  • Letterman and Conan (moreso when he was on Late Night) have had the best musical performances on Late Night. Not sure about Carson cause I wasn't around to see his show in full.

  • No hat!!

  • David Letterman: Are you the drummer?

    Benny Horowitz: *nods*

    David Letterman: Good!

  • shit gives me the chills its so good

  • What are you the drummer??

  • @PaisleyWilde

ahhahahaha....Letterman is always such a clown

  • who could've disliked this song?

  • @ryboyin Hitler

  • i could never understand if somebody doesn't like this song

  • This band has so much heart. It's nothing less than incredible.

  • Letterman seemed to like them.

  • @joaoluizsn "my god that was good!"... Seems like it was more than just "like";)

  • David Letterman- "You the drummer?" What an ASS Dave is.

  • @kobe9985 hahahaha i never liked that guy. I always thought he was an ignorant fuck bag who had less sense then a rabbit during mating season.

  • Wow! This is awesome! Love this song! We just got the cd after hearing them w. Bruce and on David Letterman!

  • Hahaha, I like when the bands excite Dave. Those are the good ones.

  • @badname1986 that's true. been true since like, warren zevon.

  • no other genre can pull off live like punk

  • @something1523

yeah because this is that much punk... NOT

  • wow I can't believe it's been a year since I first saw this, I was just watching the show and I heard him say "The '59 Sound", didn't think anything of it at first but when I started hearing the music and realized who it was I shat bricks because I had no idea they were gonna be playing on the show.

  • Mossy Stump has a crush on his dad.

  • I definitely like this song, it's the only one I know from the Band but I'll start looking for more.

And that lp record is awesome! I'm glad artists are starting to release their albums in this format again!

    Will get it soon.

  • what are you the drummer? HAHAHA

  • Many artists will sing the songs differently, not necessarily a mistake...he could have done it on purpose

  • you telling the guy how to sing his own song??? :P

  • Lol Totally :D

    /sarcasm

Nah, It was just making be twitch because the *official* lyrics are written differently, by all means he can sing it however he wants, I just get really bugged by small things like this :)

  • It actually happens a lot i've seen them 6 times and at least once a show he fouled up a lyric

  • Its his song... sooo... nomatter how he sings it, it's right.

  • he does kinda laugh it off like he knew he messed the words up a bit at 1:50

    fuck it this band rocks!

  • I love Dave.

    "What are you, the drummer?"

    lol.

Anyway, a great band that's only getting started. Imagine what other fantastic songs these guys will write.

  • listen to all their music, they have already written tonnes of fantastic songs!

  • these and the airborne toxic event are the best thing to come out of america in years, seen both live in ireland, both great! :)

  • I second that. I almost crashed my shitty car when I first heard this song. "These chains I been hearing now for most of my life". When lyrics surpass reason and interpretation and hit you on such an honest, accessible level, you can't help but be swept away by it.

  • or just a torrent...

  • Live performances make or break bands...Alkaline Trio was awful on Letterman and it took them about 6 more years and extremely improved live shows to get really mainstreamed...after this, the G.A. won't have to wait that long!

  • An amazing live performance!

    Very impressive

  • Wow!

This is the first I have heard from The Gaslight Anthem and after 4:01 I am proud to say that I am now a fan!

    Great vid!

  • Could use Youtube downloader and then convert it to MP3. Just an Idea Bud =]

  • i get chills every time i listen to their music, it is that good.

They're gonna be famous someday, i just hope they don't stray too far from this great sound. Great for them though, to be playing on a big stage like this one after only 3 years together.

  • they're going to be famous?? they already are dip shit thats why they're on letterman

  • well.. I mean famous as in everyone knows who they are. can you honestly say 5 of your friends would know who they are? there aren't 20 people in my school who even know about them, and I've told most of them.

  • as he said 59 sound the time on the video was 1:59

  • what are you the drummer? LOL

  • i heard this song for the first time today, i can't believe it....last saturday a girl i knew died in a car accident. it's so crazy that i hear this song now, it's like it was made for me to hear ("young boys, young girls ain't supposed to die on a saturday night")

  • this song makes me miss my grandma

she always used to sing Ray Orbison tunes to me, and she had this old fashioned radio she used to let me use,

    i loved it.

    The gaslight anthem is great

  • they sound alot like against me

  • no way

  • this song reminds me of my grampa dying,he used to love 50s music espescially nat king cole,Dave was impressed thats rare.

  • It reminds me of a death in the family too. It's not a surprise because this song is about a friend who died in 2007.

  • Dave's reaction is great, it was genuine

  • rock!

  • i saw these guys play at a small bar in Jersey before they were big. it's unbelievable where they've gone. definately one of the best bands out there.

  • They have been around for a few years, they friggin slayed this though...unexpectedly to me, they have so much energy it is easy to blow that kind of thing.

  • these guys are gonna be huge

  • I don't think so, but they are the best band out now.

  • im seeing them this thursday. i dont know if ive ever been more exited for a concert

  • holy fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk that was so awesome.

  • holy shit, that's an ace live performance.

  • Less than a month until I finally get to see these guys...

  • I swear, their choruses are so life affirming! Just belt out and forget the world for a while...

  • waiting for them at the rock in idro in milan. With flogging molly, gogol bordello, social distortion, allamericanrejects & babyshambles

  • don't they sound like they should have been round for years? such a classic sound. this particular song sounds like something from Rancid "out come the wolves" circa.

  • Yah but with a lot more focus. This band is awesome.

  • i cant wait for june in hyde park i get to see these guys dave matthews band and the boss my god that ll great

  • im seeing them in may but its just htem still cant wait though

  • Yeah, hard rock calling's gonna be amazing!!

  • I saw them in detroit too, and they kick ass, love the retro feel, totally detroit rock city

  • 'what are you? the drummer? good.'

    this man is a genius!

  • hahah :D

  • Deffinetly a band worth seeing live.

  • One of the best bands out there.

  • The whole time I was watching this I was like shit, that seems so familiar - it just hit me, I saw them open for Thrice, Alkaline Trio and Rise Against in Detroit, when he said they were from New Jersey it clicked because I remember them saying that at the show. These guys do put on a great show.

  • i got chills like 9 times while watching this

  • shit, these guys are good. I think David Letterman was surprised how fucking good it was haha.

Hope they come back to Australia soon.

  • this band is so good its stupid.
