Funny as it sounds, I've been coming up an escape/vent for mine rescue and basic escape practice when a rock has been dislodged by a co worker. 900 meters up a shaft that leans left and right and the ladders follow every bend. If you think about the near km underneath you for a bit, the climb gets a bit harder. Drop a 15 pound rock and you heard what happens! First rule in a gold mine, don't look up the ladder if someone yells "look out!!"
That may be a raise bore or shaft, drilled n fired fro
I'd throw a road flare down there to make sure there wasn't any methane down there and then I'd grab my harness, hook it to that cable and start climbin down. :D
the ladder stops about 30 feet from the bottom and the last 30 ft of it is destroyed, but i didnt use the ladder i came in from the lateral tunnel on the other side of the mountain about a quarter mile long easy walk straight in with two short side tunnels , all very clear of debris exept at the bottom of this air shaft in the video where there is a 10ft mound of sluff
God damn! how friggin' deep is that thing? man, i would NOT be standing too close to that. i remember once driving thru Tonapah NV, and took the "old highway road" once out the other end of town. there are mine shafts all over the hills out there. parked, walked up to a little hilltop, and..there, fenced and posted: DO NOT ENTER, was a hole, and i walked over near the edge, omg! at least a 100 ft. down into the darkness. if i had fallen in, that's it. life over. no one would find you
@Lynchie" Lol! funny how you'll get a "reply" from some Idiot (Yup, that's you, Lynchie! ) months after the Initail comment you left. comes out of nowhere. utterly forget these little "gem's' we leave behind for other Moron's to Chew on, and drop their response. HEy! Today, I check, and, it's YOU! oh well, on to my Point. took a couple seconds, after the usual moment of readying myself to "Tear that Idiot a new one...(yup. you again! ) till i realized it was actually Funny! nice!
erm, thats either a ventilation shaft or a maintenance bore hole...not much of a shaft. Usually abandoned boreholes are covered, ladder removed. The fact that the ladders still in place gives me freakish thoughts
i would of climbed down that ladder and made a more useful video.....

how did you know there was no-one in the shaft before you did the daft trick of lobbing rocks down it....tut tut
1941bc 1 year ago
... know anyone who's gone down? I'd do it- at least i would when
I was younger and healthier for the adventure. First I'd measure
distance. 2nd- lower a camera/light rig to get an idea of the
well & ladders' condition- plus what lay @ the bottom- this would
determine the risks' value. 3rd- once depth is known I can rope-up&
collect necessary gear/lights- biners'n'shit 4 rap'ling down.
And some guards up top sos no one pisses down while I'm in.
or... balls-up, get a light and just climb
SittingMooseShaman 1 year ago
use that as a real trap door just place a big rug over it and when some unluckey basterd steps on it they fal to their death :P Lmao

This is a ventilation and emergency egress shaft.
The ladder is only as good as the rock and the holding bolts.
I can give you one reason why people do go down and a hundred reasons why they should not.
