*zToggle it's in the Utilities section in Cydia today from the BigBoss repository.

If your multitasking doesn't work, get zTogglr. Allows you to turn on the wallpaper and leave out the multitasking. But the wallpaper really slows it down. You can have either. Don't forget to install SBSettings and free up memory sometime if you have the app switcher! Tip: use the same lock and homescreen wallpaper. It helps the iPod pull out the springboard faster.

Does everyone else running iOS 4.2.1 see the random lines across certain buttons and text fields when using this method? I know that there is a issue with 4.2.1 using most other methods of enabling multitasking where springboard crashes when switching from one app to another. The issue can be fixed by changing "opengles 1" to "opengles 2", but the lines are a unpleasant side effect. I was just wondering if this method has the same side effect since I didn't see anyone mention it in comments.

The problem that you non-hardware aware people don't understand is that the 2G iPod and 3G iPhone only have 128Mb of ram.. The iOS/Operating system for the devices uses 100Mb of RAM all by its self. So basically if you have more then three applications open your device will crash and the springboard will reset. That is why only the 3G(s) and iPod 3G+ got official support for it, due to them having twice the amount of RAM and faster processors.

theres another way to get it other than downloading features. search Enable Multitasking and Wallpaper....... wen u type enable it may show Enable usage ipt for one of the selections u can download that select it in winterboard and go to settings general and right under about it will show usage just like on the iphone 3gs and iphone 4 u can clicxk on it and u can turn on battery percentage

If you jailbreak with a program called "Redsn0w", you will be able to do all these things too, but faster. If you have your iPod already jailbroken, you will still be able to do this. It takes bit longer, but it's more reliable. And easyer. But if you're lazy, do this. (an iPod slows a lot down if you setup a homescreen background. Even with redsn0w!)
