@OzzInter Manual 4 speed, D/Stock, this car holds the current D/S record of 10.45 @126.221, backed up with a 10.53 prior to NHRA engine teardown to ensure compliance with rules.
Actually, the engine is very much stock. I have been to his shop many times. I was there at Atco when they set the record @ 10.45, 124.21 mph. I got to see all for myself. He's built many 302's for customers that run like a raped ape.
It's stock within the NHRA classification. They optimize everything . The camshaft will have the correct lift and duration but the lobe profile wont be any thing you could run on the street for very long. The lobes look almost square compared to a street cam. Valve is up super fast , open as long as possible, then slammed shut. Hard on parts , but adds up with looser clearances and friction reduction. He probably also flow tested many stock heads until he found two that were the best.
@tom69z28 I never said this car was stock , what i meant was the ford blocks are junk and need bracing to keep from twisting , the sbc block is way more stronger than ford 302 blocks ! My engine builder has built 302 chevys with more snort than the motor in this car !
@tom69z28 It is just as stock as any other vehicle running under NHRA Stock classifications. May 2010 issue of Super Chevy details just how stock the engine is.
NHRA don't miss much. She sure gets outa the hole like a Bear. The Guy stiring the Lever ain't too awful bad either.

I seen this car in Super Chevy magazine. Had a 2-3 page article on it. The only thing that's not stock on it is a 3 degree angle valve job.
