The only thing you really need to know are the chords and the position of the capo, but meh, those are pretty easy to figure out. You got eyes too :D

Not everyone has great pitch. Some people are born with perfect pitch, others with relative, other with no clue what to do, so they have to train it.

Tabs are made for people who have not learned how to read music, or those to lazy to do so. Some people just need the help.
