On topic i've been lookin around to piece together a decent gaming/movie watching PC and had already decided on this drive, maybe two of them. Your review just reinforces my resolve to get them after I get through the work season.

Though i'll probably just get one since like ya said by the time I need to clear out my drive there will be far superior drives available. Been at this a long time, ever evolving these pc's are.

your numbers are off a bit, although it depends on your system. On my rig it maxes out at 106MB/s Read and 88.6MB Avg. Burst Rate of 113MB/sec

i got a wd 320 g passport external usb an theres a partition on it that i cant delete the stuff on it is for winows i use linux [linux is not gay bill gates even admits its better than windows] when i called wd to ask how to delete it they said they made a mistake and id have to wait till they fixed the firmware i guess wd just thinks everyone uses windows or what .................windows is obsolete

WD HD's are good they run quiet but as they are bigger and bigger like 500GB and up they get heavy and can rattle a pc. Now its getting difficult to find smaller HD's if you need them, like 40GB cause they keep pushing huge storage, sometimes its better to have various sizes for the pc.

very true. my vista pc has 20gb just for the OS that way i wont put nething on there so if i get viruses its unharmed... usually.. and i have another like 30gb for downloads n stuff. and then 80gb for music and movies and 'non trusted' programs. (lyk not big companies n stuff like windows) and another one for games and stuff.

then for my laptops i have bigpond storage so i can access stuff from where ever cause its a laptop and who wants to carry HD's arround the place. haha and yea.... =D

i got an external 1 TB western digital external cuz my crappy ass $400 computer only came with 100 GB available. i put all my games on it and GMOD actually loads HUGE maps faster then when it was on my hard drive.

I have tried to but a graphics card at MSY and told them to put it in they said that this laptop does not have the slot to put it in =*(. So here is what I recommend you to buy for your laptop is a USB graphics card. I have seem one before at MSY from like $200 (AUD). The one I saw was a 8800GT as well =)

currently got two Wd160gb blue caviars, running in AHCI, SATAII.

about two months ago I started losing the allocated sector count, now my C Drive is buggered.

no easy way to resolve it. Will stay away from WD.

i got a western digital 320 gb HDD, but only ended up being about 290gb of usable memory. Was quiet though, and decently fast, also wasn't that large, so it was a solid hardrive.

Ah nice you get cool stuff lol, great review, and it's always better to have more space just incase you need it, I am using 2 500GB external hard drives, plus the 250GB HDD inside my laptop, no combined I believe I have 1..25 TB of space, but you could probably tell me if I'm right on that?
