  • I am a Nidan in Midori Yama Goshin Jujutsu, and I approve of your demonstration. You will always have people putting in their "two cents", but that is just the way it goes. - Jozai Senjo

  • Try this: when you (tori) is standing face-to-face with uke - as in the setup with this video, dip with your right knee first while shooting your right shoulder towards his leg for the throw. THEN once you've wrapped uke's leg, dip your left knee while completing the throw. Your upper body will naturally twist forward and to the left, and gravity will do the rest (this motion occurs because your upper body is following your lower body). It's faster, easier on the knees, and better technique!

  • @delaseoul87 That is a good way to do it too, in fact I filmed this particular vid over 2 years ago and we do it more the way you describe now. Very similar to how Gokor teaches it. Thanks for the tip!

  • my pleasure, I'm a big fan of the eastern influence that teachers like Gokor have brought to judo. Unfortunately, the IJF just banned kata garuma from competition, so my favorite throw is out lol

  • And Te Guruma, one of my favorites (unless you use it with a combination of Hand Technique or defense) They banned grabbing the pants or legs to discourage wrestlers and BJJ athletes from competing I think.

  • It was mostly aimed at wrestlers. The heads of the IJF absolutely despise how singe/double legs have forced judoka's to modify their stance to defend against the shoot, and how more and more competitors are relying on the effectiveness of the single/double as compared to more classic throws like seoi nage or tsurikomi goshi

  • I have an advice: as most BJJers you grip way to close to the wrists. Try gripping a little above your partner's elbow and use the same dynamics and strong pull you are using now: you won't believe how much stronger the throw will become.

  • so the force of the throw really comes from the pulling of the uke's right arm? right?

  • Yes, pull hard on the arm, drop your head by their hip and let leverage take over...

  • ive tried it on randori and it worked. thanks.

but that move isnt allowed in judo competitions anymore. IJF removed A LOT of techniques, or whatever you wanna call em.

  • Drop variations work extremely well when ou grip higher behind the tricep on the arm.

  • Great vids! Are you showing the similarites of Judo/Kosen Judo and BJJ? Many thanks for your time!

  • I recently suscribed and you got some good videos

  • Thank You
