Is the litle girl a friend or relative?: If so, one would hope she'd be there to be cried upon at such times as the magicin might need a hug.

Well, Good luck in your journey in magic. In Singapore, there are also alot of masters, but not necessary need a master to learn magic. When you got the drive and motivation, you will become good. Search for Singapore Magic Circle, and you can join us. :)
