Loved the video. However I would have liked to see "Girl on a Dragon" in the background during a brief kissing scene where Beloved gave Fitz back his memories and emotions that Fitz surrendered to the dragon. The actual kiss was very brief. Agree that Beloved looked very masculine, would have liked to see Beloved look androgynous as it would better match the books. Still--loved it!
Fitz didnt find the fool attractive. and yes they kissed. but just for a moment so that fool can give fitz back the emotions the felt for molly, the ones he gave as a sacrifice to bring the girl on the dragon to life.
This way hobb showed that they put no bounds in love for each other, as a friend to a friend .(my opinion)

that's one of my favorite part too. it made me cry. it shows how much fitz love the fool.
i also like the part in Assasin's Quest where the Fitz woke up in the Fool's house in the Mountain Kingdom and the Fool was expressing his deepest emotions to Fitz
i think he is male too, because in the "mad ship", when the crew were fixing paragon for the quest to get vivacia back, Althea described Amber as having a Spear-shaped body. women do not have spear-shaped bodies, their hips and shoulder are usually the same width.

I know. When I read the Fool's poem at the beginning of the chapter, I burst into tears knowing it was his poem. And when I got to the last chapter, I forced myself to read it, and when I set it down, I felt like a part of me had been stripped away. I keep reaching for a book that's not there. Though the books are very good in general, I think what made me cling to them in the first place was this elusive, yet beautiful relationship between Fitz and the Fool. I literally cherished every little moment between them, from those wee jokes Fool used to make to moments like chapter "Quarrel", when he confesses his love to Fitz.

My answer, for what its worth, is that perhaps all Whites are 'intersex'.That not only did Fool choose a characterisation to fit into each place (the kings fool; the woodcarver; the foreign nobleman) the gender of each characterisation was also a distinct choice.Towards the end of the ninth book,I think Fitz realises this,though never explicitly. Hobb meant us to read nine books about this person and not know that persons gender. I said it was inspired. Its brilliant.

I would have to respectfully disagree. Hobb never confirms the Fool's gender. If he had to be either, I'd prefer him to be male, but I'm much happier not knowing/him not having a gender.

I'm sorry. I can tell that a lot of effort went into this video, but it comes across like bad teenage fan fiction. The meaning behind the kiss between Fitz and the Fool has been taken completely out of context and just cheapens that whole scene.

The clips all really define their relationship in the Tawny Man trilogy: the Fool's boundless love, Fitz's essential loneliness, and the bittersweet ache of their parting. This video shows a precise reproduction of the events in the books. Still I can't withdraw myself to the impression that the maker of this video has pointed out the homosexual issue even more obvious than the writer did, especially concerning the kissing scene. But then, who cares? The video still is lovely and fits the books well and in the end, the fact that the fool was never clear about his true identity was the actual issue for Fitz (though he didn't like to admit that).
I agree with you on some things, but what i interpreted from the books was that Fitz did love the Fool.. but Molly was his first and greatest love and always would be. It would be cruel to Beloved to give him something he couldn't have completely, it had to be all or nothing and he couldn't do that to someone he cared about.
Here is my 2 cents on the whole 'gay scene issue.' In the series, Fitz is a 100 % straight, and the mere rumors about him being Lord Golden's boy/man really strained their friendship, because the Fool did not understand Fitz's problem. For the Fool, the issue of sexuality was beyond the rigid gender roles of this society. So my interpretation of this clip was from the perspective of the Fool, who did seem to love Fitz unconditionally, but in the story never crossed the boundaries set by Fitz.

ok, what the hell. that just butchered the book. yeah, its great that you can make a movie of such high quality, but....no. i dont see what everyone likes about this vid. its horrible. the graphics dont suit the theme of the book AT ALL, and the music is horrible. i dont mean to be an ass, but uh. i absoulutly love these books, and i mean LOVE these books, but i cant bear to see someone make such a pigs arse of them.

Very moving. I think the Fool actually IS male, as the Pale woman is obviously female and they are the same kind. Fitz has not been disturbed by the Fool's love for him, even though Fitz himself is clearly 100% straight. Their friendship makes those differences between them irrelevant. Their reciprocal platonic love goes much deeper. That's what this splendid clip expresses even better than the book if possible.

There was never any gay scenes in the book if you're still wondering or haven't read that far.
The whole point is that not even Robin Hobb herself knows the gender of the Fool, he was and always will be, a very private person. He never shared himself with anyone.
Fitz seems like a typical medieval male, and in a fight in 'Golden Fool' makes it very clear to everyone that he does not wish Fool for a 'bed mate' as he eloquently put it.

I found a lyrics site on the internet and there people found very different meanings in the song... one wrote that it is about the war in Iraq, another claimed that it was about Final Fantasy... I agree with you though that it could be about Fitz as well.

I would have to respectfully disagree. Hobb never confirms the Fool's gender. If he had to be either, I'd prefer him to be male, but I'm much happier not knowing/him not having a gender.
And ultimately, Molly ends up with Fitz. Did you actually read the Tawny Man trilogy.

I'm sorry. I can tell that a lot of effort went into this video, but it comes across like bad teenage fan fiction. The meaning behind the kiss between Fitz and the Fool has been taken completely out of context and just cheapens that whole scene.

The clips all really define their relationship in the Tawny Man trilogy: the Fool's boundless love, Fitz's essential loneliness, and the bittersweet ache of their parting. This video shows a precise reproduction of the events in the books. Still I can't withdraw myself to the impression that the maker of this video has pointed out the homosexual issue even more obvious than the writer did, especially concerning the kissing scene. But then, who cares? The video still is lovely and fits the books well and in the end, the fact that the fool was never clear about his true identity was the actual issue for Fitz (though he didn't like to admit that).

I agree with you on some things, but what i interpreted from the books was that Fitz did love the Fool.. but Molly was his first and greatest love and always would be. It would be cruel to Beloved to give him something he couldn't have completely, it had to be all or nothing and he couldn't do that to someone he cared about.

Here is my 2 cents on the whole 'gay scene issue.' In the series, Fitz is a 100 % straight, and the mere rumors about him being Lord Golden's boy/man really strained their friendship, because the Fool did not understand Fitz's problem. For the Fool, the issue of sexuality was beyond the rigid gender roles of this society. So my interpretation of this clip was from the perspective of the Fool, who did seem to love Fitz unconditionally, but in the story never crossed the boundaries set by Fitz.

ok, what the hell. that just butchered the book. yeah, its great that you can make a movie of such high quality, but....no. i dont see what everyone likes about this vid. its horrible. the graphics dont suit the theme of the book AT ALL, and the music is horrible. i dont mean to be an ass, but uh. i absoulutly love these books, and i mean LOVE these books, but i cant bear to see someone make such a pigs arse of them.

Very moving. I think the Fool actually IS male, as the Pale woman is obviously female and they are the same kind. Fitz has not been disturbed by the Fool's love for him, even though Fitz himself is clearly 100% straight. Their friendship makes those differences between them irrelevant. Their reciprocal platonic love goes much deeper. That's what this splendid clip expresses even better than the book if possible.

BTW for all u gay rights ppl out there, i aint acctually against gays. but i HATE camp. and my point is basically this depiction out of all the scenes in the series they pic this which shows nothing of the main story, and spoils it for fans who like the book for its heart and middle ages feel

Yeah I agree.
There was never any gay scenes in the book if you're still wondering or haven't read that far.
The whole point is that not even Robin Hobb herself knows the gender of the Fool, he was and always will be, a very private person. He never shared himself with anyone.
Fitz seems like a typical medieval male, and in a fight in 'Golden Fool' makes it very clear to everyone that he does not wish Fool for a 'bed mate' as he eloquently put it.
Don't worry.
It ended how it was meant to.

And, may I recommend the song Hand of Sorrow by the Dutch symphonic metal band Within Temptation. I think it's very obvious that some of the band members read the books.
You'll find this song on youtube, but don't watch (listen to) the live versions. ;)

I found a lyrics site on the internet and there people found very different meanings in the song... one wrote that it is about the war in Iraq, another claimed that it was about Final Fantasy... I agree with you though that it could be about Fitz as well.

You're being stupid. Every single scene in this video is in the book. They embraced and touched brows, they kissed on the mouth, Fitz comforted the Fool in the Pale Woman's palace, and the Fool kissed Fitz's palm. If the book is a bible to you, then you should know that!
And using words like fag is offensive to many people! If you have such a problem with homosexuality then maybe you shouldn't read these books anymore, since it's fairly obvious that the Fool has homosexual feelings for Fitz!
