love the audience's costumes, the dancers, Amanda's slightly androgynous look along with her bitchin' jazzy and rock-n-roll voice. Great video. I find a lot of others from this album are just the camera on her in various positions while she lipsyncs the songs which is kind of boring. And Shores of California looks astoundingly and dissapointingly similar to a pop video like Katy Perry would make or something, so, yay, glad to see a video that shows her at her awseome, orignal, unique roots

The album is decent. But IMO this is the weakest track. All sorts of pitch problems with her singing and it's borderline unlistenable. I usually skip this one when I listen to the CD. From what I understand she had over 30 songs for the album why they went with this one is beyond me. Still, with awesome songs like Runs in the family, Point of it all, and Astronaut, I can overlook this.

@zombiefeast78 IMO it's the only listenable track, aside from Oasis, obviously :) I've listened to several other tracks from the album and felt little interest in hearing them again, yet this song grabbed me by the throat the first time I heard it one year ago and I keep coming back. The song is powerfully emotional and the video is pretty darn stunning on its own, though I would rather have seen more of Ms. Palmer. Still, two thumbs up for both.

This might just be my own interpretation, but I think this song is about anti-gay rules. Some of the guys in the beginning of the video are definitely drag queens, and there are gay couples later on in the video (4:00). For instance, the line "It's polite, it's polite, it's offensive, it's offensive" means that gays are shunned because they aren't "polite", but it's "offensive" to be treated like that. Also, "...when there's southern comfort" could be a reference to the conservativesinthesouth.
