So I have read all of the comments to this video. My son is 9 yrs. old and has his full black belt (not junior). Our school is offiliated with WTF and USAT. His certificates for all of his belts have come directly from the kukkiwon in Korea. For those of you who don't know that is the international headquarters for tkd. He tested on the adult level for his black belt and passed all of the requred testing.
ok that was great but seriously why now front kick his has when he slaps kick him! im in vovinam and sparring way 10 times more aggressive then this! we actually use our hands! wimps
@imabemik I am not high in the belt ranks yet but from what I have been told no. the point system is purely punches to body and kicks to body and head. no legs no arms no grapples from what I have been told. If I am incorrect I welcome people to correct me.

I think both did real well, but could benefit from much more variety in kicking. Only those that can effectively counterkick (ex. backkick, back hook kick) in TKD should fight with their arms down. The best argument I've heard against kids getting black belts too young is that adult students shouldn't be forced to bow to a 10 year old they can't look up to. True blackbelts possess skill, wisdom, and maturity. 7 to 10 year olds may have the skill, but simply do not possess the other two.
wow, they are very good, very fast. It's hard to believe how far and how hard they've probably tried. Black belt at ten years old. That's not only impressive but shows what determination and perseverence, two things you learn in taekwondo, can give you... :D
in my opinion, even 13 is a little young for a black belt, i've trained for 11 years and I just got my black belt last june (I'm 19, by the way), my school has a rule that you can't test for black belt until you are at least 16 years old because many kids arent mature enough to handle what the higher level techniques can do to others, my instructors would even stop a 10 year old from testing for even brown belt

On my opinion, age does not matter as long as he/she passed the blackbelt requirement like doing the poomse of yellow up to blackbelt, breaking a board, sparring with 2-3 tkd blk belt and fully understand the discipline of tkd . and it depends on the person if he motivate more to be the best, but mostly, they train further to honor their belt.

Ok, I understand the belt thing and what it traditionally symbolizes. But in my opinion, a belt is just meant to keep your pants up. You can wear any color belt you'd want, it's just that black looks better to wear. I also believe that a black belt shouldn't symbolize "the best" because it definitely does maintain that humble martial art mentality. In Korea, black belt belt is where the true learning begins. Why limit yourself to the "sky".

We are allowed to be black belt after age 14 ... if below 14 is black-red ... aka. Poom Ttti ... Ttti mean belt ... and the test is same as adult's black belt training .. after he/she reaches 14 with 2nd poom it straight away goes to black belt 2nd dan ....

Martial arts classes, above all, are businesses. There are LOTS of people with black belts who can't do 10 proper pushups. If you pay the class enough and stay enrolled long enough, they'll eventually give you your black belt. It's kinda unfortunate...
thanks for your criticism however uneducated it may be. SPORT or Olympic Tae Kwon Do is a SPORT w/ specific rules. I would no more expect a boxer to do well against another form of martial arts where leg kicks, chokes, or locks are used. I do not, nor do any of the SPORT TKD practitioners advocate Sport TKD as a street fighting or MMA martial art style. I would expect a higher tolerance, understanding, and appreciation from a fellow martial artist such as yourself

@drogerstkd2 tae kwon do is one of the best street fighting martial arts and is used in korean street fights all the time because of the strict weapon laws even body guards there use it. theres even a killing version of tae kwon do made for fighting to th death, meant for fast kills and disabling hits. your legs are one of the most if not THE most muscular part of your body and if you use tae kwon do and hit someone right you could kill them or knock them out fast. street fighters swing aimless

when i was 11 i got blue high.then i quit.i started one week ago again and now i am white belt but i can kick they asses with or withound teakwan do moves.now i am 14 and white belt.but i will get back and maybe i get to the red!
i'm 15 now , i'm white beld ,guys in my club make a lil laugh with me,while they are red/black 15 yearz , but my agility pwns there asses , my kick's are so much better then theirs , and they have absolute no speed. i'm the only korean in my club, trying to work my way to black beld and getting big titels (thats my dream,and i will pursue it.
Don't hear this guys talking about belts, a belt just mean the individual effort each one gets in a period of time. These kids are great and I know they get a junior black belt, when they are adults they can continue with advanced technics and weapons, you never stop learning.
Its not that anyone sucks it meens he has to work on his round house. it is a dificult kick to get power from, but it is popular cause its easy to throw.
Keep in mind that they are in tournament which is an Olympic style sparring. The objective is to score points and win, not to hurt or to bit the opponent to death. The participants need to do what they feel most comfortable and fast to score (plus those kids are just 10). Fancy kicks don't always lead to point scoring in sparring. Want to see fancy kicks... watch the creative forms competition instead. No offense.

I'm going to bet you practice 2-3 times a week and have been at it for at least 4 years. Curious.....did the tournament rules not allowing kicks to the head? The none stop point sparring is more fun to watch than the single point sparring. More action! Nice work.

Tae Kwon Do is primarly based on kicks, you dont really score for punches unless you almost knock the guy over, and no punches to the head are aloowed. Kicks to the head are allowed , usually over the age of 13. Throws are not allowed in WTF Style Tae Kwon Do.. thx for the comment

I'm kinda a hypocrite when I say that. my school will give black belts to kids who are weak and have have poor technique, but I've decided that belts don't mean anything to me anymore. As long as I'm learning useable material, people know I'm good, and I know I'm good, I'm happy.
I guess that depends on what MA you are talking about, this is WTF style, sport tae kwon do. It is not uncommon to earn a BB in this amount of time for WTF style TKD.

As it takes minimum 6 years to get there and minimum age for first Kup is 7 years, you have to be at least 13 for a black-belt in most of Europe.

@gazzaboy111 If you truly knew martial arts then you'd know they are not wearing the same belt as their instructors. There are several degrees of a black belt. I suspect these kids to be 1st degrees.

They're only 10 years old! They're not allowed to wear black belt! I have a 10 year old girl with green belt here in Sweden who could defeat them. She could probably defeat both boys at the same time! This video is bad for TKD!

when i was 11 i got blue high.then i quit.i started one week ago again and now i am white belt but i can kick they asses with or withound teakwan do moves.now i am 14 and white belt.but i will get back and maybe i get to the red!

i'm 15 now , i'm white beld ,guys in my club make a lil laugh with me,while they are red/black 15 yearz , but my agility pwns there asses , my kick's are so much better then theirs , and they have absolute no speed. i'm the only korean in my club, trying to work my way to black beld and getting big titels (thats my dream,and i will pursue it.

Don't hear this guys talking about belts, a belt just mean the individual effort each one gets in a period of time. These kids are great and I know they get a junior black belt, when they are adults they can continue with advanced technics and weapons, you never stop learning.

Its not that anyone sucks it meens he has to work on his round house. it is a dificult kick to get power from, but it is popular cause its easy to throw.

Keep in mind that they are in tournament which is an Olympic style sparring. The objective is to score points and win, not to hurt or to bit the opponent to death. The participants need to do what they feel most comfortable and fast to score (plus those kids are just 10). Fancy kicks don't always lead to point scoring in sparring. Want to see fancy kicks... watch the creative forms competition instead. No offense.

Add 100lbs and another 2 feet and you have two olympians here. Nice work! I'm not sure I agree with Migo53333 since your sparring looks like the big boys. I'm going to bet you practice 2-3 times a week and have been at it for at least 4 years. Curious.....did the tournament rules not allowing kicks to the head? The none stop point sparring is more fun to watch than the single point sparring. More action! Nice work.

Tae Kwon Do is primarly based on kicks, you dont really score for punches unless you almost knock the guy over, and no punches to the head are aloowed. Kicks to the head are allowed , usually over the age of 13. Throws are not allowed in WTF Style Tae Kwon Do.. thx for the comment

Wait I thought kung fu didnt use a belt system. I guess I was wrong. But yeah, I don't think it's right to give people black belts too fast unless they have REALLY proven themselfs
I'm kinda a hypocrite when I say that. my school will give black belts to kids who are weak and have have poor technique, but I've decided that belts don't mean anything to me anymore. As long as I'm learning useable material, people know I'm good, and I know I'm good, I'm happy.
