Gold always has value. As for the oil resources, the US doesn't control it like they control Iraq's. BULLSHIT...period. There is oil and gas in Hispaniola -DR and Haiti- but it has never been profitable enough to extract and process. I know, because I live in the DR and I have seen some of the areas where explorations were conducted, like in the Azua region (not far from Haiti's border), and they still have some wells standing. Things could change with the way energy markets are behaving but believe me, there was nothing Haitians would haven't done to attract investment in that area before.
