But, since the satellites have such a high speed, the curvature of Earth causes the satellite to never get nearer the surface. In low orbit, they lose some speed all the time, due to the thin atmosphere up there, and slowly get lower and lower, so they finally fall into the dense atmosphere and desintegrate.

Even at the altitude where ISS orbits, there is a very thin atmosphere. It's therefore it has to be boosted to a higher altitude from time to time. Otherwise it had already been coming down in flames.

That places them in a little denser atmosphere, which makes them slow down more, sink more and so on. At last the atmosphere is so dense and slows them down so much that they no longer can stay in orbit. They fall and burn.

even though the world is quite large i am starting to learn that the areas in which the majority of the world population inhabit are not that large. Majority of our earth is made up of areas which are not really accesible and have little facilities and are either too hot and dry or too cold for growing food for modern humans. the parts of the world where life exists are not that large.

@MazisKam habitable zone is pretty big, an inch wouldn't make much difference. there are potentially lots of earth like planets seen from kepler space telescope. there is no need for a designer. why satellites and space junks dont just get disappear in space? what makes them stay close to earth? is there some kind of enery holding these? where it comes from?

@bonfido The sattelites orbiting around the earth are in Low Orbit, the reason we stay on the ground is because of gravity, which creates an orbit, the gravity reaches out almost into space, so they deploy these satellites, every once in a while they'll either bring the sattellite down or send it off into space so that they can replace it with a new one! In the old days this would have been very rare, but we use satellites to broadcast things like tv and internet all around the planet!

@bonfido Actually, the satellites and space junk fall all the time, due to the same gravity force that makes everything on Earth fall. But, since the satellites have such a high speed, the curvature of Earth causes the satellite to never get nearer the surface. In low orbit, they lose some speed all the time, due to the thin atmosphere up there, and slowly get lower and lower, so they finally fall into the dense atmosphere and desintegrate.

@armandux1productions If there was a dense atmosphere at the altitude the satellites orbit, they would sink, fall and desintegrate wery quickly. The atmosphere of course gets denser the lower the altitude gets.
Even at the altitude where ISS orbits, there is a very thin atmosphere. It's therefore it has to be boosted to a higher altitude from time to time. Otherwise it had already been coming down in flames.

@armandux1productions Even if the thin atmosphere doesn't slow down the satellites so much, a little slower speed makes them sink a little bit. That places them in a little denser atmosphere, which makes them slow down more, sink more and so on. At last the atmosphere is so dense and slows them down so much that they no longer can stay in orbit. They fall and burn.

Yup, Space Program was totally not worth it. That 149 billion dollar shuttle program was a waste. It should've gone to Obama's bailout, which helped advanced society much more than going into space. It's not like doing something incomprehensibly epic is important or anything.

even though the world is quite large i am starting to learn that the areas in which the majority of the world population inhabit are not that large. Majority of our earth is made up of areas which are not really accesible and have little facilities and are either too hot and dry or too cold for growing food for modern humans. the parts of the world where life exists are not that large.

I saw earth in space ... but i didnt know where was i standing at that moment not on earth obviously,and suddenly earth broke into pieces like a crystal ball,watching this i felt like my heart started to sink with fear.... and when it was happening a lady was signing in my ear in a light tone...

@MazisKam habitable zone is pretty big, an inch wouldn't make much difference. there are potentially lots of earth like planets seen from kepler space telescope. there is no need for a designer. I think we should appreciate the fact the we can see the universe and recognise it for what it is, i think that's special. don't take it away from us by putting a creator on there.
