  • have to use a heavy duty a/c extension cord sold at home depot or you'll fry your window unit !!! trust me I do a/c in florida ,,,,, and this guy has a law suite after his a/c window unit fell out and kill an old man walking down the street , well not really but why didn't he screw it down ?

  • My window area does not have a plug. I have to use an extension. Is that ok if it is one of those three hole ones?

  • matt serra

  • @cypherg everybody has a unrelated twin lol

  • MISTA MISTA!!!

  • Three things wrong with your installation job:

[1] You should use an a/c window bracket to prevent your a/c from falling out of your window.

[2] A thief can simply raise your window and take your $300 a/c if he has a ladder.

[3] After taking your a/c (or not), a criminal can crawl into your house for more thievery and other mayhem because your window is unlocked when the unit is in place.

  • thanks that worked out for me I installed it but didn't do it proper

  • With this application i am concerned that the vibration of the a/c unit the window will raise up and the a/c will proceed down to meet the neighbors window unit.

........Hey the dog did a good job!

  • Make sure the air conditioner has a slight down tilt so rain will roll outside instead of inside. .Sliding Windows with plastic or pvc tracking can be damaged by a heavy ac unit. I put wood boards on the ledge outside the window to help support the weight and stable it. I also put wood pieces in between the tracking to keep weight off the thin plastic. You could also make a wooden support from the window to the floor to keep as much weight as possable off the window frame.

  • wow u showed us how to put it in the window! my 3 yr old knew how to do that.. someone should make a vid of these impossible to put together ac's, u know, before we have to put them in the window. that's the tough part. yeah some are basic but i got one that you need to graduate ac school to even know what the directions are talking about.

  • How to install in side opening window?

  • @dubiiie10 you need to remove the window, then install a piece of plywood above it in place to cover most of the exposed window. I also highly suggest using brackets to support the weight of the A/C. Relying on the window to hold the A/C in place is not smart. Especially if you live in a apartment, 20 stories high. A better option is using a portable A/C with flex hoses. They are easier to install in a crank open window.

  • @alexanderquijada i have had mine this way for 10 years..even in the winter, high winds a, a few blizzards a year never had a problem,,,

  • Your dog is in the way... I can't see the proper placement of the a/c in the sill. And there was too much chit-chat; next time, just cut to the chase. Thanks for trying to help us out, though.

  • Hi NIck,

Thank you for taking your time to make this video.

    Stay cool!

  • I've never seen a dog stay that interested in something that wasn't a squirrel for so long. Did you put him on ritalin?

  • dont you screw the lips at the top??

  • clayton looks like a fucking hippie who hasnt shower in years

  • fuck that dog

  • shut up bitch

  • I like the dog.Very cute!

  • You should have included installation on a vertical sliding window.

  • What a bunch of stoners.

  • you guys are fucking stupid. WOW! you taught me show much...dipshits

  • I like the dog!

  • I like the dog too!Very cute!

  • i have a window like this, do you not need to install the brackets?

  • @weliveinigloos The Brackets come with the AC itself but what they are not explaining is how to mount the brackets in with the AC.

  • good video dude..just right for the do it urself r-tard like myself...definitely a good video..like the dog..nice touch

  • His unit is kinda small. Needs something larger to fill that hole.... >:))

  • Looks like Jared Loughner. frightening.

  • Dropping a $300 Air Conditioner out the window...It's kinda like throwing money out the window. =D

  • thanks man

  • cute dog....

  • @violasarah2000 cute man

  • Do you really have to explain this 3 times in the video. I think we get it the first time.

  • And screw the AC lip to the window to secure it morons.

  • Some body take that stupid dog out of the way ! is so distracting ....

  • You must be STRONG as an ox to lift up that thing. I have such a backup unit and they weigh a ton. I would put a piece of wood on the top of the window so nobody can lift the window and steal it.

  • Rock on man, helped me a lot!!!!

  • i hear that air conditioners get stolen alot

  • YOU LEFT OUT THE MOST IMPORTANT PART !!! There are holes in the air conditioners upper frame for screws to go thru to attach it to the window frame, TO PREVENT SOMEBODY FROM OPENING THE WINDOW AND HAVING THE AIR CONDITIONER FALL OUT ONTO SOMEONES HEAD!!!!

  • @spartaeus which won't help if you have a metal frame......easier to put a piece of wood as a wedge on the top part of the window frame

  • Btw, its called a Casement Window.

  • The window I have in my room only goes to the left or right, I have to rotate the handle to move it. Is there a air conditioner for that?

  • LOL @ 2:08 Happy Gilmore, hahahhahh

  • Thanks for posting, it was helpful. Guys give him a break, he can only show you on the type of window he has in his house. Mine was identical so like he said it took all but a few mihnutes. The a/c won't fall out of this type of window because the upper lip of the window is applying certain amount of pressure against the a/c whereas the lower part is applying opposite force which keeps it balanced.

  • Nice Tutorial.

  • I like the tips you gave on installing the units. I only wish my windows worked like yours and was that easy to keep up while putting it in the window.

  • Loved the gilmore reference

  • my window is tall and slides to open its not like this window

  • i live in an apartment and im super scared its gonna drop!!! why is it so easy for you! :( and i have a diffrent kind of window too so its hard :( anyone having the same prob?

  • The dog is annoying and blocks the view. You dont explain the bottom lip, just the top one, which is obvious.

  • Thanks Chindro! Cool name!

  • Thanks, u and ur dog are so cute! I have a window but no AC, I need a ride to the store but there are no good heart people in Salem, MA. A cab will cost me $50 =( plus the cab drivers are as* h***** and wont help me putting the AC in the trunk.

  • @VeryDamaged4life Oh that sucks, i'd drive you but i live in ottawa canada.

  • @VeryDamaged4life dont u have friends lol?

  • @pspsp5 I don't have friends, and I don't see what's funny about that.

  • yeah i installed it no big deal,,,,, but my window is too damn big for the little white things on the side lol...shoulda measured :(

  • great now let the DOG install it he's being watching all the time

  • Thanks for the great tutorial!

  • OMG dude, I already kinda knew that part. Was curious to know how to actually install it the right way with weather stripping and insulation and all. Mine is already hanging precariously in the sill with air and bugs coming in because the little flaps don't do very much.

  • OMG dude, I already kinda knew that part. Was curious to know how to actually install it the right way with weather stripping and insulation and all. Mine is already hanging precariously in the sill with air and bugs coming in because the little flaps don't do very much.

  • I don't understand how people on the street side of apartment buildings can put these in without giving themselves a heart attack from fear of murdering someone. I admire you for caring more about damaging your AC when it connects with somebody's skull at a=F/m or however that works.

  • that crazy dog is blocking the bottom view...can't see how you mounted the bottom

  • no mounting brackets? drilling screws into window sil? etc???

  • Installing those window flaps is a pain cuz they don't stick on the AC unit.

  • uhhh.......crook could get in your house easy now!

  • thats a gay dog

  • okay so dumb question, but it wont bother it that much if it rains on the unit right?

  • Thanks for this video guys. :) You all went in detail back to back.

  • What about a window Thats shuts Sideways ? do they make them for that? and do they work for regular outlett

  • YOU GUYS YOU SAID SOMETHING IT IS OBIOUS. DUMMY

  • That's like a perfect window for it though. If your window is not new, it's a pain becasue they never fit right. Usually you have to use towels and stuff.

  • Thanks so much! We were terrified to put one in since we were so high up, but the fact that you did it with such confidence made me worry so much less!

  • Thanks for sharing :-)

  • Very helpful, thanks!

  • dont jump Lightning! its not worth it!!!

  • put a piece of wood on top to jam the window shut. that way it doesnt fall out accidentally when bumped

  • Thanks

  • Funny how Clayton is trying to demonstrate conscientious safety.......yet, he is wearing no shoes while lifting a very heavy item, that would probably break his unprotected foot if dropped.

  • I wish these "How To" videos were more HOW TO and less blah, blah, blah......

  • is the back of this air conditoner blue?

  • Yo I appreciate the effort, but not everyone has the same window as you. The lip of the window frame can be different, as can the lip on the window itself, which is more important. My window lip projects into the room, about two inches and it has a curve to it. If some Happy Gilmore business goes down somebody could die, a lot of people on my block below me. There has to be a sturdier solution.

  • Thanks, I couldn't have done it without Lightning's help

  • these guys seem awesome. i wish i were good friends with them!

  • how would i go about installing one in a dog house

  • Clayton is HOTTTTTT!

  • i dunno why but somehow this made me laugh xD

  • The dog is funny lol

  • Is this a fucking joke, that unit isnt even fasted down, fall out the window, and as if that peice of shit weather shield will do anything,

  • @supersexyroybird yeah the unit can possibly fall out the window and kill someone... this guy has no idea what he's doing. an AC unit should come with mounting brackets you must install. you also need to caulk/seal around the frame somehow and generally insulate/weatherproof everything. these aren't really 'optional' things.

  • What if some asshoel opens your window, won't it fly out?

  • it will drop out of your window and you need a new airconditioner

  • 4 Month for a decent response.. lol, there are normally screw holes on the top lip that you can put screws through into the frame of your window, they could probably still open your window if they had a screw driver handy or if they just pushed it till it cracked the frame but i don't know why you would let someone in your house that would purposely do that lol..

  • that's why its nice to have a bedroom in the basement and windows that are low to the ground so if it falls out it will only fall a couple inches and hit the ground.

  • @RenegadeFury LMAO!!!

  • @RenegadeFury You have 3 options

    1. Glue it

    2.Get a gun

3.Beat the shit outta the asshoel XDD

  • @RenegadeFury ahahahahah nice one lol

  • @RenegadeFury you should run around opening random windows w. a/c lol

  • @RenegadeFury Same thing i was thinking about. It should be gluued in such a way that the AC won't fall off.

  • @RenegadeFury dont u wonder why does it have holes on it? ur supposed to open holes on ur window that fit and the ac, then you just screw in

  • @RenegadeFury you see the little hole, you put a screw in

  • @RenegadeFury lmfao. yeah pretty much :D

  • @RenegadeFury Yes. Yes, it will. I had an AC fall out of a three story building once. I was taking it out for a friend and didn't know he installed it without rear support. No one was hurt...except the air conditioner.

  • @RenegadeFury Now why would somebody do that when there's a air conditioner in the window? Dummy.

  • AWE PUPPY :D

i need one for a side window :l

  • i know i might just turn mine on its side lol

  • is it really that simple? just cling on? is it safe? i wanna do it but i dont want it to fall down on the street like one of those car insurance commercial

  • A side opening window is what I would like to know how to install the same type of air conditioner. I just cut a piece of plywood to fill the gap. Is their a better way?

  • cpetitclerc73 asked about a side-opening window.

For these you need a "casement window" air conditioner. Sears has these, as do others. At Sears, click to air conditioners, then to their "Specialty" category.

There's nothing really special about air conditioners that fit into casement windows, that's just Sears.

  • thanks Nick, i'm glad you took the time out to post this video; it really helps noobs like myself. have a good one

  • ANd now there is someone on the door... you want to look.... open the window.... KADANG..

  • the only problem with this video is that my windows slide open sideways how do you install a window air conditioner on my type of window ?

  • mine is side open window, too. Is there any vidoe that teach how to install air conditioner to side open window.

  • i wish nick gardner were my boyfriend so that he could lift my air conditioner to my window. also, once the room cooled down we could do a lot of other fun things. hee hee.

yes the dog is the cutest thing i've ever seen.

  • It would be a good idea to add an "L" bracket, screwed into the upper sash, at the top edge of the lower sash (with the air conditioner in place). This would prevent the window from opening accidentally and help prevent break-ins through the window. I would also insulate between the two sashes to prevent warm outside air and insects from entering the room.

  • What if you don't have any buddies? : (...

  • Thanks, I never would have figured that out on my own. Incidently, how are you securing that 60lb steel box in to your second story window? Those screw-sized holes in the sides of the wings aren't vents.

  • Thanks! The directions that came with the air conditioner were confusing.

  • Thanks a ton for the help. I thought it was going to be that simple, but it's nice to see someone do it before I attempt it on my own.

  • I wonder if anyone ever accidently dropped the airconditioner out the window, that would be hilarious!!!!

  • That little dobie? "Lightning" is great.

  • Was the cameraman standing in a rowboat on a choppy ocean? :) Or had you guys had a few beerz? :)

  • a bit long-winded

  • thank you so much!

  • Thank u so much my sister and I just bought an air conditioner today but had no clue how to install it.

  • .....Can anyone recommend an ac window unit that will actually cool a 12x20 room? I bought a Frigidaire from Lowes thinking it was an American made unit...wrong!...cheap peice of crap made in China...and yes,I followed all trouble shooting instructions and it doesn't cool worth a flip! To my horror,I found out that most American co.s...even G.E. have sold out to China. They have no sense of quality control. Help...I'm burning up!!!

  • Why not using mounting brackets?

  • Comment removed

  • totally needed...thank you thank you thank you.

my unit i bought off a friend so no directions glad you made the video

  • Thanks, dude. The directions I got SUCKED!!!

  • thank you very much, I actually gonna put one in today cuz it's like a 92 degrees out here!

  • Its been like that for me for the last 3 weeks... Chicago is a city where you can't predict the weather as stable.

  • I don't know who's cuter, Mr. Gardner or the dog!! What was the dog's name again? That dog is too cute, but I'd be afraid he'd jump out the window.

  • It also may be a good idea to screw the top of the AC unit into the window itself just in case the windows opens.

  • thanx

but yes how we can install one in a right left slide window?

  • They make window units that sit vertically for casement and slider windows. You can find them on Amazon.

  • @gardner6172 Don't suppose you would be willing to do an instructional on how to install a casement A/C?

  • @gardner6172 you asked the question i ask .. what type you get

  • Most modern homes have windows that slide sideways, not up and down. What then?

  • then get a portable air conditioner

  • they make air conditioners for those windows too :)
