in my mind, every song in sonic 2 fits with its stage. Emerald hill zone makes you happy, and it is a nice palm tree island, so yo should be happy. Chemical plant zone sounds like some techno thing, and the level you are at is all robots. death egg zone makes you sound like you are in space(Which you are) This theme sounds like Jazz which is what you listen to while gambling

Back when games were actually FUN to play - not built around ridiculous strategies and learning new skills just to get to a boss who keeps killing you anyway. Love the colour and level designs in the early Sonic games, and of course the music :D, and the fact that it's just "run, jump, collect as many rings as possible" - takes you AWAY from the world as opposed to dragging you further INTO it.

i love this zone y'know i remember a couple years ago

i was playing the mega collection and then i played sonic 2 i found out about the special stages but didn't know what the emeralds where

i used inbuilded save states(I WAS 8 OR 9 YEARS OLD OK) to get them all

i didn't knew what they did since i couldn't read english that well

then at the boss i had 50 rings i jumped and BOOM sonic transformed into super sonic and i was speechless and killed of eggman so easily
