just got me a 97 that looks just like the blue one, all wheel drive and with 75k on the engine. the car is mint condition! thinking about off roaring the shit out of it to give it some character. its unbelievably clean!
My 01 (AWD) is surprisingly capable off-road. It's no Jeep CJ, but It'll go places 95% of the machines I drive by on a daily basis can't, which is more than enough for the majority of drivers on the plant.
I got a 1997 CRV with about 140 000 original kilometers. I put some Toyo open country all terrain tires on it and it just pounds through trails. Tires make a world of difference.
As ford guy I was reluctant to buy a honda but now with 272k miles on my '00 crv I have never owned a more trouble free vehicle. When it hits 300k I'm going to have it dipped in bronze on mount it on my roof. :-)
I would not have tried that with street tires. They are capable little vehicles but the right tires make a world of difference. Glad you guys didnt get stuck. Or did he at the every end?
I've got a '99 with a 5 speed, 217K miles and on the original axles, struts and shocks. Good little vehicles. Wish i could buy another new just like it when this one wears out - which it does not appear to be doing very quickly.
We pull a Brenderup 1205S trailer for our "expeditions" with our kids, dog and mtn bikes.
@ANNEBOYD23 hii there... i got the same 1999 model CRV 2 liter engine, 4 cylinder i did take it off road (on sand) but i never got that 4 wheel drive when my car got stuck....like in your video @2:32 i see the rear tire spinning my rear tire would never spin...only the front ones will...does this has to do with the over drive on or off ??...
@sunny211085 If your front wheels are spinning one of the rear should be spinning. Otherwise you have a problem with the rear differential or it is a two wheel drive model.

There are all kinds of Crv around here. New and old. You can't go around the block without seeing one.

@mixflip We don't get stuck. At least not for long. Skill plays a big part in any off roading.

I know. That is with all season tires. I wonder what it could do with some good off road tires.

@sunny211085 overdrive is fourth gear. Turning it of locks out fourth gear and has no effect on the 4wd.
