  • what u gonna do with that truck?

  • @a456987 It has been sold.

  • It sounds like a 4 stroke?

  • @norfolkdash9 it is a four stroke. they were introduced in medium duty gm trucks as a fuel efficient alternative. they weren't really good motors though.

  • @gajda1984

    I don't know why i asked that.

  • Instant results

  • gosh thats a monster carb this truck has!

  • @teletubbykiller23 its a diesel, and thats a breather

  • Good engine but I would rather have a 366 or427 in one.

  • That engine was junk from the beginning. Didn't have enough power to pull a sick mother in law out of the house. 100 thousand miles if you were luckly, before it blew up. the IH 9 lit. and the Cat 3208 were just as bad. A 366 chevy would out pull it and I have seen then run over 400 thousand miles. All Big blocks Chevy. would run over 200,000 miles no matter how bad they were treated. I've had 345 IH gas out pull and out run and out last the 8.2. Just junk,

  • @kennethrobinson11231 366 chevy outpulling an 8.2 turbo, that's funny. I've drive both of them and the 366 is a pile of crap.

  • is it a two cycle detroit?

  • @xxbal1inxx Unfortunately, no. The 8.2 was Detroits first attempt at a 4 stroke. They marketed it as the "Fuel Pincher" and it did get better mileage than the V8 Gas engines offered in those trucks. But you do run the motor hard like the 2 strokes, it didn't like to be lugged.

  • at first i thaught t444? but then in a GMC nah it couldent be then the 8.2 came to my head they sound so identical!

  • ok two things one that white chevy whats wrong with it and can u make a vid of that and two wat all do u have on ur truck farm lol

  • That looks and sounds like a Detroit Diesel 8.2L. (And I see the comments confirm that.) I've got a handful of videos on my channel of my 'Fuel Pincher'. It's in a 24 foot heavy duty aluminum step van built on a Ford F700 Chassis. Mine is normally-aspirated, non-turbo 8.2L (500 cubic inch). The Detroit Diesel 8.2T is the turbo version of this motor. This one sounds very good. Have you had directly, or have any thoughts on issues with this motor?

  • I can hear that radiator fan going.I remember that sound from a Chevy Wayne school bus in the Pine Bluff School District #54.

  • was this truck a former toronto city truck?

  • Havent seen to many of the fat little 500 cu. V8 Detroits, good stuff!

  • more workboot and pedal goodness. love it man

  • the compotion motors to a 8.2 & 8.2 T Detroit was the 9.0l International & 3208 Cat ;)

  • detroit ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh]

  • detroit diesel?

  • 8.2L Detroit Diesel

  • sweet.

  • @DieselPowerTV I knew it was an 8.2 L by the sound of it before 3 seconds had passed. The air cleaner probably gave me a subconscious clue, but I find the sound of this motor to be very distinct. And I owned one recently. It only had 67k miles on it. F700 Chassis step van with an Allison AT545 behind it. Cool motors but not practical to run or maintain these days.
