  • All of this has happened, and it will happen again...

  • Thumbs up if you came here to compare it to jimi's version

  • Bob Dylan said that Jimi version was amazing that its basically his song

  • Well, Jimi did mess up the words.

  • bob dylan is bob dylan why select this vid and dislike when you know your goin to hear this iconic voice... 65 people go listen to JEDWARD!!!

  • after hearing jimi hendrix cover, Dylan said, although he didn't know it at the time, he wrote this song for Hendrix! RIP Jimi! love you Zimmi !

  • Bob Dylan (the original writer of this song) said so himself that his favourite version of this song was performed by Jimi Hendrix.

  • bob dylan sucks!!!!

  • @mridontknow63 your opinian but rap and hip hop isnt any better

  • @mridontknow63 Fuck you.I Was named after thiis astonishing musician and you DARE DEFILE HIS NAME? TROLL!

  • @mridontknow63 you're a fucking faggot...

  • This is a pretty good cover of Jimmy Hendrix, but not as good as the original.

  • @GrumpyPancake Actually, Bob Dylan wrote the song and recorded it first... Jimi Hendrix's version is a cover

  • @adksfjdsfsdf Lol, I thought it was the other way around, just makes me think that Bob Dylan is more a genius than I originally thought.

  • @adksfjdsfsdf It is said that now Bob Dylan plays it as a tribute to Jimi. That's class to play your own song in tribute of someone who covered it.

  • @GrumpyPancake troll

  • @GrumpyPancake hummm it is the original nice one genius

  • @GrumpyPancake most of jimi hendrix's hits were originally bob's

  • Just remember that whichever version of this song that you prefer (Hendrix or Dylan) neither version would exist if Dylan hadn't written and recorded the song. Give credit where credit is due.

  • @Insidious1933 trollolol. go back to 4chan

  • @Insidious1933

    You're retarded. That is all.

  • @Insidious1933 Are you being serious??? He's the best songwriter of all time!!! And he's a JEW!!!!!! Kickass!

  • @Insidious1933 u fuckin douchebag, go back to ur mamas' basement, the world doesnt need ppl like u, oh sorry i didnt notice, u dont even have any music put out since ur a lowlife piece of shit

  • @putaspekpek This isn't necessary on a dylan vid

  • Why does it play twice?

  • @antdigger sigh

  • @antdigger

No Jimi Hendrix "ripped off" Bob Dylan.

    It's called a cover.

    Bob Dylan wrote this song.

  • @kdkb3 Actually, Bob Dylan considers the Jimi Hendrix version of the song to be thee "Definitive version."

  • @Vincepp

    So...?

my point was that Dylan wrote it

  • @Vincepp reddit

  • Great song!

  • love

  • @RPsheep nono ehm not at all, this song is good with almost any greater artist. Check out Neil Young and Pearl Jam live version, DMB did a great job at ws99..

  • Glad you anticipated I'd listen to it twice :)

  • Bob Dylan > Jimi Hendrix

  • Average Dylan song... Jimi made it a legend. So credit to BD for writing it but Hendrix made the song what it is

  • @RPsheep yeah so?

  • If you are ever lost in space, just stick this in your FTL drive. Totally works.

  • 歌词比较好

  • This song is perfect with it’s two versions, Bob’s and Jimi’s. It wouldn’t be complete without it. But the song « belongs » to Jimi. Jimi made it his. Funny no? Jimi’s version is more than a song, it’s a rock anthem, guitar anthem. Jimi’s is one of the best songs ever played, and Bob wrote it. You see? The best is Jimi’s, DUUUUUh, but with out Bob, there is no song.

We have to say thanks to both of ‘em, to giving us one of the best songs ever. Respect to both of ‘em. RIP Jiimi

  • 1990 people got trolled so hard.

  • Bob Dylan is a storytelling genius. Ages from now our children will look upon our culture and find a dim light among our rubble in Dylan's music.

  • Came Here Cause I Played This On Guitar hero 5 (:

  • @JonteTheMan1 Fuck off

  • @JonteTheMan1 you dont have to like his music but he is a legend who paved the way for so many artists its unreal

  • @JonteTheMan1 You FAIL !!!!!

  • @JonteTheMan1 fuck you

  • @JonteTheMan1 I don't really like bob dylan, but this song is great. True story.

  • @JonteTheMan1 If all your going to do is dick on a legend then why did you click on the link? I doubt anyone here really wants to hear you being an arsehole. if you dont like a video don't watch it or just shut up.

  • @laurenceT141 I like the song...

  • Jimi's energy is much closer to me

  • The Orignal is always better.

  • love this song, love Bob Dylan, but hate this version of the song. Michael Hedges pwns, then Jimi Hendrix.

  • yeah i prefer hendrix's version but this one is good too. hendrix makes the song more "full". dylan was a mellow man and i dig noisy rock n roll.

  • good track

  • Even though I'm a big Dylan fan I never managed to find this song until now! I prefer hendrix's, but I have known his version for half my life, so Im probably biased.

  • @darkcloudg you suck

  • @darkcloudg

    that's not a version ;-)

  • Comment removed

  • the best version is michael hedges's version. better than the original.

  • Comment removed

  • i feel like jimi's version flows much nicer but i really can't complain i love both versions :)

  • ooooooooooo a reactions button

  • several hours :) I,m gonna see him :D

  • well he is bob dylan the king of watchtower

  • I've always liked Dylan's original better. But Hendrix's interpretations is really great. I just personally like Dylan singing this song better.

  • Everyone who argue that Jimmis' or Bobs' version is better may be reconciled in a simple way. Of course Affinity cover of this song is unparalleled by no one:]

  • who sang this first Dylan or Hendrix

  • @johnstonemeister Dylan.

  • @johnstonemeister its a dylan song, but i remember reading that after dylan heard hendrix version he never sang it this way again.

  • this is one of my favs.

  • In my opinion there's no reason for pointless arguments over such a great song Hendrix and Dylan were both genius and Jimi was just covering a song he enjoyed as much as any fan..

  • nobel to dylan!

  • I love this song. Much better than the retake. The cover's not bad but Dylan's is amazing. Jimi made it too strong and hard a song

  • Fantastic song!! The song has been covered thousands of time and there have been some good ones! But the original lives on as the best!! Joey Vaughan "World Blues Attack"

  • anyone who thinks this original is better than the hendrix version probably also thinks bob dylan isn't overrated

  • all i can do is be myself, whoever that is.

    -Bob Dylan

  • 62 Cylons disliked this.

  • @WarHighlanderMkII best comment ever.

  • @WarHighlanderMkII *from nowhere* So say we all.

  • Great Song

  • Hendrix made this song his - Jimi was never a great singer but his voice is better and more palatable than Dylan's. Hendrix could emote lyrics while Dylan just snores over them. Bob = so overrated.

  • sad how the children off today cant appreciate talent like this instead they choose a thumping noise dat makes no sense :/

  • I like this version best, the Jimi Hendrix version sounds awesome at the beginning but his voice spoils it. Bob Dylan is the winner here, sorry folks.

  • @Heinrich592

I agree that Jimi's version started awesome until he started singing, I want the first few seconds repeated again & again in the song.....such a great tune.......he could've used it throughout the song !

  • Im a Cylon!

  • Oh Yeah!!! Love it!!! They don't make em like this anymore!! That's a FACT!!!!!!! Joey Vaughan "World Blues Attack"

  • So much better than jimi's version.

  • He sounds just like fucking piglett off of winnie the pooh

  • Dylan owns this song. He is the man

  • Honestly, I first heard McCreary's version, then Hendrix's (it can be heard in the series, too) and now this one. They're so different, I really like McCreary's and Dylan's both a lot, gotta say I didn't like Hendrix's too much..

  • Hendrix defined this song and made it his.

  • Jimi talks on Bobs vid and Bob talks on Jimis.....said the joker to the thief.

  • Guys, who are you kidding here? Bear McCreary's version is the best one hands down.

  • who are the people with bob on the album cover?

  • both versions are good in their own way! Hendrix's version doesn't have that perfect harmonica sound, but it has a perfect electric guitar sound, which Dylan's version didn't! BOTH VERSIONS ARE GOOD AND BOTH AUTHORS ARE GODS!

  • Jimi's version is totally different. I don't like the one above the other. They're both perfect!

  • Dylan and Hendrix's should not be compared they are the same masterful song (written after Dylan's car crash) Hendrix recorded his cover version 6 months after in 1967.

  • @WhatWentWrong22441 Close, but it was a m'cycle crash. And there are those who thought it was faked to give Dylan a chance to get out of the public eye. Some people will believe anything and you're absolutely right. Comparisons are pointless.

  • @WhatWentWrong22441 Not trying to be a douche, but it was a motorcycle accident..

  • @mattandjordaninc Yeh i keep realizing this and ur not a douche ur just trying to be helpful, so thanks!

  • It's true. Dylan did like Hendrix's remake better than his own.

  • i actually don't know what version i like better, there is also somethinge magic about this song... i just love them bot

  • lol i swear the second half sounds like the first :L

  • bob dylan brought heart into the lyrics, Jimi Hendrix brought soul into the guitar. Stop talking about which one is better, you can't compare them because they are two different songs with entirely different sounds, instead of insulting their songs, you should be crediting them two who contributed their heart and soul into their music, i doubt half of you lot arguing couldn't transfer your entire soul and heart into music.

  • @BlazeStoryMS Well said my friend, well said.

  • Every video I see that was covered/is a cover always has an argument over which is better.

    Different people like different music.

    Get over yourself.

  • Jimi's version was definitely better. In fact, it was pure genius. The guitar notes, everything. However, I do still give Bob credit for the lyrics. They're both very talented people and deserve every bit of respect in the music industry. As far as I'm concerned, no one will ever match up to their level of purity and originality. They were of an era that you just can't outdo.

  • 59 DISLIKES?!

Must be Feminem and Lil Gayne faggots...

how did they find this music?

I thought they didn't like real talent?

  • @HammerNHook why trash other peoples music to make a point? don't trash others cuz its the thing to do. i'm a fan of MUSIC. real music is what moves you. good tunes is good tunes. who cares who its by.

  • wow whats better the originator or hendrix. i am awed by both

  • Bob Dylan's voice in this song sounds like George Harrison in my opinion

  • What a great tune .One of the best in my mind

  • Why does this play twice?

  • @Eoinposse it's so awesome that listening to it once is not enough

  • @Eoinposse its not twice its part 2

  • kay hendirx's is good cus the solo, but bob dylan's has emotion, its just better, and who gives a shit if he said hendirx's is better, course he wouldnt say it sucks, stupid TWill800

  • Jimi's version is nice but Bob Dylan just has this style that gives this song the eerie quality it needs :D

  • i thought that jimi composed this song :) this is magic of the remix, if you dont know the original author, you think that the author you listen in moment is the right author :)). but whats funny, i found that original author is bob dylan, after i watched this song, which was japanese cover version of hendrix version :)

  • what key is his harmonica in

  • i hear the song....frak

  • Bob Dylan (aka Robert Zimmerman) is a Talmudic Jew, a kahane chai admirer (extremist Israeli fascism); and the watchtower is an illuminati symbol!!!

  • @LtColomboLAPD stop getting wrapped up in that bullshit

  • @mymansmcginnisI would…, if only what I said wasn’t true!!!

  • @LtColomboLAPD ha have fun with that bro

  • i heard this for first time now an its amazing

  • jimi's version kicks ass, but this is just too good.

  • why is the song played two times

  • @manwithouthat44 Why would it NOT be played two times

  • @VarSorgen because I have it in my playlist and its annoying. I have to go and skip it all the time.

  • @manwithouthat44 But you have to listen to it at least twice!

  • MORE COWBELL!!!

  • harmnica is to loud no ?

  • I hear the snare in this, and the tempo, and this version in general, and I hear a desperateness, a call to action, that doesn't quite come across in Jimi's version to me. Not to say I don't like Jimi's, but I find this more powerful for its simplicity.

  • I think Bob Dylan is the real God's son

  • thank you for uploading it! i love so much this song!

  • What a great tune .Maybe one of the best if not the best tune in the rock and roll music era

  • only 780,307 views? The Joker and The Thief are gonna be whooping some ass tonight!

  • @amysita77 That´s it!! You've got it!!!! Due to that nobody will sing Dylan like Dylan. It´s unique, singular. Like God.

  • You guys do know that even Bob Dylan has said he likes Hedrix's version better? Stop complaining.

  • @TWill800 This is true.

  • @TWill800 It's the difference between a ballard and rock n roll. One is poetic

and touches your heart through the mind, the other touches your heart through

the body. Which is the better song, it depends on the mood.

    I love them both!!!

  • @TWill800 yea, i knew that, I always thought that was funny as hell for some reason:)

I FUCKING HATE KATY PERRY FOR KILLING THE SONG THOUGH

  • @TWill800 i think Dylans is better, but everyone has their own views, you cant criticise an opinion, Dylan thought the cover was better, many agree, many disagree, but you cant put a definite verdict to it, because everyone has their own music taste.

  • @TWill800 What he actually said is that how Hendirx did All Along The Watchtower was how he would have done it if he was Jimi.

  • @TWill800 Hendrix not Hedrix

  • @TWill800 I am totally aware, just the majority of Dylan fans prefer his version. Chill yo' beans guyzz.

  • Comment removed

  • @TWill800 I don't know why people fight about that... Even though myself can't deside which version is the best because I really love Dylan's version, but I'm not writing stuff such as "how can you say that?", "are you fucking stupid?" or "his is better and your argument is invalid".

  • @TWill800 of course he's going to say that you clown

  • Why the hell is when i type " all long the watchtower" it comes up with jimi hendrix verison!

  • @FreakTheAnimal because its better...

  • Who can beat this, probably the best you will ever hear.

  • That harmonica makes my fucking ears bleed.

  • Is this the Bob Dylan version? Sounds good its good to see old bob can do a cover. I bet Justin Beiber could do a great version of this song

  • @Goat8151004 for the love of god...you better be a fucking troll, and not serious.

  • @Masterofthesixstring i hope hes joking. hes a fucking spud if hes serious.

  • @Goat8151004 Can't tell if trolling..... Or just stupid

  • @Goat8151004 this isnt a Bob Dylan version. Bob Dylan wrote the song. Hendrix did a cover. Bieber really? no.

  • @Goat8151004 Bieber deserves to die and never to touch this song, otherwise Chuck Norris will have to end Bieber´s life. You cant be serious about Bieber doing a cover to this song, your nuts!

  • @Goat8151004 go kill yourself for even thinking that Justin beiber should do Bob Dylan.

  • @Goat8151004 kid...lemme tell you something....I wish you the worst of luck with the devil in hell. Nobody shall pay respect of any kind for your twisted soul.

  • @Goat8151004 10/10

  • @Goat8151004 I would be genuinely interested to see how an "artist" like Bieber would tackle a Bob Dylan song.

  • Anyone else here because of Battlestar Galactica?

  • @harmsc12 I discovered this song with BSG too :) and here's the movie's version : watch?v=J1__dINxiXU&list=FLa2lDyQyHjt6VJlpFG3TXaw&index=60&feature=plpp

  • Lolz. It's funny to see all these "music experts" explaining why Jimi Hendrix's version was more popular...

  • i like both,

  • I need to know this:

This song definitely about the vietnam war right?

  • At first I didn't think much of the orginal version but after a second listen I'm now humbled.
