That video is full of bias and half-truth. The land was offered to the travellers by a well known scrap dealer who had told Basildon Council that if they continued to pursue him to remove the illegal scrap yard he had developed in Greenbel...t, then he would sell to the travellers. The travellers knew at the time that this was what was happening &they knew that the hard standing needed to be removed as part of the order on the land.

I'm concerned by your reference to "These People" it seems that you're happy to demonise a whole community even though a few bad apples are the problem. I'm struck as to why you feel gypsies aren't deserving of sympathy. The vast majority in the gypsy community are appalled by the behaviour of the few. But to be honest criminality isn't my main issue, the upcoming eviction at Dale Farm is. There are more humane, safer & cheaper ways of dealing with this than eviction.

Councils have a duty of care to provide sites for gypsy travellers, but for years now have consistently failed to do this! Maybe instead of evicting these gypsies, it's time we think about prosecuting local authorities for not upholding the law!

The land was offered to the travellers by a well known scrap dealer who had told Basildon Council that if they continued to pursue him to remove the illegal scrap yard he had developed in Greenbel...t, then he would sell to the travellers. The travellers knew at the time that this was what was happening &they knew that the hard standing needed to be removed as part of the order on the land.
Also,these people are not Roma, they are Irish travellers.

I am familiar with RTE doc and alot more stuff. The Cromwell event was a big part and the genetic studies cannot disprove this. Massive displacements of native Irish populations of course preceded and followed Cromwell in London's radical scheme of massive ethnic cleansing. This is about people who broke the law ten years ago, and that is the main question about this insanity! Why wasn't this resolved a decade ago?!! A lot of people are also punished by the planning laws, when they weren't knowingly breaking the law, where's the pitty for these people?

Do you all think that the United nation representatives are so stupid not to have done their home work before helping the travelers. I am not a house owner or a traveler but a simple person and I can see a con when I see one. And it seems to me that the council of Basildon have a hidden agenda for Dale Farm. Question. Why calling the site part of the green belt when the site was previously a junkyard and that the travelers did all the clearing. so what is the truth. Peace.
