I just finished this book last night. WOW! It's a wonderful read and very near impossible to put down. Coupled with The Last Queen, I'm now a bonefide Gortner fan!!

@xXchrisosaurXx ok that was mean of me sorry -- I am just a very enthusiastic European Historian sorry. She basically ruled as regent of France for her three sons after her husband died. She is blamed for strong persecutions of the Huguenots or Protestants and is thought to be very ruthless. But never the less she was a very strong ruler and very important in European History.

@tattisalles1989 Complete fiction, she was never his lover, but one who took Nostradamus under her protection. He, like Catherine, walked a middle road between the Catholics and Protestants. She was a great lover of the mystics and believed in his predictions, as they came to pass one after another in her times.
