NOTES BEYOND B5, like A5 can be hit in full chest... Whitney damaged her voice by not mixing her head and chest doing long notes.. but she still use to pull it off.. and a few performances Patti did too.. but singer choose not to do that because it takes alot out of you.. Plus over time it damages your vocal chords to belt out notes beyond A5 in full chest voice and holding so it can be long... That's why you they don't hold the note for too long it has to be short so it won't cause damage!!

Stevie Wonder is A GENUIS. Eventhough he is blind and knew that Patti was holding the mic for him to sing in, he then used his own mic to cut it short for Patti to be able to use her own mic. THAT's Brilliant to me. I guess its true when they say when you do not have one sense, your other senses are much stronger!!! Thank you for posting this. I remember being home one New Year's Eve and stumbled upon this. Patti was in great form. This is the highest note I've ever heard her hit in full voice. I don't think she's ever sung quite so high like that again (at least not with the full voice/mix she did here). Patti is a Bb5 kind of soprano which is no small feat when taking chest voice up.
