  • @leslyclaypoolio i wouldnt see y not just put some crysco or shortening in the ends i shot mine 10times n it was fine

  • I gots me a 5 1/2 inch barrel version on the day i ordered on the new years day sale, and can u tell me if this blackpowder revolver is a smoothbore or posses some sort of rifling please and thanks :1and what size caps do u use for percussion?

  • @Deadeyedavid177 most ikely you have a rifled barrel, with the gun unloaded, look down the barrel, if you see deep spiraled grooves cut into the interior of the barrel its rifled! Most of the reproduction pistols use a #10 cap.

  • after watching this video i appreciate a lot more modern cartridges

  • you don't need to removethe cylinder at all to load this weapon, in fact its safer to perform the loading with the cylinder in the gun, or use a re-loadng stand

  • I use pre-lubed wonder wads. They eliminate the need for grease by sealing the powder very tightly under the wad and eliminating the risk of chain fire. I find it much less messy than grease.

  • No grease? That is the best protection for a chain fire.

  • It's okay to load powder and ball with the cylinder off the gun, but capping should only be done with the cylinder installed on the gun. If you should drop the cylinder with it capped you could end up with a 44 caliber ball in your leg or someplace worse.

  • @canon21100 Agreed. You should never cap a loaded cylinder that is not in the gun. Even the simple act of inserting the cylinder into the gun can bust a cap. BOOM!!!!!

  • I have seen those pellets. It looks like a great idea and would certainly be easier than pouring powder in each cylinder. Having multiple cyliders is also great I have 3 now. The big innovation in this model is how easy it is to swap cylinders. On the previous version you have to drive out a wedge which is not practical during a battle.

  • There is an awesome pyrodex product that makes loading a snap. They're pellets that have the power of 30 grains of black powder. You just put it in, then you put a wonder wad in there, and then you seat the ball over the wad. It is a LOT easier than messing with loose powder.

  • if i where in the civil war i do about 5 of these thing the night before the battle but this is a good gun

  • I use 30 grains of FFF black powder. It seems to be about the perfect load..

  • Nice video dude. But How many grains of black powder you put in the barrel ?

    Thanks.

  • I use "Wonder Wads" from Cabelas. They are much less messy and easier to use.

  • What do you use as bore butter?

  • Do you tap down the ball?

  • @armypenguin yeah using the same lever he used to tap down the wads

  • @FerociousSniper thanks

  • have you ever tryed the conversion cylinder thay make?? shoots 45 long colts or a 45 acp??

  • @460faust The conversion would be .45LC only. You can find some in .44-40. 45ACP is for the Colt 1911 only. (ACP stands for Automatic Colt Pistol)

Although I am not the author of this video, I own several of the original and the conversion of the 1858 revolver. Both are a blast to shoot.

    Hope that helps.

  • @ccastellani85 no thats not true... buffalo arms offers both cylinders for 45 long colt or 45 acp ( think the 45 acp only comes in blued cylinders)..... thay sell what thay call a moon clip for my taurous judge revolver.. to fire acp loads

  • @ccastellani85 The Kirst converter has a 45 long and ACP one look it up
