  • how did you fit it to the guitar?

  • k i have the exact same guitar and i am wondering if instead of going for 2 pads can u just put a korg mini Kp into the guitar, i saw someone do it but they didn't go into any detail. Also can u make a tutorial explaining how you did this, thank you

  • the guy looks handsome. and im a guy!

  • i thought u were prince for a min

  • I have been building funds to attempt this project and now i am able to do it but i cannot access the website, i know get an error message, is there any way around this?

  • Have you figured out if you can install the new kaoss pad 3 into a guitar?

  • Matt Bellamy started all of this but Hugh manson made the guitar it's a manson mb1

  • Where do you get the liitle pad that goes on the guitar?

  • hahaha sounds amazing, great mod you done to the guitar

  • dude this is awesome !!! lob ur kaoos!!!! heey how did u install it to ur les paul??? i want to do that too!!!

  • oh, man, cool tshirt!

  • nice

  • I recently bought a kp2. I can't connect it to my guitar though. So far I only have a power supply. What other cables do I need?. Like Guitar -> Kp2 -> Amp. Thank you I appreciate it :).

  • You've probably figured it out already, but there's a "shortscalegeardemos" video that shows a good way to set it up with a bypass loop and a boost.

  • @eb1791 you can just you a standard 1/4 instrument cable through the mic input or you can get adapters and use the line in/out which is what i do

  • is this Ben Stiller?

  • :"DDDDD

  • : D

  • Its because they cant play guitar legion they have to find something cool to do with guitars.

  • That thing is insane! You should make a blog on the process of modding it.

Add it to a google ad-sense and make a bit of money off of it? Just a suggestion.

  • I built one that looks exactly like this one. I'm selling it right now on ebay.

  • suck me

  • Why so angry? Did you get sent to your room and now you are mad at your mom but you want to take it out on somebody?

  • Me?. Im not angry. Just a tad horny.

  • hey phil sent you a message on youtube about building one of these things , not sure if you got it , wanted to ask you a couple question if that alright with you, i live in t dot also

  • thats nuts

  • Can you do the same thing with the newer versions of the kaoss pad? ie, miniKP or the kaossilator?

or would the setup and installation be completely different?

  • Hey, I have read the hole how to build a kaoss pad in guitar blog, and I am seriously considering to build one just like yours, but is it a lot of work?

Do you need to have a lot of eelectrician skills to do this kind of work? Pleease answer me!

  • I keep coming back to your videos Phil. I am so intriqued with this Kaoss conjointment. It`s like having an electronic vibrato or trem with more possibilities. Please, Tear it down and reassemble it so we can see how you did it and give us a cost rundown minus the guitar.

  • The costs are really only the guitar and the Kaoss Pad. You can get a Kaoss Pad 2 used for under $200 nowadays. The rest is just a dollar or two for connectors, buttons, cable, led's, etc. Check out the HowTo linked in the description.

  • Are You Inspired By Matt Bellamy At All With This

What made you want to play this way. Lol It'd Be Crazy But I'm Thinking About Trying to put a korg kaoss pad kp2 in my electric viola, probably Not Possible, Still A Thoughtful Idea haha

  • That's an awesome idea.

  • Thanks!

  • That would be the most epic thing anyone has ever done in the histroy of epic things!

  • do you know about root vegetables?

  • how much does one of those cost?

  • the way you look into the camera every now and then, really terrifies me

  • i am selling these guitars. 900 dollars, KP2 mod only. PM me for details.

  • they cost like 600 dude i got one

  • that guitar cost 100 bucks.and it comes with an amp

  • SICK SICK SICK

    =p

  • hey dude what's the name of that kaoss pad you have?

  • korg kaoss pad 2

  • where can u get a kaoss pad in the guitar?

  • 2 questions which epiphone les paul is that, and what input in the kaoss pad do u put ure guitar through, o and great vid and playing.

    thanks

  • Very cool.

  • your guitar looks beautiful with the kaoss pad :D

    mine needs one too !

  • the fact that you say theres a stanadard that guitar needs to be played at, states that there is a need for something new

  • Sorry, but i agree with u

  • yeah i know what you mean, i havent really found a decent video that makes me wanna get one built in to any of my guitars. also i havent really seen anything that i cannot replicate with my BOSS ME-50 apart from the lights.

  • Watch a video of supermassive black hole live, you'll find a reason...

  • Fantastic.

  • im assuming you listen to muse then.

  • that's the first place I saw one too.

  • puta i want one

  • jesus christ!

  • could be better utilized with hammer-ons and pull offs

but that's even harder to visualize and play

  • orales una guiatarras con pantalla

  • Guitar Player of the century.

  • Pointless.

  • youre a legend :]

  • that shit is awesome

  • how did u get the pad on your guitar.......do u get it installed or do u have to buy a whole knew guitar

  • it was deisgned for a synth or a mixer of some sort he had to mod it into his guitar

  • your talented but the original les is way better dude i would make a trade fast

  • try something of Muse :D

  • How much does it actally cost for a Kaoss Pad and a one of those control plates to be installed (collectivly)

  • Is The Acual Like Effects Pedaly Thing In The Guitar Or Is The Screen Just Shoved On The Guitar And The Processor Like On The Floor?

    If U Even Understand That

  • Processor is on the pedal board. Just the touch pad control on the guitar.

  • Lots of cappitals there.

    You from germany???

  • when you bought the kaoss pad 2, did you get the screen to go on to the guitar? Cause every video i see you get the KP2 and then there is another screen and thats for the guitar? Please someone tell me :)

  • WOO dis you put the Kaoss Screen on your guitar yourself!?

  • WOO dis you put the Kaoss Screen on your guitar yourself!?

  • reminds me of mutemath

  • ofcourse you can but it would stick out a few centimeters out of the guitar..

  • what is that pad on the guitar called?

    how much are they?

and where can you get them from in england? or anywhere?

  • Kaos Pad

don't know the cost or how tog et I'm gonna check it out though..

  • Kaoss pad 2, for 100-200 pounds depending where you get them from and in what condition

  • for international purchase though it's 300$ for the pad and aother 90$ for shipping (trying to find cheaper)..

  • Cool. It's a kaoss pad and a guitar. (to the person who asked) Not that expensive. I would try a mini kp and put the screen in a different place to help accessibility. Very awesome though. I would like to know how you designed the pedal board with the controls.

  • Dude

are you Philll on the muse board?

    anyway

    AWESOME!

    i love it!

    i want it lol

PS: you look abit like John Petrucci!

    lol

  • mixed with paul gilbert

  • ...how the fuck?

    did you do that?

    it sound righteous

  • (〃 ̄∇ ̄)ノ彡☆ 不思議なエレキだね♪

  • Dude, awesome!

Is it expensive to put that into a guitar?

  • he madei himself with a touchpad i think.he's a computer geek and good guitar player

  • Still, even if he did put it in himself, I was just wondering the price.

I couldn't see that being too cheap.

Then again, I could be wrong.

  • i think yor a computer geek

  • how did you put a kaoss pad into the guitar? is a kaoss pad 2?

  • are you selling it?

  • Sorry, not at the moment.

  • What are you wearing on your head? It seems interesting to me.

  • They're some vintage Pioneer headphones from the 70's

  • Oh. Thanks.

  • Ehh. nOObie is in the house:

U actually touch the screen and u change effect mods or what... Can this guitar work like this without the Kaoss Pad Mod, and anyway... what is this Kaoss? Sry for my poor knowledge on these stuff.

  • google it

  • i want to do this, but im kind of unsure of my skills with this kind of thing, so a) is there anywhere i can get it done professionally, and b) will the guitar still have the same old sound it did before you fit it

  • Cool.

But whats the point? switching effects?

  • see Muse performing and you'll find out what's this all about

  • seems like strumming and then going to the pad back and forth ruins the flow of things. kinda makes you want a 3rd arm eh?

  • Practice your guitar

  • If you like the sound of something why not try it out? It's a new concept for guitars, so it's cool that people want to learn how to use the kaoss pad with the guitar. Could bring about a whole new sound to music. BTW, bellamy kicks ass with it.

  • yeah i know matt kicks ass, HE does.

  • its existing technology, its not like he made the kaoss pad. matt wasnt totally revolutionary in doing this

  • mmmm oke....

  • Matt did not make that guitar, Hugh Manson made the guitar Matt Belamy uses, and a guitarist who plays with Beck sometimes has another similar guitar made by MJ Guitars. I never once said this was the first guitar like this.

  • yeah i know you never said that, its alright mate, forget my previous comment!

  • are u using other effects?

can i use the kaoss pad as my only effect unit?

  • Nice effects, but you should try to make your playing smoother...

  • howcome noone uses the microprocessor hugh manson put into matt's guitars with kaoss pads. all of you guys use a vga out instead of midi. nice work though man. at least you dont dress like matt unlike some low-life matt wannabes.

  • haha that ukulele in the background cost 30 dollars. i got it one day for the hell of it and it was crap. Cool Vid though

  • are you playing momentary lapse of reason at the beginning? some cool effects

  • are you playing momentary lapse of reason at the beginning?

  • hmmm u can actually jam with the korg kaos pad just need to get creative

  • trippy

  • this guitar is a manson guitar right? like the one that Matt Bellamy from Muse use.

  • It's an Epiphone Les Paul. The only thing the same in Matt's is the pad below the bridge. :)

  • yeah its cool, but it isnt practical when jamming

  • Sounds Cool , Why dont you show the headstock ?

  • hey i think you shoudl put up the roland pickup thing how to build it in on that site that tells you how to put the kaoss pad into your guitar

  • Awsome idea mate.

  • hi phil i reeli like it alot and im going to do the same just put a midi out instead of a db-9 socket in guitar

can i ask mate how come your pad dont change colour with the perameters of when you touch the pad

    karl

  • im gettin one. not building it into my guitar tho. buying a korg mini. strappin it to my strap or taping it abuot same place as urs

  • wats that white square thingy?

  • the kaoss pad

  • heha you kinda look like ben stiller + jake gyllenhaal, thts some cool shit man. =D

  • =DDDDDD

    Great stuff xD

    Guitar can most!

  • does anyone know any specific guitar models that have this type of feature or do you have to get people to mod it for you? and also does anyone know if this mod is just a midi mod?

  • Manson M1D1 - One of Matt Bellamy's guitars not sure where you can buy it but it has a kaoss pad built in

  • no you have to build one unless you want one custim amde but it be expensive

  • What do you mean by just a midi mod? It is a KAOSS pad with all the hardware attatched to it. I think the touchpad is all thats actually in the guitar body, but the rest is hooked up to that display and lies on the floor with other effect pedals for example.

  • Great idea!

  • you can make good IDM music if you thought of making it.

  • Very cool.

  • is it an epiphone les paul studio?

  • epiphone les paul specail 2, it's like a good guitar to mess around with cheap and good for beginners too.

  • i dont like how the delay goes off when you hit the pad its not that cool, Matt's sound doesnt go off, yet the number of possible combinations you can make are fucking amazing

  • I suppose if you put the reverb off on the KP2 and then had it through a GT8 or sumthing you could add the reverb after the KP2 and get a konstant effect that way

  • Yeh, I thought it was an X/Y control pad Matt had in his guitar, hooked up to a Kaoss pad?

  • how much did this cost you to do this

  • can i put one of theis on an ibanez g10 cos it seems big enough

  • try using legato with just your left hand, and then controlling the korg pad with your right. that would be interesting. ^_^

  • can you still access the controls on the casing, i guess so. Also is the kp-2 or kp-3 better for this.

    legend though

its getting done to my bass mann

  • to your bass?! i really think you're wasting your money here.. tbh i dont actually see the point of putting them into guitars.. if its midi then you can just control the whole parameters externally anyway.. why detract from the playing?

  • because it's IDM

  • your brilliant.well done.

  • this idea is amazing, but you arent using it to its full advantage!! =[

  • where can i buy this guitar

  • You can't, the guy has a normal guitar, he's just fitted a korg Kaoss pad to it, its a genius piece of machinary lol

  • -.-

  • This guitar mod is becoming quite popular due to Radiohead and now, Muse. This guy used a computer com cable to directly connect the kaoss pad the the "brains" Limiting his total movement. Instead, you can power up the kaoss pad using 9 volt batteries and feed the remainding wiring to a MIDI jack on the guitar. (output) You can then use a wirelss Midi receiver and eliminate cables. This is how Hugh Manson installed this mod for Matt from Muse....

  • I replied to this comment on Pt 1, but to do this you would have to create a circuit to convert the touchpad signal to midi, in effect creating your own X/Y midi circuit, much more involved than the "extension cord" solution I used here, I mean the guitar's got a patch cable anyway...

  • how did u attatch it to ure guitar?

  • go to the link in the description

  • I change it up, I've run it through a mixer into an M-Audio MobilePre USB and also into an amp. It's got a whack of buzz sometimes, got a Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor to help with that though.

  • im seriously thinking to mod my guitar like that, one of my cheaper ones. I only have to get a kaoss pad.

  • i love u, no seriously ... god i must build in such a thing into my guitar

  • do u run the kaoss pas into ur amp? or do u run into the pa system?

  • Signs of life - nice one!

  • humm can you play the ame thing twich on the pad or is it like diffrent every time you do it? and thats awsum!!! ha lol your awsum ure guitars awsum

  • Thanks! if you're playing the same thing on the guitar and making the same movement on the pad it will always come out the same. Totally repeatable.
