Indonesians say goodbye to the Dutch with happiness. They treated Indonesian people badly! Im Scottish married to an Indonesian woman. We know what it was like to have some foreigner trying to rule us, we didn't allow it to happen and we were never conquered. Respect Indonesia for doing the same, showing their brave heart and claiming their right and country. Forget the emotional music and what "you think" it was like all those years ago. Hey if you dont beleive me, ask an Indonesian citizen!
see the history, Indonesia got independence with two way: battle & diplomacy ..
Indonesia win the battle against japan ( when the transision, status quo, after they surrender) and win the war against netherland (1945-1949 -> indonesia independence war) .. but.. it just a past....let's start to build a new world based on democratic humanism, no war, & no nuke .. (peace from indonesian) ..
@SuperBomber19 He is referring to the Javanese domination of the current Republic of Indonesia. Which is exactly what the Dutch wanted to avoid by making a federal United States of Indonesia. Javanese politicians wanted Javanese domination which led to the current situation. Many areas in Indonesia arent content with the current state(Aceh, moluccas, timor, papua).

Been to your country many times and experienced VERY friendly, polite and nice people. And when some elderly found out that l was Dutch they were deligthed ( to my suprise !) to speak to me in my own language.
The seperation of our two nations was a tragic and bloody period in our mutual histories, with stupid mistakes made on BOTH sides.
The matter is i don't give a damn if it is japan or E.T etc. who dominated our country, because from my sight of thinking japan is a country with incredible spirit of nationalism, courage, dicipline and gallantry, n we must admit it through the fact of history of japan and some other nation such as Germany and china for what they did to the world in that time; n in the present day a world gonna be much better under their domination that for sure.
okay you want answere? the answere is I got no fucking idea maybe it is not we but our grand grand parents who did it? besides if indonesia wasn't dutch it was being portuguese british or french.
Yes, Japan is a nation with an amazing spirit and sense of loyalty, nationalism, courage and devotion to it's Tenno Heika. Everyone must admit it. B
ut about Germany... You said that the present day world gonna be much better under their domination. Then, how about individual freedom? The life of the Jews? Much better? To shout Heil Hitler everyday? If you think that's a good idea, then you can just move to Germany, and let's see if you were not killed by the Neo Nazis...
Do u ever heard iron pact (german, japan, italy),that because they have many things in common, about their vision, mission, goals, ideologis etc. the different is only their technical application to every country they dominated in that time.& about Neo nazis i'm thing i can get along with them..
yeah, i'll agree Fuck netherlands and all their allied, thats way nazi struck your country & the one who consider this as the propaganda is a fool because they don't understand about history and the world situation in that time specially in europe and far east asia. and we want to ask u netherlanders for what in the hell your right to occupied our country.
okay so u want japan took over your country? sure the dutch should had make a deal with japan to put the indonesians who act like you in a slavemarket. it's unbelievefull that people like u stuck in it. some people are so low... thank god there are indonesians who still see this as someting that happend and btw.. most of those bad things were propaganda. if the japs didn't came then the dutch would not had such a bad name. the way you talk is like you never met a real dutchman. sad
Well, talk about legitimate requirements to become a nation, its not fully acomplished yet. But!! there is an element such as People(organized), Teritory, unwritten law that born from native culture & religion (soon become a constitution),leadership. Thats the Fact!! & remember!! aprox 300 fuckin years u'r country exploit our country rich land resources (with ressistance from our local people as form of disagreement of course).btw is netherlands have a land resources??mmm..i don't think so!!
It is ironic that Java filled the vacuum that the Netherlands left behind, that is occupy the other islands and becoming the dominant power. Indonesia as a nation doesn't exist, it is an island archipelago with different peoples, religions and cultures. Of course the Javanese do their best to dominate the cultural and religious face of "Indonesia".
The other peoples of the archipelago just traded a European power for a local power...
Hey Guys!!, u know wht a meaning Netherlands or Dutch-Indies or Holland or Belanda is all the Fuck Extrimis human!!! My Grand Father and Grand Ma is figth Be war against the your fuck nation. and down to my Father and my mother also went along be war. because my father and my grandfather were one of the Army troops's national fighters indonesia. if at this time still warfare against fuck Dutch nation colonisers happened I has confirmed was in front....

Prachtig land Indonesia, land waar mijn vader en voorouders geboren zijn en gevochten hebben.
Nu helemaal naar de klote gegaan dankzij corruptie en vriendjes politiek. The Indonesian people our our friends, their freedon gave them little, but Sukarno and Suharto the murdering General, who killed almosty a million so-called communist.
as for the natural resources I believe that the one who benefitted the most was Freeport, have Freeport ever given back to the melanesians? I believe that there is plenty of public schools for the education of the locals in Irian build by the indonesians, and there's also plenty of melanesians granted scholarship to pursue higher education in many parts of indonesia.
as for the natural resources I believe that the one who benefitted the most was Freeport, have Freeport ever given back to the melanesians? I believe that there is plenty of public schools for the education of the locals in Irian build by the indonesians, and there's also plenty of melanesians granted scholarship to pursue higher education in many parts of indonesia.
I think it's a bit hypocrite to say that the Dutch did such horrible things, when actually Indonesia is doing the same.
It's the truth that Indonesians, especially Javanese, are immigrating with thousands to West New-Guinea, and builds their schools, houses and public buildings on the land of the Papuans today, and that's colonialism.
And is Indonesia the rightful owner of, for example, aceh and the moluccas? I don't think so..
By immigrating other indonesians were not taking the jobs of melanesians, so building schools and public buildings or shall we say governmental buildings is colonialism? i dont think so, especially when Irian is still one of indonesia's province, well as for aceh didnt you read history that they DO defended the Republic for its independence, I guess you should know what that means, as for the moluccas, theyve also plegded their allegiance
are only the javans who are corrupt, I dont think so, the government, parliamentary and local district governments are comprised of different races, sumatrans, irians, and so on. I also oppose the concept of a centralized development.
and lets not forget that now, by virtue of the new regional autonomy regulation and concept, the provinces were given their own autonomy to govern their respected region, including the management of their own natural resources and finance management of the region itself, which by the way governed by the local civil servants=not javaneses
The Molluccas were forced to join, those who refused were slaughtered or had to flee. They are living in Holland now by the way. The Papuans are maltraited and forced to accept Indonesian rule and Indonesian settlers. The Dajaks are oppressed. Aceh would'n be Indonesian if it were allowed to leave. Timor was completely raped.
The Mollucas themselves as early as 1928 has pledged allegiance to the one land of Indonesia (soon to be Republic), mainly the people who flees to the Netherlands were ex KNIL soldiers who later became rebels of the RMS and not civilians (probably you only heard your argument in a story passed on by one of the RMS's)
No Dayaks were oppresed, again do not put statements on a gossip basis, no such thing existed, Timor were independent, thus there is no point of discussing, nonetheless I agree that what the Indonesian army had done in East Timor were against humanity and injust to the people of East Timor. The Aceh people sided with the Republic in the struggle of independece from the Dutch.
Have you any idea what you are talking about? Which did Sukarno kill? Sukarno or Suharto, Suharto did but Sukarno did not, none that i have knowledge of. What is the connection between democracy and your misleading statement of Sukarno (probably you mean Suharto) killing people? How you learn your own human rights by explaining your slavery in Pre-independence Indonesia and Suriname.
Do you know what rampok means? I'm not aware of the usage of such words in the dutch language, well you have steel or sluipen. And its not a word of such awkward violence as what you have suggested, violent words in the context of stealing includes "memperkosa", "mengambil paksa". I'm sure you have something to describe more violent words outside of your knowledge. The only logic thing why the dutch use such words probably because they were occupying us for 350 years :).
The Dutch Indies were promised future independence as early as 1942.
Sukarno and his rebels were not content with this as they demanded possession of the whole of the Dutch Indies.
Had it developed in a fair way under Dutch rule, the Javans would have only got what they were entitled to. So he insisted on taking by means of violence.
Again you have a biased view, no such thing as colonization of javaneses, and had not Sukarno declared Independence in 1945 and the pressure given by the US to the Dutch at the Den Haag conference 1949, probably Indonesia they would still try to colonize Indonesia.
By immigrating other indonesians were not taking the jobs of melanesians, so building schools and public buildings or shall we say governmental buildings is colonialism? i dont think so, especially when Irian is still one of indonesia's province, well as for aceh didnt you read history that they DO defended the Republic for its independence, I guess you should know what that means, as for the moluccas, theyve also plegded their allegiance
to the Republic in the Pledge of 1928 under no pressure whatsoever and pledged that indonesia is one nation INCLUDING aceh and molluccas one language which is Indonesian, thus made the molluccas and aceh an element in the united nation of the Republic of Indonesia, and for the public schools they do admit Irian people to also enroll, thus making it a public school, no restrictions based on race, everyone can go and pursue their education.
"And is Indonesia the rightful owner of, for example, aceh and the moluccas? I don't think so.."
And so was the dutch? By treating "inlanders" in different way than other groups? Why didn't the Netherlands make a referendum before the Japanese came? By doing that they could have extended their colonial power there because the region would split into many small regions.
Can you provide me the relevant reference to your example? I never knew that the indonesian government have ever restricted melanesians access to education, no melanesian have ever denied acess to public schools in irian, to think that there is so many tribes living in remote areas of big Irian Jaya made the problem of building local schools in the districts of irian difficult.
he saw indonesians as dutchmen? I dont believe thats an honest statement, in those days indonesians are looked upon as the lowest class in society, even from the chinese although indonesians were the rightful owner of its own land.
an example is how many indonesians have the chance to get education, all is restricted only to europeans and royal blood, the dutch never leave anything to indonesians regardless of how much it have benefitted of indonesia's natural resources for 450 years of occupation.
an example is how many Melanesians have the chance to get education, all is restricted only to Indonesians, the Indonesians never leave anything to the Melanesians regardless of how much it have benefitted of West-New guinea's natural resources for 56 years of occupation.
Can you provide me the relevant reference to your example? I never knew that the indonesian government have ever restricted melanesians access to education, no melanesian have ever denied acess to public schools in irian, to think that there is so many tribes living in remote areas of big Irian Jaya made the problem of building local schools in the districts of irian difficult

Dutch Indies = Indonesia = colony of Java.

Again you have a biased view, no such thing as colonization of javaneses, and had not Sukarno declared Independence in 1945 and the pressure given by the US to the Dutch at the Den Haag conference 1949, probably Indonesia they would still try to colonize Indonesia.

I have never heard of the Dutch promising Indonesia independence as early as 1942.

By immigrating other indonesians were not taking the jobs of melanesians, so building schools and public buildings or shall we say governmental buildings is colonialism? i dont think so, especially when Irian is still one of indonesia's province, well as for aceh didnt you read history that they DO defended the Republic for its independence, I guess you should know what that means, as for the moluccas, theyve also plegded their allegiance
alwin2001 4 years ago
to the Republic in the Pledge of 1928 under no pressure whatsoever and pledged that indonesia is one nation INCLUDING aceh and molluccas one language which is Indonesian, thus made the molluccas and aceh an element in the united nation of the Republic of Indonesia, and for the public schools they do admit Irian people to also enroll, thus making it a public school, no restrictions based on race, everyone can go and pursue their education.

The 'united' republic of indonesia conquered West New-Guinea with a fake referendum, they never asked one papuan. You can't deny that.
Hierbij laat ik trouwens nog buiten beschouwing wat jullie met de 'provincie' Oost-Timor hebben gedaan.
StellenboschVOC 4 years ago
that might be true.
mengenai oost-timor kenyataannya sudah merdeka, saya rasa tidak perlu diangkat lagi disini,
alwin2001 4 years ago

"And is Indonesia the rightful owner of, for example, aceh and the moluccas? I don't think so.."
And so was the dutch? By treating "inlanders" in different way than other groups? Why didn't the Netherlands make a referendum before the Japanese came? By doing that they could have extended their colonial power there because the region would split into many small regions.
Too late now my dear.

I am sorry that our countries had to part in such a horrible way. My grandfather had to fight in your country in 1947.
He hated what he was doing since, by my knowledge, he saw Indonesians as Dutchmen, like he was.
Does it make him a murderer.. he never shot anyone.

he saw indonesians as dutchmen? I dont believe thats an honest statement, in those days indonesians are looked upon as the lowest class in society, even from the chinese although indonesians were the rightful owner of its own land.
alwin2001 4 years ago
an example is how many indonesians have the chance to get education, all is restricted only to europeans and royal blood, the dutch never leave anything to indonesians regardless of how much it have benefitted of indonesia's natural resources for 450 years of occupation.
alwin2001 4 years ago
yeah, it's a shame really, they could and should do much much more for Indonesians back then

as for the natural resources I believe that the one who benefitted the most was Freeport, have Freeport ever given back to the melanesians? I believe that there is plenty of public schools for the education of the locals in Irian build by the indonesians, and there's also plenty of melanesians granted scholarship to pursue higher education in many parts of indonesia.
