if anyone would be interested in helping me import a black and tanned doberman boy with ears cropped and tail docked (due to cropping/docking now being illegal in the uk) i would be very grateful and would be willing to pay a high amount of cash! my email is kyle_poultney@hotmail.com many thanks guys and girls!
As a once breeder of the doberman all I can say is that no matter what they have had done or not done, this breed is a class all on it's own. once you connect with this animal you soon realize how amazing these dogs are and what they can do seems to be never ending in there skills. I love these dogs! And I miss my Marco RIP!
Here go all the do-gooders with their stupid comments about ears and tails. Get a life! Of course it's okay that we stick holes in our ears for fashion. I don't remember circumcision being painful. Who wants a dog that looks like a black and rust weimeraner?
@Olliesmydog "Dobermans with natural ears (that aren't cut) are prone to ear mites and ear infections." <-- is what someone said. i'm not sure if its true, but i really don't think its for fashion sakes, stupid.
@YanadaMako It IS indeed fashion. Dobermans are no more prone to ear mites than any other dog...and any owner worth his/her salt would treat their dog with a trip to the vet and some eardrops long before slicing their dogs ears off. The practice has been banned in the UK and most of the EU because of it's cruelty, stupid!!!!!
@Olliesmydog most Doberman breeders dock the tails long before you even get your dog... and for the ears... the whole reason most people crop the ears is mostly for the looks but also to make the dog look more like how the perception of a doberman is supposed to be. mean and viscous even though at plenty of times they are sweet...
A ridiculous comment from someone who wants to mind the business of everyone else. You don't seem to know anything about Dobermans. A cropped Doberman expresses themselves just fine, much better than you seem to be able to do.
@deddaGAMING ok, wenn du das Komma vergessen hast, dann habe ich eine andere Frage fuer dich, warum sollte man einen Doberman nicht mit Leckerlies belohnen????
I'm having a little trouble getting my 4 month old German Shepherd puppy to lay down. He'll sit, stay, come, speak just fine, but I can't get him to lay down at all. How did you start training your pup for that?
Every time I try and pull him down by his front paws he stands up and backs away. Any tips?
@JSGayMusic - try holding a treat at his nose then bring it down to the ground down near his front paws, often the body will follow the nose down. That's how I taught my 1st Dobie, and he got so good all I had to do was point to the ground and he hit the ground!
nice looking dog! my EMT teacher had a female an he used her for a search and rescue dog. She was really good and smart. she was only trained to find ppl that are alive. I wanna get one badly
yeah actually raw chicken is very good for a dobermans coat it will be shiny and they say that if you feed raw chicken they live longer. My doberman loves it you should try giving yours.I feed mine pro Plan and chicken
@TheMaudsley raw meat or raw bones is very good for the dogs, you shouldn't feed cooked bones, because they splinter. Raw frozen bones are great for cleaning the teeth too and it keep them busy for a while.
@leondevargas I chose 'platz' because I was watching a Doberman Protection video & a lot of them use German commands which are more stern...& Platz was one of my favorite. (:
Every time I watch this videos with Dobermans, I miss my Doberman. My dog, Amanda, who was a Doberman, passed away back in April 2009. Before she died, she had cancer and arthritis. Even through she was very sick, she had a very strong will and heart, and she just kept going until the day she died. It's been a year and two months since she was gone, and I still miss her. :(
im not trying to be mean, rude, or anything that might be affensive but your dog's sit is slightly improper. the dogs hind leg is behind the front one. the hind legs have to be showing at the side . lol but awsome dog im getting one next week
I proved your point but u don't think this dog could do the tricks without a treat & everyone who uses treats are rookies?? No lol. Don't think I made a statement similar to that one in my comment.

Food is probably one of the best motivating factors. However, most people use it too much and have a hard time getting their dogs to do commands when there is no food are treats. Praise should be the number one reward and food should only occaisionally supplement. My dogs always immediately follow commands just for a pat on the head. Using food is really the easy way out, but would this dog be as attentive and obedient in its absence? Probably not.
My Doberman is now 10 months old, & I will have you know that it doesn't matter if there is a treat in my hand or not....she WILL perform a trick for me. She will dance a hundred times just for a pat on her back. She knows 10 more tricks now than what she is doing in this video.
She is also clicker trained, as well hand signals.
Keep checking for an updated Tricks video because I will proove you wrong.

I really hate to be so critical because anyone can criticize someone elses video over the internet. However, Dobermans are one of a relatively small number of breeds that are capable of the highest level of obedience. So unless you show a video of your dog competing in at least a novice obedience competition, you can do nothing to prove me wrong. Can he compete against properly trained dogs? Anyone can teach "tricks" as you call it. Its seems he is a happy dog, so thats all that matters.
@PornFlakes21 have you taught her roll over yet?? I'm still workin on it with mine. He really doesn't like lyin on his side but thats as far as he goes right now, hopefully he'll feel comfortable soon.
Hi there :) Yes she can roll over. Its a tricky one and she will only preform the trick if she knows she has plenty of room to roll over & she won't smash into anything(shes 75lbs now!) I would lay her on her side and hold the treat over her head, then I would roll her over myself making sure she followed the treat over her head.
@bank80 these dogs are intelligent, whether they learn by food or praise alone, they will learn the command & stick with it. I used treats to teach him lie down & sit. I used little to none to teach him leave it & get down. I used none & he learned "toy" all on his own. They're intelligent to learn with or without treats & its the owners preference. The dog will stick to the commands whether or not you continue to use treats...such has been my experience
@bank80 just give it up. Treat training is just as effective as any other training method. To each his own buddy!! You use what method works best for you and your dogs, and I'll use what method works best for mine, m'kay?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I'm perfectly ok with you using treats to train your dog. Its your dog. I'm just saying that its not the best method if you want consistency, especially when treats are not around. Ever compete in an advanced obedience competition? Probably not. Are treats allowed during competitive obedience? No. Have you ever seen a police officer throwing treats at their dogs while on the job? No. Compete once in obedience and you will see the truth. Luckily, dobermans always make you look good.
So you are one of those men that always have to have the last word? How annoying. Please don't comment anymore on this subject you are just wasting your time or I will ban you from ever watching my videos. NOW I SAID GOOD DAY!
@bank80 But they all are starting out with treats. I train In SCH, so now what and yes i started my puppy out on treats, i been training with out Sherrifs and guess what even they do start with treats, you just use less and less with time, till you don't use them at all anymore. She people like you with a big mouth, just drive me nuts, hey since you and your dog seems to be so great, maybe wanna show of some videos of your dog working ??? Any titels yes?
Especially when petting a dog that is not your own, always start by scratching under the chin rather than bringing your hand above his head which is seen as an aggressive and threatening move. If you start under the chin you can move round to giving him a good scratch behind the ears too.
