what gets me is that Elliott sat down, and wrote this melody, with these extremely complex chord structures...it's incredible. not only the chord structure, but lyrically its genius. there will only ever be one, Elliott Smith.

@ArpusTT whats even more incredible is that he plays what he "feels" like playing. he says in one of his interviews that all he really uses when it comes to composing are chord forms. this means he doesn't use any fancy/advanced theory to come up with these ultra elaborate progressions that take a week to figure out when you want to play one of his songs. Less theory= less rules to follow by= more options= super original song= Elliott Smith= awsom:)

it's just really common for drunk concert goers to yelled "freebird!" as a sort of joke answer when a musician asks what the crowd wants to hear (originated from Lynyrd Skynyrd, check wikipedia for long description). Anyway, it's not seen as funny to yell "freebird!" - it's seen as someone being a drunk d*ck.
