaad panda

  • this song is musically what the movie "tree of life " is visually... take a long drive to another state , far drive to the middle of no where, etc. and play this... youll discover yourself.... song is hypnotizing

  • 34 years on and I still listen to this album. Can't say that for many other artists.

  • SO MUCH AWESOME!!!!

  • The Strokes owe everything to this band.

  • @MEYERS3000 it's true. i love them both though.

  • @MEYERS3000 Television owe everything to The Velvet Underground

  • @MEYERS3000 The Strokes don't even deserve a comment on Television's video.

  • @MrVoyaging I fucking agree with you

  • @MrVoyaging The Strokes

  • @MrVoyaging oh stfuuuu. Television is one of my favorite bands of all time, but let's face it, the Strokes took the style and made it their own. On top of that they are disgustingly consistent with their tracks. So let's stop the hate.

  • @jadakiss98682 Hehe sorry, only meant as a joke, The Strokes are a good band. Television is millions of times better, but they are just that good.

  • Thumbs up if you think this is the most underrated song of all time.

  • @PatPatrick01 But it's really highly rated!

  • @moscowguitarman Yea, I'm with you on this one. Probably the most underrated song of all time has only been heard by the people who made it, and no one else knows about it.

  • @PatPatrick01

I didn't listen to all the songs of all time. so, no thumbs up.

  • @PatPatrick01 yeah baby

  • Comment removed

  • Marquee Moon (1977) is one of the finest albums from the seventies!

  • Okay, okay, okay. The critics were correct. When I bought this album back in the mid-ninties I just didn't get it. I should have tried listening to it between then and now.

  • Brilliant, simply brilliant. A song so good, the only way to describe it is to listen to it.

  • Superb and timeless. Post punks version of "Some Kind of Blue"

  • @MyTeffy1

yeah its so complex to be a punk song that its just sound fusion

  • my all time favourite track ever <33333

  • Amazing such genius only put out three albums.

  • Trading perfection tension guitars, heart beat pulse bass beat, drop down solidify beat drum, high hat. Voice that demands attention. Arrangement second to none. Genius.

  • @probrojeffro .... you nailed it in words :-)

  • This is the only 10 minute song I can think of that's too short.

  • @YouGotWoodRolled Yeah or anything by Dream Theater. This song is still incredibly awesome though.

  • @YouGotWoodRolled Edge Of Sanity Crimson??? Eh... You probably aren't into metal, but if you were you'd know that a 40 minute song of pure melodic death metal rawness isn't even long enough.

  • wow! 20 seconds into the song im already a fan!! eventhough they are from the 70's i think they gave birth to modern indie music!!! they were ahead of their time.. great find!!
