Letterman and Conan (moreso when he was on Late Night) have had the best musical performances on Late Night. Not sure about Carson cause I wasn't around to see his show in full.
wow I can't believe it's been a year since I first saw this, I was just watching the show and I heard him say "The '59 Sound", didn't think anything of it at first but when I started hearing the music and realized who it was I shat bricks because I had no idea they were gonna be playing on the show.
Nah, It was just making be twitch because the *official* lyrics are written differently, by all means he can sing it however he wants, I just get really bugged by small things like this :)
I second that. I almost crashed my shitty car when I first heard this song. "These chains I been hearing now for most of my life". When lyrics surpass reason and interpretation and hit you on such an honest, accessible level, you can't help but be swept away by it.
@Attarraxxia "When lyrics surpass reason and interpretation and hit you on such an honest, accessible level, you can't help but be swept away by it." that is the best grouping, and usage of words i have ever read.
Live performances make or break bands...Alkaline Trio was awful on Letterman and it took them about 6 more years and extremely improved live shows to get really mainstreamed...after this, the G.A. won't have to wait that long!
i get chills every time i listen to their music, it is that good.
They're gonna be famous someday, i just hope they don't stray too far from this great sound. Great for them though, to be playing on a big stage like this one after only 3 years together.
well.. I mean famous as in everyone knows who they are. can you honestly say 5 of your friends would know who they are? there aren't 20 people in my school who even know about them, and I've told most of them.
i heard this song for the first time today, i can't believe it....last saturday a girl i knew died in a car accident. it's so crazy that i hear this song now, it's like it was made for me to hear ("young boys, young girls ain't supposed to die on a saturday night")
i saw these guys play at a small bar in Jersey before they were big. it's unbelievable where they've gone. definately one of the best bands out there.
They have been around for a few years, they friggin slayed this though...unexpectedly to me, they have so much energy it is easy to blow that kind of thing.
don't they sound like they should have been round for years? such a classic sound. this particular song sounds like something from Rancid "out come the wolves" circa.
The whole time I was watching this I was like shit, that seems so familiar - it just hit me, I saw them open for Thrice, Alkaline Trio and Rise Against in Detroit, when he said they were from New Jersey it clicked because I remember them saying that at the show. These guys do put on a great show.

I definitely like this song, it's the only one I know from the Band but I'll start looking for more.
And that lp record is awesome! I'm glad artists are starting to release their albums in this format again!
Will get it soon.

Damnit, mistakes were made.
he sings " But I still know the song and her name and the words and the reasons"
but its "But I still know the song and the words and her name and the reasons."
MossyStump 2 years ago
Many artists will sing the songs differently, not necessarily a mistake...he could have done it on purpose
